Fitness Goals: Helping Each Other Reach Our Goals

That's f***ing sweet!
I'm trying to slowly work my way back up there. I got back up to 4x3 @295 two years ago. In high school my 1R max was 405, I don't think I'll get get back up that high.
Cheers, friend. 405 is the dream but as the age creeps in slowly, it's kind of a poo or get off the pot situation. Sore as all get out today but nothing beats having a life threatening amount of weight on your back, ey?

Lol I love the perspective ! If I sniff 350 again I'll be over the moon. Currently repping 225 5x5. Going to take a long time to work up to 300+ at the rate I stack plates. I'm kinda paranoid of my lower back and don't add any weight until I can rep 3x8 without losing form or with less than full range of motion. Seems to be working out so far, but I came down from 275 a few months ago after a little tweak.

You are wearing a belt right? Even at two wheels? That little tweak I know all too well!

Funny how in my twenties I never stretched, warmed up, or wore protection and never an issue. Iron must have gotten heavier over the years

But good on you for still doing those big compound lifts! My workout partner always says we have a finite number of workouts left... Make em count.

I just bought one about a month ago, and as soon as I put it on I felt like a f****** idiot for being stubborn not getting it sooner. It's been a while since I've had one, and I forgot how much it helps you brace your core. I love it now. Stay swole my friend!

I haven’t done any exercising since being on vacation, other than a couple of short hikes. I also ate plenty. Time to get back to the program and hopefully I’ll get a good workout in tomorrow morning.

Got to play 18 at Torrey Pines North today. It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day. Got the front nine done in just over 2 hours. But hit a lot of slow play on the back 9. Ended up taking 5 hours. But if my Garmin is to be believed, i burned over 1,500 calories.

Today's Workout - Leg Day!!! - https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/14634361124

Yesterday's Calories Consumed: 2,059

Yesterday's Calories Burned: 3,289

I was hangry/hungry last night. Smashed a piece of pizza when I got home from work (while I was cooking dinner), and then grazed on some of the crap the kids had out afterward. I hate all of the crap they have in the house and my lack of will-power to stay away from it. But on the other hand, Zebra Cake Rolls and gummy bears are  pretty freakin' awesome.

I did it! 20 minute bodyweight only strength workout. Pushups, lunges, side planks, knee ups, feet elevated pushups, bodyweight squats, crunches & mountain climbers.

You’re right! It felt good to work up a sweat!

I think this is a great topic, as I'm going through the same with fitness goals and just overall changes to lifestyle and activity levels.

Might I suggest instead of push-ups, do planks. Push-ups are hard to back and neck, and planks are a more complete core movement. Give them a try and see what you think.

I was successful in cutting off the desk top portion of my office built-ins and attaching the top to a standing desk base. It works great now to help me stand more, and has taken a ton of discomfort from my shoulders and neck to have my keyboard back to a more ergonomic position instead of being at counter height and causing me problems.

I also invested in an under-desk treadmill that I have started using for 20-30 minute walks 4 times a day during the work day. I started yesterday and got my 4x in, and already have my initial walk in this morning. Second walk is in 15 mins.

20240103_105521.jpg.95aac8054a98b46c0350988776affc59.jpg

Finally, I purchased a subscription on the Peloton App. I took advantage of their current 60-day free trial and the annual membership of about $10.45/mo for the level I wanted (I don't have Peloton equipment and never plan to buy any, so the mid-level works perfectly). I'll take full advantage of their Stretching and Meditation pre-recorded classes that start tonight (nothing more than 15 mins to start) after I log off from work, along with the occasional Boot Camp/HiiT/Weights workouts (eventually). I have a membership to my local Wellness Center where I'll go 2x a week to lift weights as well.

Sounds like a lot, but it's really not. It's all split up properly to not overburden any one day or make it feel like a chore instead of a lifestyle change.

I have about 60lbs to lose to be in a happier body setup like I had in 2013-2015, and I want 25 of it gone by my birthday in the first week of May.

I purchased the Urevo Walking Pad Treadmill w/ Incline from Amazon. https://a.co/d/aI9CNxc

I wanted the auto-incline feature for when I get to that point. It sync's nicely to it's app on my phone as well as having a wireless remote control. Not too loud, which is good. With 2 wheels up by the front, I can lift the back a little to roll it in and out for use without any issues. It's not cheap, but it's far less than others out there. No assembly, just get it out of the box, set up the app, and away I went.

Been using it now for 3 full months. I pull it out 2-4 times a day for about 30 minutes per use. No issues to speak of thus far. Pretty happy with it. I need to clean it and lub it, mainly due to some wood working we've done in the office. I move it out into the hall when we were working, but I'm sure some dust and stuff got in there. Luckily it has directions on how to do that and included a bottle of lubrication.

Ran the fastest 10k I've run in at least 6 years. Didn't mean to go that hard but I felt pretty good and each mile was fast than the prior. It was a real confidence booster after the half marathon pace was slower than I was hoping for.Screenshot_20240329_205450_Connect.jpg.b5b5f2fe63842791f21172a8a415082d.jpgScreenshot_20240329_232553_Connect.jpg.cad629637a590330d49ed97df34cbae1.jpg

Awesome stuff on the recency PB! Love to see it!

I ended up doing 3 workouts over the weekend that were all bodyweight workouts that got a good sweat going each time and the workouts were all less than 25 minutes. Thanks for the encouragement to get back at it and I'm glad I ended up getting them in!

I'm going to be taking tonight off to help get settled from our vacation, but tomorrow morning I'll be back on the Tonal.

Yesterday's Calories Consumed: 1,809

Today's weight: 194.2

Got to the gym a little late this morning and it was packed. Didn't get a chance to go lat pull downs. Only hit 1 rep on my last set of deadlifts; felt my form slide and decided to quit while I was ahead. Biceps were dead, failed on the second to last set and then skipped the last. Overall, kind of a sh***y day in the gym.

Got back into the Tonal strength training program that I put on pause for the vacation. It went ok, but this was supposed to be the week where I ramp up intensity and it was tough to have intensity after coming back from vacation. That and leg days have never been my favorite. Got the workout done and I'm happy to be moving on to the next one.

But if I'm not hard on myself, who will be? There's no growth inside the comfort zone!

In all seriousness, I appreciate the support. Just an off day and I'm glad I didn't push. Mistakes happen when you're tired or not able to focus, and mistakes made while holding heavy s*** don't normally turn out well.

Been a bit since a check in. @Shrek74 Love the under desk treadmill I have one as well and break it out when I know I can't get anything else for a workout for the day. @FallenSaber great run, and love when you get faster and the run comes out of now where, just a feeling of accomplishment.

On my personal front have been getting runs in and working to keep up the mobility and body weight work. Eating has been the biggest thing. Have gotten much better and kept it up well the past month or so. Down about 10 lbs in about 5 weeks and had my physical yesterday with no issues or follow up needed which is always a win (have had high BP in the past).

Great seeing everyone's work!

That is hilarious! I don’t think I’ve ever had one come at me like that.
