BobBC78
I just learned that Sub70 is releasing a OL version of the 699 V2. Based on a quick check of the specs, the clubs are 7i length, have the same 63* lie as the standard length 9i and the loft gaps get progressively bigger (the 7i is 30* on both the conventional and OL versions). The timing is interesting because literally yesterday, I ordered a standard 699 V2 7i to test. It appears that if I decide to complete the set, I would only have to tweak the lie on my 7i to do the OL thing. https://www.golfsub70.com/sub-70-699-v2-sl-irons.html Edited February 28 by BobBC78 BreakfastBall15, jbern, Bad Golfer and 3 others 2 2 2 Quote Ping G400 Max 10.5* - Kuro Kage HBP Black Gen 2, 44.5" length Ping G425 SFT 5W (19*) - Alta CB Slate SR flex Ping G430 5H (26*), 6H (30*) and 7H (34*)- Alta CB 70 regular flex Ping G710 8i-W - Recoil 80 F3 shaft Cleveland CBX4 50* and 58*, Smart Sole 4C - Recoil 95 F3 shaft Odyssey Tri-hot 5K Seven DB with Garsen Max grip or OG 2-Ball with Super Stroke grip Other: Vice Pro, Maxfli Tour or Snell Prime 3.0; Shot Scope X5; True Linkswear; Callaway Org 7 bag; Clicgear 3.5+ Did a Member Review on Argolf's Pendragon XL Broomstick putter. jbern
Wow! I don't know how Sub70 continues to peak my interest more and more all the time. I went golfing on Monday evening and I was telling my playing partner that I was considering going to one-length clubs (preferably with graphite shafts) to help simplify things even more. Not to mention, there was a MGS article saying that one-length would shave strokes for most golfers. This could be bad news for my wallet! StrokerAce
I have 2 sets of one-length/single-length irons. I don't play them right now but they definitely helped me become a better ball striker and much more consistent. I bought the first iteration of Sterling single length irons and picked up a set of Cobra all black one length a couple years ago. If there is someone who is a beginner or trying to learn the game I think these are 100% helpful. Does it mess up your swing on standard length clubs? not really - I've found the transition between is relatively simple. ball position changes a bit with standard since single length you keep the same ball position on all your clubs. I wouldn't recommend anything over a 5i for SL unless you have a SUPER fast (i.e. Bryson) swing speed. 5-P seems to be the sweet spot. Gemorc
I have been playing the Cobra 1length irons for seven years now and I will never go back to standard length. My advice about adding your test club is be sure about the club head weight. A set of 1length irons all should weigh the same. My club head weights vary +/- 5 grams.
