Made a lot of mistakes….2 penalties, several 3 putts one 4 putt and 2 Birdies. Weather was great…low 50’s to 80*. I had two terrific shots with my new Edison wedges…first, a bunker shot (57*) that resulted in a par, then a chip in Birdie with the 53* wedge. I love my new Edison’s.

Had a mixed 9 holes today. On the bright side, I was hitting the ball great!!! Unfortunately, my short game was in the dumpster. Any wedge shot equaled a horrible slice. Couldn't get it out of my head and just kept doing it.

Nevertheless, I was killing my driver. Not only did I break my previous long drive record, I broke it twice!! I little wind help is always appreciated lol. Either way, I averaged a little over 300 on my drives today and even managed to put a 3W tee shot in a creek at 303.

If I can get my wedges to play ball, I'll be killing it.

Decent weather on the front 9 where I played my worst. Weather got rainy on hole 10 and magically my game comes “together”.

2 net eagles and 2 net birdies one of which was an actual birdie.  Playing again tomorrow and hoping for better luck.

The last two rounds I've come back to earth with my game.  I had a real life example of how having the right driver/shaft combination is worth it's weight in gold.  My cracked Ping G400 SFT driver is making it's cross country trip home to Phoenix.  Thanks to great Ping customer service I'm in process of getting a G425 SFT replacement.  Until then, I picked up a shaft that fit a friend's Callaway Epic Speed driver and put that into play.  I lost three drives into the water, trees or OB yesterday and hit a little over 50% of the fairways.

image.png.cabfc7341ae5eb36c2d5d095da72435b.png

With my Ping G400, the driving accuracy below represents my typical round of fairways hit.

image.png.0fb99d459f5b45b6c8e416a819b3cf9e.png

It ultimately took it's toll on my scoring.  Thanks to five up and downs and decent putting, I was able to control the damage.

I'm guessing it will be a couple of weeks before my new G425 SFT arrives, so don't expect too many miracle rounds from me until I have it in my hands and get a chance to exercise it a little bit.

Slow posting this but I did get another 9 in on Tuesday to finish my "round". Great weather, helpful wind, and short game was much better than Monday's round. Almost beat my long drive from Monday but I got caught on the hill and ended up rolling down to the gutter by the tree line. Still a long one but just not in a great position for my 2nd stroke.

On average, once every 3-4 months I break 80.  My last was October 18th, 2022.  So, statistically I was likely due for a good round even though I've not played my best for about a week.  Today was the day!  I'm sort of glad the men's league didn't want me to pee in a cup and have it tested for performance enhancing substances.

I had only 24 total putts with a total distance made of 91 ft and my first putt distance was 11 feet.  Sounds OK until you take a closer look and see that due to good two-putting and chipping, half of the putts were 4 ft. or less.  That includes at least 2 or 3 that hung on the lip!  I only had 10 putts on the back nine, including finishing with eight one putts in a row.  It's my fifth round with my new L.A.B. Directed Force 2.1 putter, and I have to say it's been one of the best golf investments I've made in a long time!

image.pngimage.png.da63146fbeedd6708c5205403208e2a6.png

I had 4.91 strokes gained via my putting.  For the first time in a long time three greens in regulation and one hole where I actually ran through the green.  My approach shot strokes gained was also an all time high of 4.42.   My usually good short game was less that 0.5 strokes gained.

The strange thing that happened was that twice (hole 1 and 13), I left a sand shot in the bunker, got out and made the putt for a bogey.

I wish I had a good reason for the great day that I had.  Maybe it was the Masters green shirt with the Jack Nicklaus commemorative six Masters win hat that I wore today.  It's a better excuse than my skill level!

Rain delay until 9:00, but course played well even with cart path only. Temps in low 50’s to low 60’s. Still trying to figure out what holes I need to hit 5 wood rather than driver….had one birdie on Par 4 #12.

Strange round worth a huge gap between my best and worst. 3 birdies, and another 4 net birdies, a triple and a double. Hottest conditions I’ve played in for a long while, but managed the heat well.

Cooooold and windy weather in Fl. Kinda felt like early spring golf in northern Ohio. Been home for a couple of hours now and still not warmed up. The weather report says 'feels' like 46. Felt more like 36. Temp was 50 with gusts up to 25+. How windy was it? I used my 165 yd club on a 122 yd par 3 into the wind. Fortunately temps back into the mid 70's by the middle of the week.

Actually did better than I thought I would.  New course, after a long week of being stuck in conference chairs, too much long nights and early mornings.

It was a gorgeous day to be out, best of the week.  Cool but clear to start and stayed that way until #16 where high clouds came in and kept it from getting too warm.  Absolutely beautiful course.  Got a couple of good chips that left me with easy tap ins, though the rest of the putting could have been improved.  Found the water a few times.  Found the sand alot!

Kept my fairway accuracy up as none of the holes required much more than a 5 iron off the tees.  I was hitting my irons pretty well that day and was getting between 160-175 with my 5, usually what my 4 wood does for me.

3 net birds, 1 net eagle for a total of 5.  188 best drive.   Get rid of all of the penalties and extra putts and I would have had a decent score!

If you play 11 times in 21 days, I guess there's a chance one might just put three good rounds together.  Luckily for me, each one fell on the first consecutive weeks of 2023!  I'm pretty sure that after a three-peat, the only place I can go is downhill from here!  The strange part is that even with those three winning scores, my index has dropped less than 1 point.  That tells you how bad the other eight rounds were!

Then again, we've playing with a weather-related restricted field, which is a little like playing on the PGA Tour after the Tour Championship.   The tour leaders take a well-deserved rest and the remaining players are doing their best to build for a solid next year start.  I put myself in the later category!

I wear the black jacket with pride knowing that it's only rented, and it will find a more deserving player this coming week.

40 degrees and wet start but ended in the high 50s! Happy to get out.

I suspect you have a data entry issue on this round.  I think your gross strokes over is likely 1, so you broke even.

@Mr. MushballI shot a 73 and the course handicap was 1 shot (so I get a one shot cushion). Thus with the handicap my net score is 72. Right?

Yes, but the form asks for gross over/under par, then calculates to net based on handicap.  The way it was entered it stuck you at the bottom of the list with a +72 instead of a 0 to tie for 3rd.
