Michael.Sandoval33
On 9/3/2024 at 12:36 AM, RoyN said: Introduction Thank you to MyGolfSpy and Tour Striker for allowing us to be a part of another great opportunity. My name is Royce, 40yo, and I reside in Palm Desert CA, aka the Greater Palm Springs area or the Golf Capital of the US. With over 120 courses that includes stops on the PGA & Champions Tours and the former home of an LPGA Major. Golf is year round here, if you can handle the summer heat.(117° yesterday!) For me, golf has become a way of life, since I now work in the industry. When I am not at home with my wife of 10 plus years and our special needs 9yo son. I am either trying to sneak some time in on the course or at work. I am currently a manager for a golf retailer but started out as a club builder. And I constantly remind people the guys who build the racecars don't drive them on Sundays. Same goes with golf clubs. I have had the opportunity to build or work on clubs for PGA & Champions tour pros, current & former professional athletes coaches and broadcasters. My game has come a LONG way since I really picked it up almost 5 years ago. I only dabbled with a local 9 hole par 3 course growing up in LA. Not until 2019 did I actually really try and take up the game. I had never swung anything longer than a 7i before. Unfortunately March of 2020 put a hold on my new found passion. But I have been playing consistently for the last three and half years. Starting at almost a 40 index, I am playing to about a 17 now. I am mostly self taught. With the exception of 3 or 4 actual lessons over the years. A lot of time spent watching YouTube videos and grinding on the range trying to learn this incredibly difficult game. I am every bit of the average golfer. Club head speed is about 93-96mph with driver. My 7i goes 147-154 yards. But I know there is more in the tank and haven't tapped into it yet. As a gear junkie and someone who is always looking for anything that will help me improve, no matter how small. I am ecstatic to be able to review all these different Tour Striker products. Not only am I looking for what will improve my game but what could help someone else's game. Let's be honest, we are golfers, we are always looking for a simple fix! Great intro @RoyN and having lived in Palm Desert (Cathedral City) I am not envious of that heat! Michael.Sandoval33
Went to the range for use of the trackman today. Honestly, I am not surprised with the results. I have been saying for a while that more or less, all of my irons carry the same distance and my swing/ball speeds are not high. My distances are up at least 10 yards from my previous trackman sessions in March which is a positive sign but all in all, there is much work to be done. I am hoping when I start using the Tour Striker training aids that a lot of my flaws will be exposed so I can work with the program to correct them. I want to mention that I have noticed on my further shots, the height is a lot closer to my swing speed which is where I would also like to keep consistency during this testing and after. Michael.Sandoval33
Took the Tour Striker Smart Ball and sleeve out to get a feel for it. It does take a second to get used to. Promoting good motion can feel uncomfortable, but I believe that is from my improper swing being forced to stay tighter with the Training Ball. This was a test before the test so to speak but all signs are pointing up and there is plenty more to come! Michael.Sandoval33
Went to the range this morning with both the Smart Ball and the Flex click. Spent the morning following the protocols and saw a lot of good swings with better contact and distance using the Smart Ball. I feel like it promotes good body control while keeping the arms tight and in place while swinging. Will definitely continue working with the protocols and the Smart Ball. The flex click was an issue, for me at least. Even while following the protocols, I could not get my hands and club in a position to use the flex click in its intended way. I found my wrists having to over-cup in order for the click to take place, and when it did, the flex click then got in the way of my hands through the downswing. Definitely going to work with it a little more at home before trying it out on the range again. More to come! goaliewales14
With it being a rainy day here, it made it the perfect day to do some indoor testing! Today's agenda was the Smart Ball withOUT the sleeve. I wanted to do it without the sleeve first to see if the sleeve added any benefit. Even though I've had previous experience with it, this is not a simple training aid especially with woods. Here's a video of me using it with my 3 wood. I will say the Smart Ball has already impacted my swing. It help me realize that my arms have become lazy and are not on top of my pecs like Martin wanted when I went to the school. Unfortunately, I did not capture this swing on video, but here's a 6i that I hit after I completed the protocols/session for the day. Michael.Sandoval33
Took both the Flex Click and Smart Ball to the range today. Still feel the way that the Smart Ball forces your arms, shoulders, and body into a better position which has led, so far, to more distance and more repeatability. While using the Flex Click, I realized early on this morning that between the PA and other golfers, it is going to be hard to hear the audible click that I am looking for. Still, it is there when you're listening for it. It is a training aid that I personally have to get used to and work a lot more with as I found myself overextending the bend of my wrist which led to me striking the ball with the bottom edge of my irons. I do see the benefit in the good shots, they are just few and far between at the moment. More to come! goaliewales14
After using the training aids for a little bit now, and while we wait on the 2nd shipment to arrive, I thought tonight would be a good night to just go to the range without any aids and just swing. I wanted to see if I noticed any differences in my swing or if my swing is even viable right now! Good news is after a few swings everything started to go pretty well! The one thing I noticed is I'm having a lot more awareness of my wrist right now. In the protocols Martin talks a lot if you're wrists/hands are in good positions, you're setting yourself up well. The other thing I noticed is I'm making sure that my arms on sitting on top of my pecs rather than being lazy and just hanging. That one something the Martin wanted me to focus on even back in the Tour Striker Academy. I have been a little lazy about that. For me, that's important because I have T-Rex arms so that helps me stay connected while having full range of motion I have a Greenskeeper's Revenge event on Saturday, so that'll be the true test of how my swing is holding up!!
