Ball Marker / Divot Tool Display

Here is the newly made display! I played around with the strength of the magnets and found that the ball markers will still hold through a thin lens cleaning cloth. I may make a trip to a local hobby shop and see if I can find a thin material to line the magnets to hide the seams, but then again, you don't really notice them once the markers are on... And speaking of seams, notice that there are only 4 magnets on this one! Finally found a thick magnetic sheet (60mil instead of the 20mil found everywhere). They come in 8x10 sheets with an adhesive backing (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B2SE5KA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It was much easier this time around finding thick enough sheet magnets, so if you are going to make one, that's the way to go.

EDIT: It doesn't look THAT much bigger in the first picture, but once I transferred all the markers.. WOW! I will have plenty of room for quite a while!

Thanks for the lead on the 60 mil sheets. Can't wait to redo mine

Are those sheets magnetic enough that I could stretch fabric over them and still have enough hold?

It would have to be a very thin fabric. The markers hold fine through a lens cleaning cloth. I wouldn't go any thicker than that though.

Hmm thanks, I think I might go with somehow arranging/gluing some small rare earth magnets for the one I plan to make as I'd like the background to be nice felt-like material.

Be sure to let us know how it works out! The manufactured ones that I found are more this style, where you have a felt backing with a single magnet per marker. I just chose not to go this route because of how many markers I collect. Didn't want to have to buy a magnet for every marker.

I was thinking the same thing. I've been thinking about a project like this, and then I tripped across this thread. I imagined a green felt covering the strips of magnets. I Imagine this might do the trick, as long as it lets go when you need it to
