I haven’t physically been to South Louisiana to see my coach in a couple years, so I also haven’t paid him for an hour in quite awhile. With the erratic play I’ve shown lately, I need to go back to my original swing I was working on with this coach since those skills were the most ingrained from three years worth of quarterly lessons.

So, I texted him today and said that I can’t get down there for a lesson, but I’d like to send him some video to evaluate. I asked him how much it would cost. He texts me back, “0”. Zero. Nothing. I texted him back, “Are you serious?!” He said yes.... Wow! Not even $50!!!! ZERO! I’ve never heard of a coach doing an online lesson “pro-bono”, or not charging a lower fee than in-person.

How many of you have a coach that would do this? Curious....

You did 3 years of lessons with him so you have a history. Every instructor is unique so you really can’t compare. Maybe he is thinking that if he does the initial evaluation you will sign up for some future coaching. A free lesson or evaluation isn’t unheard of and is often a way to generate future business

I’ve worked with 3 other coaches since, and each one of them wouldn’t evaluate video without payment! Crazy.

HA!  the only "Pro" I have is the one between my ears... he doesn't charge a dime.  He does yell at me quite a bit though.

A while back, when I lived in Vegas, my wife bought ($180) me a lesson with one of Butch Harmon's guys (Shawn Callahan)...One lesson!!!  Shawn did some video analysis with comments and sent it with me for things to work on.  As I would work on these things and video myself, I would send it to him for his thoughts / suggestions.  He would always respond within a day, but I stopped sending him stuff when I realized that I wasn't going to be able to continue to go to him for coaching...I just didn't feel right about taking his time away from people that were continually going to him and paying him.
