Sluggo42
So me and my bud were at the Roger Dunn booth trying out 3-woods To cut to the chase, I was swing speed at about 98 mph, and he was around 93 mph, yet our distances were kinda similar I was 3000 rpms, he was 1600-2000 rpm All in the 230-250 yd range... A little draw went further Would that (the spin)make up the difference ? I also found my best hits were with a epic gold on a reg shaft He bought a used m2 on a stiff shaft. I would have thought the higherswing speed would go further...? Flipper554
Spin, angle of attack, quality of contact, launch angle, swing speed does not always equate to distance. There are so many overriding factors. Kor.A.Door
I think the spin could easily account for the distance. You need to find a club shaft combo that will help reduce the spin. I would pay attention to the ball flight, is it doing what you want, is it going the direction and distance you want. By fixing one issue you may create another. This club with 3000 rpm may go straight, cutting that down to 2300 might make the ball go Left or right more often. But to answer the question of the spin causing less distance, I would say yes it can. Lefties are always in their Right Mind
Weekend_Warrior
Yeah spin can cause a difference in distance. It sounds like you were both hitting different 3 woods (brands and setups) and since it is two different people's swings it would be hard to say that spin was specifically the culprit in your scenario. JAGolfore
I agree with above. Spin definitely can be the difference. Your buddy has very low spin numbers for a 3 wood. Sluggo42
Maybe I should take my driver and 3-wood back to roger Dunn and see if they would swap in some different shafts to see if we could find a better shaft. He bought a new Rogue driver last week and he's sure he can out drive my trusty 816. He would have a cow if I showed up next week with a new shaft that git's er done... If you're angle of attack is too steep there's really no shaft that's going to correct that.

revkev
You're playing pretty good golf, so long no as that spin doesn't include too much axis tilt I wouldn't monkey with it too much. Rekklss
Seems to me that the launch monitor you are being checked on is off. At that swing speed ... 93-95 mph ... 230 yard 3 wood ? Maybe you live in high elevation ... Just saying ... Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Maybe you live in high elevation ... Just saying ... My guess is he is saying total distance and not carry. Most people taking distance provide how far the ball went, not how far it carried. Either way, when looking at distance you can't just consider swing speed. I would say ball speed is a better number and then factor in spin and launch angle.
