mattjamd
I go with wood … biodegradable and less harmful for the greenkeeping crews equipment. Another Steve
Love plastic tees, but I am still using wood until I finally use up all of the various big bags of tees my daughters got me for fathers day or my birthday when they were kids. Hacker60521
Wood tees — the ones I use have stripes on them so it’s easy to set height. Better for the course if I lose one, and when I used to use plastic tees they would sometimes leave marks on the sole of my driver. You also can’t find broken plastic tees lying around the tee box on par threes. Another Steve
Don’t know if they are still out there, but the coolest tee idea i saw was when I played a round at Disney in 2003. The course required that we use a biodegradable tee that they supplied. IIRC it was some sort of compressed corn starch and resembled a hard plastic tee. Dead Solid Bogey
Broke my switchblade screwdriver trying to make a hole for a tee on one of the senior tee boxes. Next stop on the way home is the Hardware store to buy a small but POWERFUL drill… I will not be deterred by the senior citizen concrete tee boxes. When I lived in TN the summer had some pretty hard red clay. I kept a small Phillips screwdriver in my bag to make a hole. Worked great. Note: an ice pick is to dangerous to keep in your bag. Yeppers; seems that geology wasn’t or couldn’t be a consideration when building some courses. However, I a starting to believe that the young golf pro and staff at our club are trying to cull the senior citizen golfer group by inducing a stroke from trying to get a tee into the ground…. I would almost be willing to swear that South Texas caliche is harder than concrete or cement.
