... In the "OK, OK Sam I get it!" 🤪 concerning T200 4 iron, here is the Justin Thomas latest edition to his bag at the Master:

“This is the evolution of trajectory for JT,” Van Wezenbeeck said. “When he turned pro, he played a blade 4-iron. Then we moved him into a [cavity-back]. When we went from AP2 to T100, he went to the T100. Now he’s in the T200. He’s slowly moving up the ladder."

Moving up the ladder? Or just realizing he can still get the workability with the T200 but some added forgiveness (because who doesn't need that?).

... Yup, I think more and more better players are moving to more forgiving irons they can still work if needed. Especially long irons. I know it is a Hot Take but I see no reason anyone (other than just for the joy of it) should be playing MB's when many Players Irons offer everything a MB can do but with added forgiveness on slight mishits. Grand those that grew up with MB's, especially at the highest level might be reluctant to change but even Rory the last player to need more distance, is playing more forgiving long iron with a Stealth Uni and a P760 4 iron.

Yup, I'll never understand why a pro wouldn't look at a CB instead of an MB if the CB does everything the MB does but gives more forgiveness on those not-so-perfect strikes, which do happen to pros. An MB in a 9i or PW is one thing, but even the pros need forgiveness.

If there was one point that would summarize my thought on this set it was how incredibly forgiving the longer irons play.

I shared several 4 iron swings that were not “instagram v reality” because quite honestly, it became so fun to hit knowing I could make the same swing and hit it nearly on center every time.  To the point where I was purposefully telling people here and in person, to give it a shot before assuming you’d need something more forgiving.

Titleist NAILED it with this set.  The T100 is so well designed.

So I think this is where I wish I had maybe gone in a slight different direction with my set.

The T200 5 Iron and I don't really get along. It's a good club no doubt. But I can't help be feeling staying with the T150 would have been a better option.

... Ain't individual equipment experiences always fun? I think the T200 5 iron just might be my favorite club. I use it off the tee on short par 4's and it is so much fun to hit from fairway bunkers and decent lies in the fairway or light rough. Having played the T150's it certainly isn't a night and day difference but still noticeable.

I see more and more pros and top amateurs moving to more forgiving longer irons. Makes perfect sense to employ as much technology and forgiveness as possible if you can still work it. Just like when many started to put hybrids in their bag. Once it was rare and now almost everyone has at least one. There is no stigma anymore and really it’s a results driven game. Use the clubs that fit and help your game achieve your own personal goals.

Play like a champion today!

And that right there is the most difficult part of a fitting when you’re limited to a single iron through a set.  Deciding on makeup in the longer irons.

Sometimes we got lucky…I remind myself often that I in fact, got lucky staying all T100.

Might consider a T350 5I or stoop low and do what us old farts do and throw a hybrid in there. [emoji6]

I actually may go the the t150 5 iron. It feels lighter almost? Maybe? Or at this point it's just in my head so while I have hit many memorable shots I also have a tendency to miss toe side which just sucks.

I was struggling with a toe miss on my 4 and 5 irons (T200) which made me second guess going with a mixed set of the T100 and T200s, I ended up adjusting my hand position slightly and it helped my consistency a lot. Golf clubs are funny though if a few mis-hits cause any doubt it can be tough to hit.

I’ve had a T150 7 iron sitting in my cart for a while now, I’m this close to pulling the trigger. Beyond that, the blended set I was fit into has lived up to expectations and then some. The T150’s are among the best feeling irons I’ve played and the T200  5&6 are effortless distance. Love these irons

I know it’s still early…based on our feedback I find it difficult to believe that any of us would find a reason to boot these from the bag.  Universal praise among all four lines is super impressive.

Yea I held out on irons for this T series and I am not disappointed, pair that with the fitting experience through Titleist I have a level of confidence playing these I've never really had before. I hadn't had a fitting quite at the level before that, convinced me to only purchase clubs after being fit into them.

Yea I held out on irons for this T series and I am not disappointed, pair that with the fitting experience through Titleist I have a level of confidence playing these I've never really had before. I hadn't had a fitting quite at the level before that, convinced me to only purchase clubs after being fit into them.

The Titleist fitting experience is second to none. After going through it, I’m pretty sure I can’t go back to hitting into a net and relying on LM data to tell me if the clubs are right. Getting fit on a range, where the flight shape and distance can be observed, is critical to my comfort with the clubs.

It’s instant validation.

When I tested, it was between Mizuno 223’s and the T100’s.  The Mizuno’s are incredible irons but these were flat out better.  They were so much more precise and for the first time in my golfing career, I had incredible confidence with my irons.  It was not uncommon to play 18 and hit 13 or 14 greens in a round.  I haven’t played this well in years and it’s because of the T100.

My set is still going strong. Only club and have a iffy relationship with us the t200 5 iron. It's a very good club, but for whatever reason it's just a very hit and miss club for me.

... If we all loved the same things what a crazy crowded place the world would be. But if I start playing some other irons, the T200 5 iron will still be in my bag. I may eventually play some different short irons like the Cobra King Tours but the 7-5 T200's are just silly good for my swing. I had 215yds for my second shot on a par 5, a little uphill but a 5mph wind at my back and never considered anything but my T200 5i. Came up just short of the green but I just have so much confidence in that iron I was fine with that. Just a bummer that amazing iron is giving you trouble.

Do you need to get a Titleist fitting in order to get the right composition or are there other options that would work ?

I'm sure there are plenty of options that are high enough quality it wouldn't hurt. The Titleist was great because it was on a range with Pro V1s. The fitter asked if I wanted to know the tweaks or clubs I was hitting or just go blind, I went with the blind trust route. He was measuring my old irons while I hit top, my lie angle on old clubs were all flat. After few hits he shifted me into 1up and changed shafts and it was like I was playing a new sport. We proceeded through my longer irons and seeing my 4 iron return to a high piercing flight felt great. They had different size grips for each shaft too which I hadn't seen before. All in all it was my best fitting from a leaving confident I had got them right and not the feeling of I'm going to be in the wrong clubs in a few weeks. He also recommended Pro V1x to help raise my spin numbers and I haven't gone back.

I have a hard time with sim fitting too because the ball flight just isn't reinforced the same when you see it flying. The feedback isn't the same.
