Tips for x baseball player

Recommended Posts

I'm still struggling with my grip and stance. I'm starting to interlock my fingers but it still doesn't feel right I've played baseball/adult softball since I was 6 only picked up golf last year didn't know if anybody had any tips on getting more comfortable with not using a "baseball grip" I feel like I'm always casting I got with a instructor and he seems to be helping me with my casting but I still hit better shots with m fingers not interlocked is it okay to not interlock I have just heard its not something your suppose to do. any tips or drills would be well appreciated I have a few from my instructor but I seem to be going the wrong way i feel like the drills and tips he has given me is making me play worse not better or do I just need to trust the process

There are a lot of instructors that want you to use a certain type of grip while holding the club. Small hands short fingers should interlock. Larger hands with longer fingers should overlap. But most steer you away from a baseball grip / 10 finger grip. The goal with any grip is to get your hands working together as one. The baseball grip will tend to allow you to try to push the club with your right hand and allow you to grip it too strongly. That is something you don't want to do. Saying all that you are the one swing the club and you have to be comfortable.

I have a medium sized hand but longer fingers so I should overlap. I actually interlock with my irons and hybrid but I baseball grip my woods. Totally not the norm but it works for me. Do what feels good but just make sure the hands are working together as one. If you go with baseball, just make sure your lower hand is tight up against the upper hand on the club.

PS: Make sure the actual grips on your club are the right size for your hand as well.

It’s ok to not interlock, it’s also to interlock. It’s also ok to use a baseball grip.

Whats important is that the hands are on the club in the correct position. It’s also key to make the swing and grip matchup. Golf swing is a game of matchups.

Since you have an instructor work with him/her on the grip you should use
