acmoseley
Each year I arrange a golf trip for our group of friends and we typically have a "worst daily golfer" type gag. This year we went to Pinehurst and whoever had the worst net score each round had to rock a set of pink iron covers for the following round (see attached pic). We got a lot of chatter from the caddies each round and everyone had a good laugh about it. For next year's trip I'm looking for some other ideas like this to single out the bad golfer of the day. My first thoughts are to get a custom "I Suck at Golf" flag that they have to attach to their bag/cart for a round, or an obnoxious driver headcover. We can always go back to the iron covers, as they got a good response, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has done something similar or may have additional ideas. I'm also considering a "best daily golfer" award for next year's trip, but can't think of anything other than similar ideas above. Any ideas for this type of award are greatly appreciated as well. vamosjackets, JohnSmalls and Golfspy_CG2 3 Quote -- Andrew Moseley Savannah, GA Link to comment

munirashraf982
Hey there, Muneer here. I absolutely love the pink iron covers idea, hilarious! For the "worst golfer," how about an oversized foam golf ball they have to carry around or a kiddie club set? Or perhaps a custom-made "Golf Dunce" cap? For the "best golfer" of the day, maybe a golden putter trophy or a mini green jacket (Masters-style) that they can wear at dinner. I've also seen some groups use a custom embroidered golf towel with "Champ of the Day" or something similar. Adds a bit of flair to their bag and a fun reminder of the trip! Keep the traditions going and enjoy your next trip! Cheers, Muneer Quote Link to comment
Tallwood88
This is taking a detour from the thread but when I saw this I recalled the pranks we pulled on these buddy trips years ago when we were drinking and partying as much as playing golf. We had 2 rules - nobody gets hurt and no property damage when pulling pranks. The two that stand out are - 1) Getting into your "arch enemy's" room and putting all their toothpaste, soap, deodorant...in the freezer the night before an early tee time. We actually did this at 2am while they slept or passed out is more like it. We were right next door and listening to them the next morning was fantastic. 2) While they are at dinner, stuffing over 100 patio chairs, tables, lounges into their room. That one took a team effort. When others saw what we were doing we had 20 people lugging chairs and things from all over the resort. There is a bunch of other pranks like switching the shafts on the driver and fairway. The confused look at the first tee was beautiful. Taking all he Pro V's out of the bag and replacing them cheap pink balls ... acmoseley 1 Quote Link to comment
Oudefart
Don’t know if you I keep accumulative score, but I used to run a tournament where there were 20 of us. Played lots of different game formats over 5 rounds on a weekend. The winner got a traveling trophy and a blazer (ala Augusta) signed inside by all past winners. The loser got a bowling pin and matching shirt (J.B. - just bad) that they had to wear the 1st round back each year. One guy after winning the bowling pin 2 years in a row, dragged it behind his cart on a rope for a day. Geez All in good fun. TitleistMike
Best round - bag tags, ball markers, bar glass, shotglass, bright light colored shirt they have to wear as leader, not pink. Worst round - headcovers just can't be beat.....budgets permitting...$100 towards first round drinks at dinner...drinks on me.... I would stay away from goofy hat, balls etc as it effects play to some degree. We typically have an annual "Worst Golfer" who contributed the fewest points to their team. Last year was a crappy golfer trophy, but I think we may replace it with a bowling pin this year. Great Idea! Quote -- Andrew Moseley Savannah, GA Link to comment
acmoseley
I knew the MGS Forum would be the right place for this thread. Thank you all for some wonderful ideas. We have a committee meeting next week for our trip and based off this I think we'll probably pitch a few new ideas for the 2024 tournament. Daily Worst Golfer (one per team based on gross score): - Pink & Orange Iron Covers - Custom "I Suck at Golf" flags to attach to the carts/bags - "Poop" Driver Headcover - Judge Smails "free bowl of soup" Hat Weekly Worst Golfer (overall based on points contributed): Used Bowling Pin Trophy - make this an annual trophy that the "winner" has to display in their home for the following year. I'll get a vinyl logo to go on this and add new names from teh bottom up each year. As for the best daily golfer, I'm leaning towards something like a King or Crown driver headcover. Not really looking for this one to stand out much, but would like to have something so the group knows who played the best each round. If anyone has more daily best golfer ideas, please let me know. As for the top golfer of the week, I'm going to look into something like the bowling pin idea, but more golf related so that we can do it as an annual trophy. Thanks again for the ideas, looking forward to a great trip next year! Quote -- Andrew Moseley Savannah, GA Link to comment
