I guess fashioning a bag cover isn’t a bad idea.  Maybe I will make one out if a large, plastic, construction grade garbage bag that can be easily stored away.

That's a great idea!  Actually the raincoat idea is from my sailing days as I have 2 nautical raincoats that cover down to the legs and one is perfect for the golf bag using the club cover camouflaged ball retriever as the suspension rod to keep the raincoat hood above the clubs for full access to the contents of the golf bag.  The other raincoat is too heavy to wear and golf so that one stays in the vehicle.

But, why should you have to make a bag cover on a $500 bag? This is the exact reason we test products! Great job guys!

So you're saying constructing a portable shed to mount on the push cart to protect such a fine quality golf bag from all elements would be over the top?  (see what I did there?)

I agree completely.  When I posted my initial review those pockets gave me pause.  Now that suspicions were confirmed, I guess we go into protection mode, plus it may keep the towel dry-ish too.

Good evening agents…errr…spies.  Wanted to let you know the cart strap sleeve is in my possession.  I ordered the grey sleeve to match Mav.  The package was one of those white, thicker, plastic bags that takes more effort to open than it should.  Inside was a folded strap encased within a clear cellophane bag.  Double wrapped, nice.  The sleeve had a strip of cardboard inside it to help maintain the shape during shipping.  Well done with the shipping Ghost.IMG_8189.jpeg.cbe769b2b1c47d0965af0e525df6b42f.jpeg

There are two emblems on the sleeve that are a thicker rubber and sewn on, not glued (there may be glue underneath, not sure).

IMG_8190.jpeg.41120633f85cc183f45e199705247ef5.jpeg

Ghost advertises the strap at 20” and they are accurate.  I did have to give the neoprene sleeve a slight tug to extend it an inch but it held its length…I know your smirking!

IMG_8191.jpeg.9f8939c58595e8b78e771387290246b2.jpeg

Lastly, I put the strap on the bag to check the color match and fitment around the bag.  The color is slightly lighter but not bad for two different materials.
IMG_8192.jpeg.dacbd1aecfce9d5bc5c0a402d8419f03.jpeg

Estimating how the cover would sit on the cart strap, I looked where the cover would end on the other side.  This is what I discovered…

IMG_8193.jpeg.ed9ce9531f76688bb043a8635b241cb0.jpeg

The strap ends with about 3/4 inch protruding beyond the magnetic pouch.  Keep in mind this is just a guestimate and real world may be different.  I will know for sure Friday morning when I hit the course for an outing.  My guess is the strap would be more centered on the bag and be just fine.  Until then, hit straight and one-putt.

The strap sleeve is a must.

After receiving my strap sleeve, I cannot understand how it is not a regular thing for all golf bags for anyone who cares for their equipment and I wish I had known before what a great idea it is.  Kudos to Ghost Golf for the initiative on this because until I was aware of this on their website, I did not have any idea they were a thing.

I wish Ghost made a thru strap area at the base of the bag for push carts and personal golf carts. I need to buy another strap for the bottom strap but would love it not to restrict the pockets.

I cannot imagine what that would be like for your bag - perhaps a photo of a bottom strap arrangement that would be in need of such an accommodation?

My Clicgear 3.5+ and others I have seen have a strap that fits nicely around the bottom 2 inches of the bag at the base.

Ghost bag is in the truck for rolling to the course meeting this morning but here is an example of where the strap hits. Depending on personal golf cart setup, the ones that hang off the back have 2 straps.

That is something new to my golf experience, and you are right, I have never seen a provision for that kind of attachment on a golf bag.

I think I would be inclined to run a strap from just above the forward cross member of the golf bag rack in your photo and around the bottom of the bag that way.  Your bag like many I have seen doesn't have a loop or projection on the base to make a strap at the bottom captive.  For an earlier cart bag that preceded the C130 bag in my litany of ownership, I used a small bungee cord to ensure the lower strap did not slip down to allow the bag freedom to go wherever mayhem would have it do.

The alternative is to remount the strap attachment cross member lower for the proper location on the golf bag.

Hole 3…Is there anything better than fall golf?

IMG_8226.jpeg.21ad93c3f5c2313f0670deff56f3d2cb.jpeg

I ran the last hole with the bag.  Velocity with quick stops had no effect, Unlike Mav landing an F-14 on a carrier!

No problems with grips entangling yet.  However, they are getting snagged on the club covers.  Who’s idea were those dang covers?

Hole 4…208 par 3 with a club and a half wind helping.  So I was thinking about the club/grip issue.  I have my clubs set up opposite of @EasyPutter so maybe that is why I haven’t experienced the snagging yet.

