Why do you love golf?

1. How could I forget the beer part? Golf and beer, the best combo.

2. I'm the same as you, I love new equipment! It's not like I need it, I just want it. I've always been that way when it comes to PC hardware/components or power tools or any other sort of electronics.

Totally! It's like this;

"Yes Dear, You're right...I do have all of the golf (insert: clubs, balls, shoes, hats, putters, etc...) I need...I just don't have all of the golf (insert: clubs, balls, shoes, hats, putters, etc...) I want!"

10. It's a game for all ages

9. You meet lots of neat people

8. It's outdoors

7. It's an excuse to drink beer

6. Buying new equipment is fun

5. Getting free new equipment to test is funner!

4. It's challenging

3. It's why I've met all of you

2. It's something to look forward to.

And the number one reason is.....

1. Mark Twain was wrong, it's not a good walk spoiled, it's a good walk turned into an adventure with life long memories waiting around every corner.

Ping G410 - turned down to11.25 degrees, neutral setting - Fujikura Motore X R flex

Ping G410 5-9 wood

Wilson D7 forged 6-GW -  Mamiya recoil 460 R flex

SCOR 52,60

EVNRoll ER 5

Titleist Pro VIx optic yellow with revkev stamped on them

Currently testing Edison wedges to replace SCORS that are wearing out. Also auditions for the 14th spot in the bag.  Current possibilities are a Ping 26 degree hybrid - duplicates the 9 wood or 5 iron but would be used almost exclusively for chipping or Tour Exotics 3 wood simply because you can carry 14 clubs and I might occasionally hit it in certain unusual wind conditions once every four or five rounds.

There is no one thing that I can point to that makes me enjoy the game.  I've met some great guys and gals, played some beautiful courses, gotten out on beautiful days and hit some memorable shots.  I like that it's all up to you on how well you play or not play.  I just enjoy the game all around.

Because it's better than working I love it because it's a big time stress reliever for me, nothing beats hitting something really hard...walking the course and meeting new people with the same passion for the game.

To be completely honest I kinda disliked golf till I started it, not hated but I didn't want anything to do with it. I got started in it after we began homeschooling me in junior high to have something to do and began to take an interest.

A lot like everyone else there's a long list of things I like about it and a few I dislike but if I had to name a few I'd say there are people I really enjoy playing with, the accomplishment you feel when you pull off a shot, and very high on my list is the competition, I might be slightly addicted to competition... just a bit... and obviously getting to interact with everyone here on the site!

Same here. I won't even lie, years and years ago I hated it. I thought it was the most boring sport there was, before I ever gave it a chance. Little did I know I'd become addicted.

I love the challenge! Everytime you tee it up you could have your career best (or worst) but beating and lowering your handicap and striking the ball like a pro (sometimes) is such a great feeling.

Fresh air, beautiful surroundings and exercise along with decent company is just fantastic.

Playing early morning or a few holes in summer just before sunset is magical, no other word for it.

I love good for most of the reasons above. It bring you together with your friends and it also gives me the competition I enjoy. Most importantly though some of my best childhood memories are early Saturday mornings playing with my dad and his friends. I hope one day that my son & daughter have those same memories.

Today was an example. I went out and played an impromptu 9 holes. Really struggled to hit anything consistently all dsy.

Until the last hole and my last full shot into the green. Had a tucked pin just on top of the back tier. No way to pitch and run it. Had to fly it all the way back.

So it was also the first chsnce to hit my brand new Jet Black SM7 lob wedge from about 60 yards.

Made pure contact and stuck it two feet from the pin. But alas the Tour sauce was too much and brought it back down the slope.

Even though i ended up 70 feet away. The feeling of hitting a golf shot like fhey are meant to be hit.

Thats one reason I love this game.

I enjoy playing by myself, with friends and family and now with my kids.  The courses I enjoy the most give me a sense of solitude or allow my group to feel we are the only people around.  Golf is one of the things I like to do in my limited spare time to just relax.  Walking the course, looking at nature, chatting and joking with friends and family.  What more can you want.

I just love being on any golf course. The smell of freshly cut grass- birds chirping- and occasional profanity heard are why I love this great game.I'm positive I would've quit decades ago if I only focused on I have to shoot a low score only mentality.

I don't know if I actually love this game? I'd say it's more like an addiction that I've been addicted to for like 25 years! It's a love hate relationship!

I've never contemplated why I love golf or even if I love golf. Golf has been part of my life since my earliest memories, so to me, it's just always been a part of me, it's just something I'm attracted to because it is in me.

My Grandfather, Father, and uncle all played. The farm my Grandparents bought after Grandpa returned from WW2 became our home “course”. The barn was the “clubhouse” where all the old clubs lived and my first set was whatever clubs I could scrounge up in that barn. Sam Snead Blue Ridge, Spalding, Toney Penna, and many other 20-30 year old (this was the early 80's) inexpensive clubs with dry, cracked grips and a 5 gallon bucket of “experienced” balatas.

I hit those balls out into the field, went and gathered them up, then did it again. Finally, after just going to the course with Grandpa, Uncle and Dad as a spectator, I was allowed to play.

I then began playing with friends and realized it is enjoyable plying with different people, different skill levels, and different ages. Playing with someone, not against them, where the course is the opponent, thats what I really enjoy.

Now, my daughter is learning the game. I can enjoy seeing her experience it for the first time. I can't think of really anything else than golf that can allow generations to compete together for a lifetime.

That's why I love golf.

I picked it back up 5 years ago because I couldn't hit a softball anymore.

I kept playing because of that feeling you get when you're home in 2 putting for birdie. It's a great feeling to walk 18 and just have the sun on your shoulders and the only care in the world is if you can nail your next shot
