I usually walk so when it is CPO I generally don't play that day. If it's too wet for carts that means it'll be too wet/muddy for my taste. I'll head to the range on those days.

Made it down to AL. Rain like cats and dogs the past 2 days. Back home I hear it was sunny and mid 60's. Not fair. I need a brew for sure. Spouse is happy spent time at outlet mall.

Day 121 (17 May 24) - Plans fell thru for a good friend and I to play a nearby course…called my son and we played Minnesott.  We followed  the men’s group out and had a very fun and relaxed round.  One of those rare days where ball striking was super consistent, distances predictable, and putts going in….shot 39 on the front (including a triple bogie 8 on the par 5 6th (lost ball in the ditch off the tee)).  Head stayed in the game as I went par-birdie-par to finish the front.  Kept pace with a 37 on the back with a birdie on 10 and dbl bogie on 16 bookending five consecutive pars. Finished the back with two more pars.  A personal best 76!
Just wanted to add that those DCI 962 irons were the bees knees in the irons dept….

Was able to get out after work and hit one of the local clubs, Fox Hollow, and do some putting work with the DF3. Set up around the hole 4 circles: 3', 5', 7' and 10'.
Data drop: went around the horn twice and the numbers are
The DF3 is taking some getting used to, but I can honestly say that it feels "consistent" in it's delivery: my dispersions are becoming tighter. Dispersion from 10':
Afterwards, I left the markers in for 3', 5', 7' and 10' and set up first at 30' and then at 20' to work distance control / "lag" putting. Objective to obviously get it in the hole, but get as close as possible within the rings set up.
Overall a good day on the practice green!
The Black Mamba started a conversation, and it went something like this: "What the hell is that? OH! Is that the spaceship putter? Do you mind if I .... " Of course I said "Absolutely! Please, take a look!" He was very interested in the Mamba, and I explained to him what I was doing: he saw me measuring out my markers and the Mamba and we started chatting. I turned him on to the forum, so I hope that he, Patrick, is here and is reading this! If you are here, Welcome! You're gonna LOVE this place! It's full of great people, tons of information and the knowledge base is second to none!
Enough of my long windedness.. I'll include a link to this post in my L.A.B. thread as well.
Have a great evening MGS Nation! Hit 'em straight! 🏌🏼   ⛳

Data golf site is about how professionals rank based on captured shotlink data.
Stagner is about analysis of how Typically amateurs  that use arccos perform and comparison to professionals.  It’s more about expectation management.
Fawcett is about course management and mental focus.

I think all three provide a different viewpoint and provide interesting information.   They are accurate in what they present so I don’t subscribe to one over the other since they are doing something different.

When I did play it I couldn't stand it. Just not something that is enjoyable. That said it has been years and years since I have had to play CPO. All the courses here are basically walking only which means not having to worry about it!

First, if I'm able to play a round with all this rain, CPO doesn't matter to me one little bit. I won't play in the rain, snow, or below 50*. But CPO is all good.
I do tend to run out of gas towards the end of the round, depending on how much walking I've had to do. I'm trying to get better at drinking water between every shot, have snacks handy every 4-5 holes along with a PB&J at the turn. But unlike you, I'm very out of shape (although round is a shape) and I know it. It's something I'll be working on throughout the summer/season to get into better shape (other than round) for all the right reasons.
I'm not an accurate enough ball striker to play to the paths all the time, and quite honestly it doesn't always pay to do so. When we drive up to the area across from my ball, I get a quick distance reading then grab a few clubs around that distance and take them all out with me so I don't have to be "that guy" taking just 1 club out with me then realizing I need a different one, and you know how the rest of that story goes.
Ultimately I just do a better job planning the clubs I take out with me to my ball to ensure I have all distances and lies covered with those clubs. But I don't plan my shots any differently than I would on normal days.

Good choice, but in my case,
I'm looking for a card game in the clubhouse instead.

... Thankfully with 300 days of sunshine we don't get much rain here in Phoenix. Sometimes up to 6 or 7 months with zero rain. 🙄  So when we do get some rain we all love it. I walk with a remote cart from Oct-May and ride when the heat seems to reside between 105*-115* from June - September.

... The thing I dislike most about CPO is not seeing my shot as I approach my ball. While walking or even riding up to my ball in a cart, I am envisioning my next shot depending on the pin, the wind and how I am swinging that day. Approaching from the side with my cart on the path does not give me that option and just throws off my normal routine. So taking as many as 4 clubs with me is a Pia as well as changing the way I approach my shot.

This is a very interesting topic!
The "all things equal" qualifier never seems to happen for me!  With irons, I have hit fades that land as far as my draws but seem to check up better than my draws.  That's probably the increase in spin, but my fades (the well hit ones anyway) tend to fly lower than my draws so maybe that is why the distance stays equivalent between them.
My most frequent iron miss is what i call the wipey fade which does end up about 7 yards short and 10 yards right of the target.  I don't get the club face back to square, it is open and the ball slides up the face rather than being compressed.  I can feel it immediately and don't even have to look to know it will be short & right.
With driver if I am not playing for a shot shape and hit a draw the ball seems to hit the slightly high toe side spot most frequently.  If a fade shows up in that scenario the face impact is almost always slightly low toward the heel.  I definitely get shorter shots with the fade and I think that is the increased spin related to the impact spot on the club face.
I have hit driver fades and draws off sweet spot contact which go about the same distance.  I don't have trackman numbers to back it up but the feel to me is that the slight difference is my swing path.  On the well struck fades off the sweet spot I feel like I have not opened the face but the path is outside to in.  I call those the power fade.  Draws feel like an inside to out path.  My swing thought to hit those shapes is all about my hand position on the follow through, high hands for a fade and low hands for a draw.  I don't think about changing the swing path at all, just hand position on the follow through.  Although I am sure that I am doing something subconsciously in the swing to get the desired follow through hand position.

All things equal they should go the same distance.   What happens is that a draw typically has a little less spin and more ball speed since a fade is a little more of a glancing blow.

Maybe someone can answer this. Why does a draw get more distance than a fade.
Assuming all things equal ball side spin left and right, launch angle. The ball has symmetrical dimples so both should get the same lift rate. I just can’t figure out why a draw gets you more yardage.
I never could draw the ball. But I got a lesson from Hank Haney last night via You Tube (I’m not rich). So today I took my new found skill on the golf course and the first dog leg left I gave it a try. It was a beauty, and I was closer to the green on that hole than ever before.  Well at least I have a new skill in the bag now. I wasn’t a one shot wonder either. I did it a few times.

Went out with the intent to play today, but after 4 holes the thunder started and the sheets of horizontal rain and 60mph winds happened. Of course, I was at the furthest point. Rain jacket and umbrella really didn't help much on the walk back in. Oh well, good practice and a soft water shower too boot.

Regardless, welcome to the forums. This a great place to ask questions and onbtain some good advice. You'll find that not everyone agrees with each other and that in and of itself is great. You still need to decide. But you'll have lots of information. I'm of the mind set to try before you buy and for the first set not to go hog wild on costs. You may decide golf isn't for you so you don't want to go in debt. I do recommend getting a few lessons from local pro if possible to start your journey out correctly.
