Boris119
Good morning, Hello, my name is David Guest. I am a 65 year old retired law enforcement officer. Originally from the southwestern area of Pennsylvania and have lived in North Carolina for the last 26 years. i have been a member of MGS for around 6 months. I currently live in the Western Foorthills of Nc I started playing golf when I was 15 years old. I caddied at a local CC and would pick up tips from the members. My starter set of clubs were old Spaulding blades with Persimmon woods. When I got back from AirForce basic training I decided to get new clubs. They were a generic set of cast irons with early TaylorMade metal woods. I played with those clubs until 1983. At that point I purchased a set of Titleist DTR irons and kept the woods. My wife was a manger of FW Woolworths, so I played golf once a week with several of the managers of other Woolworth stores every Wednesday for about 5 years. I then took a break from golf until 2014. That is when I got fit for my first set of irons. pingG25. Honestly these clubs and I did not get along. So after about a month I went back and traded them for Mizuno JPX850. As far as driver and 3 woods. I would buy what ever I could find at Play it again sports. In 2027 I again took a break from golf until this past May. I purchased a set of Cobra King Tour irons with Recoil shafts. Use Cobra LTDx woods in 3 and 5 wood and just purchased a Cobra Dork Speed 7 wood. I play Monday Wednesday and Friday with a local senior group. As far as what kind of golfer am I. I do not feel I am as good as my 9.5 handicap would indicate. I play on a small local public course. Located in North Western NC. Away from golf I enjoy camping. We own a 45 foot 5th wheel toy hauler and pull it with an HDT. My wife will be retiring the end of this year. At that point we plan on exploring this great country with our 2 Siberian Huskies and Great Dane. gajrsports
Hello everyone, my name is Gary King and I am excited to be chosen for this review. I started playing golf at the age of 10 and now it makes 58 years of trying to get better. I do have a lot of stories but will keep this shorter. I love the game as it is the only sport I still believe I can get better! I am 68 years old and from Georgia where I have lived since 1963 and played golf since 1966. Still don’t know how we started but sure am glad we did! To skip along I played Junior College basketball and signed a scholarship with Palm Beach Atlantic because they said I could play on the golf team. The year I started they decided to drop their athletic program so it was off to regular college, which I was very good at the social part and ignored the academics but did finally get it together. Skipping a few years of light play because of work as a banker, finance manager at a car dealership and just life. Well, in 1990 a new course was being opened by some friends of mine when they approached me. Here is what I remember, you have a very good swing, and a great personality do you want to become a golf professional? Well of course and I began in 1991! My wife said do before we had kids!(she had a good job). The process began and I became a class A PGA professional in 1995. No golf here as I taught lessons daylight to dark to support the 2 kids that we had come along. Skipping farther ahead my boys began playing sports and I missed my oldest first whole season. Golf employment you work weekends and holidays so family suffered a little. Well I started the next journey 2006. Baseball for the boys so I needed summers so teaching sounded interesting. Well I started subbing and loved it! Again not much golf as we chased our boys! Both were Division II players. In 2013 I got my amateur status back and I finally retired. I now work at a private school now part time. OK background over! Now on to golf! I practice everyday Monday – Friday and play Saturday and Sunday! I am not a big fan of ghin as it is not a true reflection on how you play but a true reflection of how you play your best. I do have a ghin and this is not a total reflection. I had gall bladder surgery this year and my scores climbed. My club make up is 58, 54, 50 Mizuno T22 wedges, Mizuno JPX 923 Hot Metal Pro 6 – GW, Calloway Mavrik 3+ and 5. Taylor Made Stealth Plus 9 degree. Irons are with KBS Tour Lite, Driver and Fairway with Aldila Rogue shaft. I like to test all golf balls and right now -ProV1 is leading. Best Score 68. When I was 16 and when I was 68. My hobbies are pretty much golf and sitting by the grill with a glass of wine or a beer after golf! Cheers! Fiveslow
UNBOXING/FIRST IMPRESSIONS- My two gloves came packaged in a brown envelope with the “Clinch” logo on the back. Each glove comes in a neat re-usable, slider closing vinyl bag which could work as a valuables pouch in your bag. Clinch also tossed in a few tees and a sticker with the green and gray XL gloves. First impressions was that the material on these gloves looked thick and heavy, almost like an outdoor work glove. Well, upon taming it out of the bag and putting it on, I couldn’t have been more wrong. As light as any other premium glove I have ever worn and the material was similar to any other glove as well. I usually wear size XL golf gloves (mostly Footjoy and Callaway) and these fit as expected. It was overcast and damp today so I thought today would be a great day to start testing. I set up my Rapsodo MLM2 and went to work. After completing my first session (about 100 swings) I was impressed. The first 70 or so the glove was dry. The last few swings I had grabbed my wet golf towel to damping the glove. I had no issues maintaining my grip on my driver swinging full-boat and then some, with no effects on accuracy. I am looking forward to on course use, with my first round scheduled for Tuesday! ——————————————————————————————————— Good afternoon MGS members. My name is JR. I have been an active member for about a year and this will be my first test review! I reside in Rockland County, NY (about 15 miles from NYC) along the Hudson River. I didn’t start playing golf until after college, which is over 20 years ago (). My handicap had hovered around 8 earlier this year, but with some help from my newly acquired Rapsodo MLM2 I have gotten down to 5 (although trending back up!). Living in the metro NY area I am a short drive to some great courses and I try to take advantage of that as much as possible. I will play whenever and wherever. I usually take the hour ride to Bethpage Black each year and this year it did not disappoint. My current bag setup includes 2019 P770’s with KBS shafts, Stealth 9* driver with Ventus black 7x shaft, Stealth plus 3 wood, Sim2 rescue, Vokey wedges and a Scotty Phantom 5.5 secured by a Titleist Scotty Cameron bag. I also carry a Bushnell hybrid rangefinder which I love. I was also an avid Arccos user (cheaped out in August but will probably join back shortly) and occasional Rypstick trainer. Both of which I recommend. As far as gloves go I have never really been sold on one company, but find myself playing Footjoy Weathersof most often. Due to the extreme humidity this summer I found myself losing grip of the club during my swing, especially the driver. During one Rapsodo session in my backyard I launched my driver well into my neighbor’s yard! So to save my neighborhood’s windows I had invested in a pair of rain gloves which seemed to help the issue, but still was not sold on wearing “rain gloves” full-time! I had heard of the Clinch brand but totally unfamiliar with their product. Clinch claims that their gloves “grip when wet, are breathable and phone friendly” (amongst other claims). I will give the members an honest review and hope that these gloves can back up those claims. I plan on testing them on as many courses as possible and in a variety of weather conditions as well. I also plan on using it for my Rapsodo sessions where I can really speed up the moisture build up and also the wear and tear! I will be keeping this glove in my bag if it can withstand a few weeks of play and range sessions and work well in a variety of weather conditions. nick gauts
Good day to all! My name is Nick Gauthier but you can call me Nick Gauts! I am 32 years old and grew up playing golf in my backyard but never really went to the courses. We had 10 acres so I was able to hit the ball and work on my iron game through some "rough". I never really had proper clubs always just used what was available and my first clubs were 1980s Spalding semi blade clubs that were cut down and regrouped with electrical tape. Fast forward a few years and the bug has caught me again as an adult . My knowledge has increased dramatically in the past 5-7 years. I am always open to learning and growing my game. Any weather I will play in. Rain, sun, snow . I have played in the middle of the winter with ice in the fairways. ( I live in Canada) Current bag (as of writing this) its a bit of a Frankenstein set but we are looking to upgrade fully in the coming weeks.
