  1. There already are restricted flight balls. On your range! Feel free to use them. However, I want an exemption.
  2. It doesn't work for me (but it might) as we haven't starting using it or agreed to a service agreement yet. Can you expand on your claim? I'm interested. How has membership been devalued and what numbers have declined? Keep in mind we are not a golf club, country club, Muni, etc. We're only a practice/range facility with a 6-hole practice course. Thanks
  3. We're actually looking into using Golf Now at our new range and practice course opening next spring. Like many things and in this case GN some may like it and others may not. The first reason we're considering it because of the cost. Which as I understand today is... no cost to us. There are many golf course tee sheet & POS systems out there and all of them come with a price tag. Our situation is somewhat unique in that we're a non-profit (First Tee chapter) and our facility will consist of a full range (long and short game range, putting green, chipping green with sand bunkers) along with a 6-hole practice course. GN will save us money and the tee sheet can be customized to 6-holes only. There will be a free/no cost POS system, custom website, marketing, and the app for bookings etc. Again... no cost. In return we give up a few tee times each day where GN will make a profit. Works for me so far. I don't know the nitty gritty details of what a user who books a tee time online/app at our course would experience or the terms of a refund if any. I'd assume that we'd have control over that unless the tee times are special GN Hot Deals that we've given up to them. But I'd assume a user who registers/books a tee time is presented with terms of some sort regarding a cancellation. I also will assume it's in GN favor to allow or not a refund or cancellation if the tee time is exclusively theirs. Should we decide to us GN I'm sure there will be some who will experience a situation as described by the gentleman starting this post. Nothing is perfect for everyone. Of course people will also be able to call and book directly with us. At this time there appear to be more upside to us by using GN than downside. Many "specials" come with restrictive terms as the purpose might be to sell something not moving, reduce inventory or generate traffic, etc. It's not unusual to see restrictions disallowing a refund or exchange in situations like this. All Sales Are Final - No Refunds. That's a type of risk consumers will take each day for a variety of items. I'm currently high on using the GN system at our course. We'll see.
  4. Perhaps if you paired the illegal ...ehem - non-conforming driver with an illegal .. nonconforming ball like a Condor, Bandit, Polara you'd get those extra yards. Maybe more!! If that doesn't work send it in and have the face shaved and put some vaseline on it. Finally... if after all that and you're still not driving greens; just move up a tee or three.
  5. I actually have one somewhere. I don't use it but I've tried it. I think I might have posted about it some years ago when I was overly obsessed with golf. I guess it seemed to work as intended. I say that because it would realign to my initial mark I put on a ball when I placed it back in the device and spun it up. Does it do anything for your game? I really couldn't say but it's an interesting gadget.
  6. Looks like my boastful comment above was a little premature. There are 3 holes to best of recollection that I haven't birdied yet this year. #5 par 4, #10 par 4, #16 par 3. The number 5 and 10 aren't that difficult actually but I suppose they are for me. Ha! The good news is I still have about 6 months left.
  7. This thread is interesting and all... Certainly at 65 I'm not going to attempt riding anything like this. Anywhere! (not a put down) But, if I were 10-14 years old I'd be all over this thing. As far as I can tell these types of things just aren't working out for golf courses. Yet. I've seen a few courses try "new" types of unconventional golf scooters, boards, etc. but they were all short term novelties IMO and then they were gone or left unused. I suppose it's hard to beat walking, caddies, push/pull carts, and standard club car - ez go type golf carts. Best of luck with your OneWheel.
  8. Yes in more ways than one. New ownership several years ago and one with very deep pockets turned the whole thing around. The gentleman out of Dallas that bought the resort put in millions to make it what it is today. And improvements are still constantly happening. All good. You're correct about the water. I'm guessing the retention ponds allow for cooling before it's pumped on the course. They also have a treating system of some type where the sulphur is knocked-out of the water. It's just a very unique place in all ways. It's certainly off the beaten path but there is also Lajitas International where I'd told a jet up to 737 can land. I know there are charters out of Dallas that bring groups there. Anyway... even though there are other attractions and things to do; it's really all about the golf. And rightly so. I'd post a few photos but they don't do justice.
  9. Seeing this reminded me of this past weekend. I played a tournament at the fabulous Lajitas Golf Resort. Incredible course with paspalum tee to green. Yes... even the greens!! I guess this grass isn't just coastal. https://www.lajitasgolfresort.com/default.aspx?pg=golf
  10. ... I don't know what my swing prefers Rev. Probably some rest. LOL
  11. I can't imagine anyone saying such a thing. Wait a minute... I've said that. But I don't expect my distance to be 500 yards. I'd settle for 251 or 252!! LOL I'm not in the market for a new driver as I just bagged the EXS about 2 yrs ago and it's a good one. I've always liked and wanted to play a Cobra driver for some reason but haven't yet been able to find one that suits me. My last attempt was the Fly-Z+ but I just couldn't get it right and later gave it to my SIL along with 3 different shafts. He's a scratch player and he loves the Fly-Z. Now chisag is trying to ruin my love for the EXS by posting his review of the King SX. What's a guy to do?
