1. The nice thing about one of the watches, V3 or X5, is that other than marking the location of each putt if you use Manual putting mode, and marking the hole location in both Manual and Auto mode, you don't have to interact with it at all if you don't; want to. I don't use scoring, and I am familiar enough with the course I belong to that I don't need yardages to hazards, so I barely look at it during a round.  I then spend a few minutes after the round editing to correct any wrong information, such as the type of lie. It rarely misses a shot, and the data I have accumulated is revealing.

I have been keeping score on my watch for a long time (a holdover from my old Garmin S20). That cadence doesn't bother me while playing. Since I had a golf watch before getting a laser Ranger Finder, I find it easier to use my watch to check yardage and use the hole map features. None of that slows me or my playing group down. Marking the flag can be the only time I'm slowing down play.

However, as you said, I'm not checking to see if my watch picked up a club before swinging that part is almost automatic.

2. With the x5 or v3 watch you don’t actually have to activate the tag. I’ve had very few time that the watch didn’t pick up a shot and it’s pretty easy to edit in the app post round. The bad thing with the x5 watch in my opinion is that a lot of the time navigating through the watch can feel clunky at time but other than that I absolutely love the watch and all the data it provides.

Concur on the menu navigation. I would love the ability to create my own shortcuts. But that is just a minor request. I’m enjoying the new features on my X5.

3. You preselect the 9's on your phone? I have the same issue of 3 - 9's. Most times we don't know which nine we're playing until we check in. However, I was unaware that both nines can be preselected.
In the past I would change to the proper back 9 before stopping by the men's room between the 9's then lose gps sat (more often with the V3 then X5) , and forget to reset it for the proper 9 including gps/tracking. With the X5, I found that I can just wait with screen on 'play back 9' til I get to the first tee on the back and then select the course & gps/tracking. It would be nice to preselect but my sense is that courses that have 3 - 9's are few and far between.
Given my choice for programming initiatives between preselecting 9's or being able to download data to an excel file I'd chose the latter.

I don’t think you can preselect the 9 holes before playing on the phone.

I’m use to selecting the play back 9 with no issues but I was trying to accomplish multiple things before teeing off and I can only assume something went wrong.

I also joined a course that has 3 - 9s. The Clubhouse dictates which of the two 9s will be played & the Starter reiterates said assignment(s).

I know that I had to be careful/specific to select the correct 9 - both on my watch (club tracking) & on my phone (GPS mapping) -  before teeing off on each 9.

As @PhilM75072suggested, reach-out to ShotScope & detail the issue you experienced. They have always responded within 1-2 days (+ the time difference). They just remapped a hole on an 'away' course for me this past week because the green was off by a few yards (I was on the green, but my watch said I was 6 yards off the green). Stuff happens.

@nupezb I agree it would be nice to select/specify which 9s are being played - and in what order - before starting a round 👍. We won't know if the question isn't posed/asked to ShotScope, so include that in your email, too.

I would like to see the GPS Mapping (on the phone) auto-advance to the hole I'm playing, as my watch does, rather than me having to advance it....something I invariably forget to do. Engineering Baby Steps: First, we prove A. Then, we prove B. Then, we prove A+B together. It's a process.

I'm happy to report that, after sitting in a drawer through a 5-month 'off season' (damn Indiana weather 🤬), my X5 performed 'flawlessly'. Yes, a couple of missed shots that I had to manually add - that's on the User (ME) not ensuring the club is 'tagged' before each shot. ZERO missed putts using Auto-mode. And a couple of instances of having to press 'back' on the watch because it was on a screen I didn't expect - will continue to monitor (as I don't wear a glove).

All-in-all....it's simply nice to be able to be on a golf course again!! 🥳

Yes I will email support with my issues.

5. Today, I used my X5 watch with firmware version 2.1.84 for the second time. At my home course has three 9-hole courses (Red, White, Blue), I played the White and Blue courses.

The Good: I had no issues using my X5 with satellite acquisition, club selection, or P-AVG lines during my 4+ hour round. The battery was at 40% after playing.

The Bad: When I synced with my phone, not all holes were captured, and it showed me playing the front nine (White course) twice.

The WTF: Despite selecting the blue course at the turn, hole tracking was mixed up. Because I was in a hurry to grab a quick bite at the turn, I didn’t finish telling the X5 I wanted to use GPS& Track and Scoring. I corrected this issue before teeing off (at least I thought I did). I used the Personalized Hole Maps feature before teeing off and it showed correct holes on the back nine, suggesting a syncing issue. Despite this, only the first 8 holes were captured on the front nine, and only holes 6-9 were captured on the Back Nine (showing the wrong course). This discrepancy raises questions about the accuracy of hole selection and syncing processes.

Recommendation: Enable the selection of two courses for rounds on courses with multiple 9-holes before teeing off to ensure smoother operation and accurate hole tracking.

