Ok guys & gals I requested  a fitting for 2/17 at the Kingdom.  I'm a bit nervous as all the youtube videos are showing LOW handicapers striping shots down the range. I'm a 12 handicap and shoot mostly around 80 - 84 with some upper 70's here ad there. I'll probably show up  nervous as a fat rat at a cat ranch.... Anyways being 72 I figure I have maybe 10 good years of decent ball striking left in this old body so I'll give it a shot. It could be $300.00 bucks down the toilet or it could be an eye opening experience.  I plan on doing a mini review of my journey once the dust settles.   Prayers will be appreciated! 😁

I replaced it a couple of years with a 5 hybrid. I've really tried using it again and it's been in and out of my bag several times. I've pulled it out completely. I cannot reliably hit it and the hybrid is so much better.

Echoing the sentiments of comments already made by @Josh Parker & @GolfSpy_BEN, slow play, whether it is blatant or ignorant bliss, is by far what irks me the most on the course. It throws me out of a rhythm and annoys me to the point that sometimes I am better off just walking off or strictly treating the remainder of the round as practice.
Watching a foursome on the green where three who are not putting stand around, then line up their putt only when it is their turn, irritates me to no end!!!

I do not have many, I don't care if you walk in my line or talk during my swing, really does not bother me but these two REALLY bother me.
-As many have said slow play. I cannot deal with this lol. I am fine if your slapping the ball around, going OB or playing two balls but just be ready to play and don't spend 5 minutes looking for your ball. If you're spraying it just bring a lot of balls and drop one man!
-The other is screaming loudly or banging your clubs on the course. First of all I get being frustrated and getting the "rrrrrrr" out but you dont need to be screaming obscenities really loud, do it under your breath. The other damaging the course is my BIGGEST pet peeve. Dont damage it man, its hard enough to maintain.

Along this vein, watching a slow-playing foursome in front of you all search for a lost ball. The absolute worst.

Waiting on the group in front of me and watching them not understanding ready golf.  I played this past weekend and the group in front of us had 3 carts they wouldn't drive over to their ball across the fairway and waited for the first cart to hit before going to theirs.

Whether it be with mannerisms or course layout or something else that just drives you nuts... What is it?
I'll start, mine is when people aren't ready to hit when it's their turn. I used to golf with one of my father-in-law's friends and every time it was his turn to hit, he would still be in the cart carrying on conversation, finishing a smoke, and just oblivious to everything else going on. Needless to say, I don't golf with him anymore.

That is exactly what was happened to me. I would go to the next hole and realize the shots didn't register on the right hole. I was getting to the point where I was not having fun playing and more time adding shots that were missed. I returned them and got my money back.

You get to do it five times and I have now done four of them making tweaks to my answers.  In all four tries, the most recommended ball was the Bridgestone Tour B X (about a 96% match).  Surprised me as I am 67 and certainly don't have a swing speed like Bryson DeChambeau.  But, MGS recommended this ball as a balanced ball for mid swing speed people and the B XS as a balanced ball for slow swing speed players (it was my third recommendation in most the ways I did it (around a 92.4% fit).
The balls I regularly play - a MaxFli Tour (2001) was 91% fit but the Pro V1 was only an 85% fit!  Interesting.  In one run, the Pro V1x Left Dash was the third recommendation at 93%.
When I asked it to include some more value priced balls, it recommended the Wilson Triad (91.2% match) and a Srixon Q Star Tour (90.3%) match.  In this run, the MaxFli Tour was only an 89.7% match. Even taking price into account, the Bridgestone B X was #1, but in this case (I assume it was downgraded on price) it was only a 91.7% match.
So, I guess next stop is to try some Bridgestone B X golf balls.
Anyone else do this?  How have you liked the recommended balls?

Main goals are to play smart (course management) and have fun. I'm paying to do this. I may get frustrated if it doesn't go as planned. I just try and remember the good shots.

I use LostGolfBalls.com and GolfBallsDirect.com. I normally get the 5A Pro V1's. I got 4 dozen at Christmas from GolfBallsDirect.com for about $23 a dozen. I've never had an issue of playability and losing one in the woods or water is not as painful. I've also tried Bridgestone Tour B RX and at much cheaper prices gives me the opportunity to try new brands. I had an issue once with LostGolfBalls.com order. The balls didn't seem to be the 5A that I paid for. I contacted customer service and they sent me replacements of the ones that were not what they should have been.

I like Callaway. They feel great and with no swing restrictions. They wick sweat and keep me cool. I like that they do not fade from the sun. I can find deals on them from many of the online golf stores and direct from Callaway.

Adding to the previous comments... Welcome to the Forum and Congratulations on breaking 80!!
I have been playing the AVX balls recently (as a gift from my kids 🙂 ) and it has been performing well for me too.  I also really like the Maxfli Tour CG and they have slightly different profiles between them... so it is less easy to switch back and forth... I tend to play one or the other so I have a good feel on what the ball will do related to spin mostly.  One thing I have noticed, and really like about the AVX - due to the lower spin... that is also evident on full shots... low spin reduces side spin as well... so my drives and full iron shots are a little straighter on shots hit with side spin.  That could be a plus or minus depending on your game and how you control full shot spin, but something I wanted to mention.
I tried the Z Star, the XV and the Diamond, and they are all really good balls... different profiles with each of course.   Of the three, my fav is the Z Star for my swing, but the Maxfli performs almost identically to that at a better price point.

Not a whole lot I can add that hasn't already been said. The newest AVX is obviously heads and shoulders better than the previous iteration in terms of greenside performance, but still going to be one of the lowest spinning options. The AVX is also a pretty low-flight ball and unless you need that, you're probably better suited for something with a little more height. The Z-Star is definitely going to fly higher, feel a little firmer, and should spin more than the AVX.
I suppose my main question is why are you limiting yourself to just these two models? Are you trying to stay with a softer feel? Are there other balls you've experimented with but didn't like? And if so, what about them didn't you like?
(and congrats on breaking 80!! just be careful, it can get addicting 🙂 )
