  1. i think what’s important to think about when you’re designing a site is that you’re really designing it for the golfer who’s never been to the course before.  your usual clients know where everything is, where to check in, where to find the range and the practice areas, etc.

give a clear layout, let people know everything you offer and where they can find it. list fees and rates for all services available. that way people aren’t flying blind when they show up

and even though you can’t yet - (user friendly) online booking is the single best thing you can offer

  2. hey @cksurfdude this is a great thread and it looks like you’re getting the most out of your lesson package at GT. swing is coming along nicely man!

if i may offer my 2 cents, and i’m only doing so because you mentioned Pete’s in your original post, when your package runs out you should check out Kirk Oguri the pga pro at Pete’s. i had my first lesson with him on Sunday and he was fantastic.

i don’t mean in any way to hijack your thread, just wanted to pass along another great option. you can message me if that works better for keeping your thread on track

I-90 and I-82 were closed part of the day.  Major pileup at Ritzville.

i lived over in Bellevue. you’re out there in  the country!  i’ve got a few friends in Wenatchee now though.

We have 24 fires in the area, and a big one up in north central WA.  The wind is coming out of the north about steady 25 mph.  We had a few gusts that were close to 50 mph.

Some idiots will do anything to play a round of golf.  🤣

that’s insane! i lived in washington for a few years and remember the smoke rolling in from wildfires back in 16 or 17...it was gnarly. hope you’re staying safe

  5. two back to back “shots of the day” made for my hole of the day on number 9

short par 4, 396. striped a driver 341 down the right side of the fairway. that left me with a 55 yard chip to a slightly elevated green. made good contact on a little lob with a 60*, landed a few feet short and got some roll.

then i heard the words we all love to hear...”you don’t need your putter!” ball cozied up about 6” from the hole for a tap in birdie

  6. i don’t currently have any woods in my bag. i’m in the process of getting fit, and need extremely stiff and heavy shafts (phrasing) to handle my swing speed.

got paired with a guy today who had these in his woods and he let me hit them. the results were two phenomenal tee shots.

what do y’all know about these two?

  7. got out for a quick practice round today. played 2 balls for 11 holes before it was time to get home. i’ve got a newborn son and my wife deserves to be canonized for letting me get out to play.

i hit the ball really well.  wasn’t keeping score, just focused on good contact with my irons and chipping well around the green.

guy i got paired with was bugging me to try his driver all day. finally gave in on 9:

396 yard par 4. drove it 341. chipped to within 6” for a nice tap in birdie. really solid way to close out the front 9

You'll love them, I bought a grey and a black one at COSTCO, after one use, I went back and bought another two, wish they had more colors.

Their thermal underwear is also very nice, used it under jeans with the weather in the high 20's- low 30's (that's extreme for me, I live in So Ca!)

awesome, good to know. shirts should be in within the next few days. i guess i’ll update this thread when i get them

Makes more sense without any fairway woods.

Someday you may figure out the long club and need the slot.

I love my 5w and don't carry a 3w because the gaps between the two wasn't big enough. I found the 5w easier to hit too.

A 2 driving iron also is a good 3w replacement for some people.

i’ve been looking at driving irons to fill that slot, but for now i manage well without it.

im sure the bag makeup will change 100 more times

I don't think 5 is overkill. It has nothing to do with 5 "wedges" it is ALL about gaping. If you can cover your gaps then it doesn't matter if it says wedge or not on it. I think it is going to become a lot more common going forward as PW keep getting stronger.

that’s the issue. my PW carries 160 so i’ve got some serious gaps to cover at the bottom of the bag.

These comments about hitting like a girl and implicating they don't hit very far is a pet peeve of mine.

I want to encourage more women to play the game and, stuff like this does not help.

If women overhear comments like this then it is very discouraging.

I'm all for throwing shade but, not at the point of discouraging an entire gender.

"Muscles shrinking since we all can't go to the gym anymore?"

"Is that putter too heavy for you?"

"That ball must have lead weights in it?"

"Did you calculate that in Meters instead of Yards again?"

i don’t really think it’s all that serious, not every chirp has overarching societal implications

  12. i’ve definitely considered 5 being overkill and i’ve thought of the overlapping yardages but maybe i can explain why i’m thinking about going with a 5th wedge

at the top of my bag, i’ve got a driver and a 3h. i don’t carry a 3w, it’s a club i just can’t hit and have found a way to not really need.

then i’m gonna carry 4-P, with the 44* PW being a 155-160yd club.

that leaves a lot of meat on the bottom end of the bag, and it also leaves me with 6 slots. so i figured i’d carry the 5 wedges and see what does and doesn’t work, and adjust from there.

  13. hey everyone. new guy here from queens, NY