6. Last April, I made the switch from Arccos to ShotScope primarily because of the X5 and the absence of subscription costs. Initially, I was quite critical of the X5 due to its connectivity issues, as many of us experienced. However, I must applaud their customer service and IT team for their outstanding support. Today, I finally had the chance to play a round with update 2.1.84, and I'm happy to say that I didn't encounter any issues whatsoever. I found the update to be highly beneficial, especially in assessing my drive P-AVG and examining the full-hole layout. Big shoutout to the ShotScope staff for their exceptional work!

7. Create the new clubs in My Bag, install the tags on the clubs, assign the clubs to the appropriate tags in My Bag. The new clubs will show up in the Performance in a different color so you can easily compare them.

Thanks. Since it’s snowing here I have some time but I’m looking forward to comparing my clubs in the spring.

8. As background - I play a course that has 3 nines so I always have to select 'play back 9' when I'm playing 18. The first several months I used the X5 I had the 'scoring' option on and after it loaded the course, it would ask yes on no for scoring. If I didn't immediately select via the bezel, it reverted back to the clock face.  My thinking is that this option is on and that part of the round (back 9) is not captured. As to why it didn't capture all of the front 9 without intervention, I can't help you on that.

Good point. Yes, my home course also has 3 nines too. In my transition to the back nine, I may not have selected to keep score. I’m still slightly disappointed because I hit some good shots on the back nine and wanted to review their yardages.

9. Interesting - more info please. Was the second nine on the same course and immediately following? If immediately after and you selected the 'play back 9 feature' it would show distances to the hole - did it in your case? At the end of the round did it show time played, steps, etc?

After finishing my first nine holes, I chose the 'play back 9 feature'. I got a drink before starting the back 9. When I checked my watch, I noticed it had returned to the watch face. So, I reselected the GPS, chose "play & track," and continued with my round. After completing my round, I selected "end round." My score was only recorded for the back nine, so I expected to have two separate 9-hole rounds instead of a complete 18-hole round. I'm wondering why my back nine was not recorded and why my front nine was spilt.

10. I played 18 holes, which were split into two separate 9-hole rounds. When I tried to sync them with my watch, only the first nine holes were recorded, but they were split into two events, one for holes 1-7 and another for holes 6-9. I'm aware I can ask for support to merge them into one, but the data for the back nine didn't sync at all. My watch history is now empty, and I'm quite frustrated with this watch.

11. Not sure how riding in a cart could affect battery life - our course here in Florida is so spread out that you can only ride. I typically have anywhere from high 40 to low 50% after playing 18. Note; I also have my X5 unlocked.

Indeed, it seems like my battery might be faulty. In an attempt to gauge its performance as an everyday watch, I monitored the battery life of my X5. It managed to last approximately 21 hours across two days.

Additionally, I've never had 50% battery left after completing an 18-hole round.

12. I only use mine unlocked. It is on approximately an hour before teeing off, then about three hours for the round itself, then another half hour or so to get home and upload the round. I don't think my battery life has ever shown less than about 55% (usually 60% or better) when I plug it in.

Impressive! That’s roughly my total time too. I’m happy with having 40% when done. Again, I’m not sure what is causing the battery drain differences.

13. I'm waiting for an update that can enhance battery efficiency. Today, I participated in a scrabble golf tournament using my X5 exclusively in GPS mode. Despite starting with a full charge, after a slightly over 5-hour round, my battery plummeted to just 11%. This unpredictable battery drain leaves me uncertain whether my watch will endure an entire round each time I use it.

I believe I've identified a potential issue. When I use my unlocked X5, I noticed that the battery dropped significantly to 11% and 4% while riding in a cart. Typically, when I walk the golf course, my battery hovers around 40%.

My theory is that having my watch unlocked might lead to unexpected battery drain due to excessive movement, but this is just a guess.

15. The other day, I fully charged my X5 watch to 100%. After unplugging it, I went to sleep with the intention of wearing it the next day. However, when I woke up, the watch was at 51% and stuck on the charging display instead of going into sleep mode.

Yesterday, while heading to the golf course for a quick 9 holes, I plugged in my watch in case I decided to play 18. Upon unplugging it, the watch still showed the charging screen and wouldn't change. I had to perform a reset and sync to get it working again.

I have attached the shot from yesterday after I unplugged it and it still shows charger. 86603d431a27a9389bda5b41bbda3aa6.jpg

16. Welcome back me!! Great to be a Shot Scope user again   First round with the X5 & it was like playing with a true friend again.

After a 3:44 round in some of the worst humidity Indiana has to offer, the X5 had 56% battery left, so I was unfazed.

The best part? Not having to look at my !@#$%^ phone a SINGLE time during the round   It's nice to look at my wrist & know what the F/M/B yardage is, pull a club, and just swing. Ironically, it was one of my best rounds of the year.

No added shots....no missed shots (even putts).....and plenty of stats to know where I'm deficient (as if I didn't already know - missing greens pin-high but right or left)
Gavin_Shot_Scope forgive me for I had a brief affair with Arccos but I vow to remain faithful from now on!!

I knew you would be back. Not having to pull my phone out was one of the benefits enjoyed when I switched to SS. @Gavin_Shot_Scope looking forward to the future firmware improvements.
