I believe I said it was only a matter of time.  I also said the PGA needed to get off its high horse, and stop believing that it was better than everyone.  Also that it needed to stop trying to convince their players that to be paid their worth, in an industry that makes BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, made them a bad person.

We'll see!  If Rory does go, then we'll see who the first major network, that realizes people will watch Rory McIlroy, is to offer a TV deal.  PGA needs to be VERY CAREFUL, at this point.  Golf is not better, it is not special.  And the players who are making others, FILTHY RICH, now realize they should be getting paid more.

Rory is worth just as much to golf as Shohei Otani is to baseball.

I'm not saying its right, or its good for the game, but I believe the PGA's "We are golf" stance since the beginning, and currently has forced the issue.

"That's just the way it is" as Bruce Hornsby sang!

The National Golf Foundation, valued the golf industry, in the United States ONLY  in 2022 at 101.7 BILLION dollars.  Now who is responsible for golf being worth this much now.   its the players, that allow these organizations to make all this money.  Oh and a $50,000,000 a year salary for McIlroy is 0.0004 % of 101.7 Billion.

Anybody know any of these people....Buddy Hield,  Keldon Johnson,  Clint Capela, Malcolm Brogdon,  Gary Trent Jr.,  or John Collins.  I didn't think so.  These are just a few NBA players that NOBODY KNOWS, who make between 18 and 25 million dollars a year, to help Lebron James make 47 million dollars a year, and owners, and equipment, and shoe makers, a WHOLE CRAP LOAD MORE MONEY THAN THAT.

The guys who miss the cut, allow there to be a golf tournament, which IS THE REASON all of the club manufacturers , and ball makers, and shoe makers,  can pay the stars all the money, to make even more money for themselves.  The PGA is mad because it and all of the equipment manufactures, and everyone involved with the game of golf is realizing that the amount of people willing to be FREE LABOR, for them is going away.  The "Genie" is out of the bottle, and there is no putting him back in.

    Great post. 👏

  2. Scotty will fall at some point.... like all the rest do/have. He's having an incredible run right now but, it won't last. Ask Tiger, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, etc....

I like Scotty for many reasons.... I just don't drink the koolaid when it comes to golf. 😉

  3. Golf is an equal opportunity hater. 😉 Scotty is on top 'now'... just like DJ, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth were some time ago. No one is immune to it. Someone else will have his time as the 'golden boy' after Scotty. It's a vicious cycle. 😁

This reminds me of the whole "people should dress up to fly on a airplane" conversation I have seen in the past, no I will dress how I feel comfortable and that is cargo shorts and a golf shirt that breathes and is untucked unless I am forced by a course to dress differently.

Some posters on here need to worry about themselves, not everyone else. Pace of play, divot repair and green fixing is far more important.

My rule would be no camo on the course including bags and hats, the camo craze is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. 😁

I have a 320 lb. buddy that would vehemently disagree with you. I don't think he leaves his house without some kind of camo on him. 😁

  5. I have the opposite problem. I have a pin head.😁 Every hat I wear has to be adjusted to almost as small as it will go. It looks ridiculous.😂 Therefore, I dislike hats. Unfortunately, I'm follically challenged so, going hatless on a golf course is a no no. Those of you with 'normal' size noggins are blessed.😉

  6. I don't care one way or the other. Personally, I don't bother with it. It's just another thing to have to contend with.... changing stations/skipping songs because you don't like what's playing, up down the volume, etc.... I'd much rather just concentrate on screwing up the round without help. 😄

If music bothers you so much that you can't play because of it.... maybe you should take up Tennis.... they frown on any outside noise as much as golfers do. 😂

... Amen brother! I am a HUGE believer in getting to know just one wedge and using it for every shot round the green. When I got my first 60* I made many of the mistakes many Am's make and decided to not only practice more, but use it for every shot from 50yds and in. My old playing pard and I would play 18 and then go to 11 right next to the parking lot and play a competition with our lob wedges. We took turns putting balls in impossible as well as easy spots and whoever got up and down in the least strokes won. It made practice fun as well as teaching us to use our LW's in different and creative ways. My goal was to become proficient enough with my 60*  to play any shot then move on to other wedges. I enjoyed playing my LW so much I never got around to other wedges and feel I can get up and down from virtually anywhere around the green. The only shot I don't have is the long running chip that gets on the ground quickly and rolls like a putt to the hole.

... I now use a 52*/58* combo because pw's kept getting stronger and I don't need any other wedges. The only time I use the 52* is long bunker shots or long pitches into a strong wind when I need to keep the flight down.

This is me these days. I use my 54* for almost every shot around the green. Sometimes I use my 50* for a few shots farther away that need to roll out a bit more. Other than that, I should take the 58* out of the bag.... nothing good ever comes of using it 😅.

  8. Do what you want. Makes no difference to me. I drink, so I'm not about to get on a soap box. Personally, I won't take anything into my lungs on purpose, other than air...lol. I watched too many people I cared about die from smoking. My father died a  very slow death from COPD, mother, uncle, father and mother in law, aunts... lung cancer. I'll just stick to beating up my liver... lol.

I used to live in Ohio on the north side of Columbus.  My day off was Tuesday, so that's when my wife and I played.

There used to be so much good public golf in Ohio and we could always find a course for $18.00 ($1 per hole) for walkers.  Most of the time, if we tried to play a second round, the pro shop people would just wave us through with no extra charge.

I remember playing 36 holes Fire Ridge GC near Johnstown (closer to Cleveland) for $18 a piece.  It was a pretty hilly course and our Clic carts were invaluable.  The same happened at Black Diamond GC, which was even hillier.  Playing in the Fall was unbelievably gorgeous.

I remember thinking that there was no need to be a member if you were trying to save money.

There is still a lot of affordable golf in Ohio. Some of my favorite courses are no longer affordable... for me. I haven't played my favorite in 5 years because of the increase in greens fees. I'm sure $75.00 isn't a lot to some of you, but it is a substsntial amount to me.

I’m with you there. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the look of a nice lawn but I’m not willing to put forth the time, effort, and money to keep it going. I tell myself every year that I want to change my ways but I’m pretty good at talking myself out of it when spring gets here.

Me too...lol. It only takes a couple of weeks of mowing what seems like at least every other day in the Spring to kill any  thought of actually caring about my lawn. Then, there is the matter of mulch, tree and shrub trimming....................... I'd starve as a Landscaper... 😬

Sounds crazy but growing a healthy, thick lawn can be a multi-year process.... 🤷‍♂️

Gotta have just the right amount of watering, the right types and amounts of fertilizer at the right times (I use a service for that!) and weed/bug killer, aeration twice a year ... 🤦‍♂️

But if you like the look of a nice green lawn it's worth it!

I'm probably the odd guy on here... I hate lawn work... all of it. I love when my lawn turns brown in July and August so I don't have to mow every other day. 🤣