The towel is long but has plenty of ground clearance.  All accessories hanging off the bag won’t be an issue with the bag on a push cart.  No clanking or banging.  Just a quiet walk with a quiet bag unless your like me and have some music playing…

Ok folks.  I have nothing else to add to the first push-cart excursion. I am pleasantly surprised at how good the bag fits on this TourTrek four-wheel push cart.  I tried to dislodge the bag but Mav waved me off like I was a bothersome gnat…Gunna work on the short game some and finish out these last three holes.  Until next time, hit ‘em straight and one-putt all day long!

Could you just move the strap down to wrap at an angle under those front pockets and around that base area at the bottom? You've probably already tried it, but it was the first thing that came to mind.

I was thinking one of those 1" flat bungee straps or a long piece of 1" overlapping velcro at the bottom might be a solution too?

It's a very weird set up for sure.  I almost want to weld a tray or bin at the bottom for the bag to sit in instead of the strap all together.  I had taken zipties and strapped a cooler basket to the base and it worked but the zipties end up breaking at some point.  I will have to explore some options.

Ahhhh, I see what you are talking about.  The sleeve would work well there but may not be long enough to cover the entire circumference  of the bag. $50 for two is too much cash-o-la.

Follow up on the wet day yesterday for the recovery of the wet golf bag and a second day testing in wet weather conditions.

PXL_20241009_184821692.jpg.95f06d06ee442e9ca4bdaea45086dda2.jpg
The GT-14 Oreo looking less glamorous with the paper towels hanging out of the middle pockets still trying to dry them out.  The raincoat golf bag cover mentioned later is the blue sack hanging under the push cart handle.

The design of the side pockets is robust and should provide to long lasting duty for the individual pockets construction where the side of one pocket is not the same fabric as the pocket next to it.  How did I discover this you ask?  You may.  And this is why:

The 3 side pockets combination comprised of the large cargo pocket with insulation grey/silver fabric in the lower half, the smaller outermost pocket, and the velour lined middle pocket between them, were opened last night in the garage to get the water inside the velour pocket to dry.  I put a sheet of paper towel in each middle pocket to wick out the moisture and thought it would be dry by morning.

It was not.  The velour was still wet, the paper towels were wet inside the pockets and dry outside in the air.  Then I discovered the wetness of the middle pocket had permeated both sides of the outer and inner pockets rendering the contents still in those pockets damp, as in sweaty and wet cardboard damp.

PXL_20241009_193628506.jpg.9ffdf9f9143073ec960a559f748b429b.jpg
The bag still looks good even with the zippers open on the side pockets and everything stayed secure inside despite the sometimes rough terrain and steep up, down and side slopes.  This photo was taken about a minute before the first rain/downpour arrived next to the 6th tee box.

All the side pockets were left open throughout today's round with Jim @The1C3man and again the weather was alternating bands of sun and clouds, that in the second half of the 9 holes round turned showery and at one point turned into a downpour with wind blowing the rain sideways that required all wet weather gear on hand* to be deployed and used.  Debut the raincoat golf bag cover.

PXL_20241009_194956816.jpg.84e923f9c8c0b6d4817f2d002144e427.jpg
The blue nautical raincoat golf bag rain cover drying in sunshine at the 7th tee box after the first of 2 rain events before we finished the 9 hole round.  Someone was responsible for us getting rain having forgotten his umbrella... cough Jim cough cough.

So there it is above, you can see the inexpensive and practical use of a raincoat, this one nautical, and with sleeves drawn around the bag and tucked between the push cart handles.  That way it stays in place doing its job without the wind lifting it up for rain to get at what's underneath.  The exposed lower ball pocket stayed dry as before but the side pockets needed to be zipped up a few inches to keep the rain out where they are lower than the raincoat could cover.  Full disclosure, the ball retriever was extended a few inches higher than usual which was responsible for the short pants appearance, *and the DrizzleStik umbrella was not employed as part of today's test.

Hurricane Milton had no effect on the weather for the test and our thoughts and prayers are with those in Florida who are dealing with that tropical weather system. ☔

The GT-14 Oreo Cart Bag is in the garage again drying the middle side pockets and the other pockets had no additional wetness thanks to the effectiveness of the raincoat golf bag rain cover.

I’ll snap a photo of what myself and my father in law did for our 4 seater cart when I get home from work today. Long story short, welded a couple aluminum arms onto the frame under the footrest area of the back two seats and bolted a platform to it, welded a bar to that on the bottom and added straps, and the bottom strap goes across the boot of the bag.