  12. I've played many of the courses listed above and they are good ones for sure. We also have several here and around the local area that are quite good as well. I live in W. Texas and two of the best courses that anyone can play listed below. If any of you guys ever leave the big city areas you'll thank yourself for trying these two. Diamondback in Abilene http://www.diamondbackgolfclub.biz/ - Charles Coody design - always in top condition with impeccable greens - what else would you expect from a former Master champion? Rawls Course in Lubbock https://therawlscourse.com/ - Tom Doak design - very challenging design with great greens and many rugged/wild bunkers. (if you've ever played Pacific Dunes you'll see Doak's architecture style in this course.)
  13. The best i've heard in a long while. Thanks Stu!
  14. Here's what you want. I like the Blanco and Reposado. Both over the rocks. I'm pimping for a board member who distills -bottles-and imports it. Not exactly cheap but you'll thank me. BTW - this isn't anywhere close to that old rotgut Jose Cuervo or Patron. And it's hangover proof! Sip away and enjoy. https://flechaazultequila.com/
  15. Please don't take offense... But if your hcp is truly a 20 as you've listed above then you're a real head scratcher. It's interesting to hear a high handicapper describe their ball striking in such a way. And especially with an old set of blades (probably not fit) which by most estimates require a player of advanced skill (low single digit or + hcp) to play effectively - if even then. I wonder what you'd be able to do with a properly fit set of modern irons like most tour pros play? (which btw are not blades)
  16. This is probably an apple to orange comparison.... I bought last years model EXS that came with a MCA Tensei CK 60-S. I didn't go through a fitting per se' as I usually perform - work it out myself. I did hit the club at the shop a little before buying and decided to give it a try anyway. Initially the indoor LM data was ok but not great. Then, outdoors I went. My observations all around were awful. I hated everything about the feel, shot patterns, and flight. I tinkered around with the settings but the EXS was looking like a non-starter. The next day I decided to try the shaft that I'd been playing successfully in my SLDR. I happen to have a spare so I installed the EXS adapter onto the Fujikura Speeder 57-S and it was an amazing change. All of a sudden the EXS came alive. I didn't bother spine'ng the shaft. I did make a few more adjustments with the settings. The EXS is now a fairway machine and I'm sure I'll play it for many years. Moral of the story is - don't rely on LM data for anything more than perhaps a starting point - go no go. If that. I think finding the proper shaft and ideal adjustment of the head for your swing and preferred ball flight is critical. And do all this outdoors. With a little time and patience you can fit yourself easily.
  17. I find many times; searches return better results on google than in the forum. It's always worth a try.
  18. From what I can see in your photos I like them. Your build looks great too. I'm not the least off-put by your irons or Maltby. I play Wishon and most people don't have a clue about Wishon clubs let along who Tom Wishon is. So, it your or my clubs aren't on tour or in golf magazines they're invisible to most. Further, most golfers (probably aside from MGS forum members) think they are El Cheapo or clone clubs and such. I'm curious what your cost per club was? IYDM. Just components.
  19. I took a look at the website*. I've only encountered one person several years ago that had one of the DF putters. The guy that had it wasn't a good putter but I'm sure he thought buying would be magic for him. It wasn't. I've never owned or tried one and probably won't. Like most boutique putters these are expensive too. I also own an expensive Edel putter. I purchased my custom putter for no other reason than I just wanted one. My putter is nice looking but I wasn't looking to improve my putting. I was a good putter before I bought it and I'm still a good putter. It made no difference other than being a good looking putter. *tell your friend that owns the company to change his photos of the DF putters. All of the photos except two are of a black putter against a black background. That doesn't help if someone is wanting to see details.
  20. I won't be entering the fray but I know some of you guys will have fun with this... I'll birdie each hole at my home course this year - no doubt. I've already knocked out a bunch of them and a couple of them more than once. I'm not a birdie machine by any means but over the course of 12 months I'll birdie them all multiple times. So, that's my story.
  21. I recently purchased a dozen each of the Tour and Tour-X. I started at the top of this subject and started reading about the balls. To save time I honed in on Rev's comments as we're similar age and playing ability. After getting through about 6 pages where I read Rev's comments I skipped the rest as I am probably already convinced that the Tour will be a better choice for me also. This weekend I'll be playing at least 2 rounds so I may play the Tour one round and the X another and just see. Anyway... they sound like good balls.
  22. I don't know why the golf industry still hangs out in California. Or any business for that matter. Sadly Ca. is going down the crapper but quick. Virginia seems to be headed that direction as well. Pretty scenery but that's about it.
