This is interesting to me.  I planned to hard step the RT 1x bc I normally play a stiff flex, and understand the shaft is really R+, so I thought 1x would put me at S- or so.  But if the hosel gives me another hard step (which would be 2x) on an R+ shaft, I would likely be back at my normal S.  Which is fine.  Now I have a decision to make, but I don't feel like it's a huge deal bc I may not be able to feel that subtle of a difference between S or S-.

Totally agree. I think Steelfibers across the board play very firm. I hit 110CW in Stiff that felt (to me) firmer than Axiom 130X. I have heard that the FCs are a little softer but I have never had a chance to hit them.

I am probably going to put those "dampeners" in my wedge shafts and go a little softer in my grips (CP2) in hopes of avoiding going to graphite in my wedges as well. I think the fact that I got budget FST 125 steel shafts in my irons and very firm grips has not helped me lately in the comfort department. I hit some Nippon Modus 130 shafts and they felt much better than my FST shafts. Oh well. Live and you learn.

I'll be curious to hear how those dampers work, if they do. I have some new SM9's with the base steel shafts, and I'd prefer not to reshaft them in graphite if possible. This is my other option, as you are doing.

FWIW, I put the dampeners in both my Nippon steel wedge shafts and my Aerotech SteelFibers. I could easily tell a difference in the wedges and could even tell there was less feedback through the SteelFibers despite being graphite.

I've fought various levels of tendon pain in my shoulders, wrists and elbow over the past couple of years so I like any help I can get.

The RT R+ is definitely closer to most S flex IMO. The S 105 S felt stiffer than my Recoil 110 F4.

Thanks to all here for the suggestions and input.

I built the TS1 demo this morning.  Hope to hit it tomorrow!  It needed some extra head weight but I like the looks of it thus far.  And wow the Star grips were easy to work with.

Build a new 2 IST Hybrid with a 105 Project X 105 LZ steel shaft in 6.0. Thing is a sniper rifle. The feel of the face is unmatched and distance is outstanding!  Couldn’t be happier with the new stuff coming out.

Hey friends!

I need a long distance 2H.  Can anyone here compare the Maltby to the Callaway Supers?  I have Paradym X now and would like to not change adapters, but the Maltby price is tempting.  I hit hybrids well generally and relatively speaking.  Is Maltby a good choice for distance?

Loving this experiment so much I am leaning toward swapping my 7-P to TS1 and shafting all my irons with the Xcalibers.   Distance and accuracy are excellent.  I like my TS4 scoring irons, but the TS1 just fits me better.

I am such a graphite shaft novice.  My FOMO makes me worry there is something even better.

Well--  I have that disease.   I have no reason to build the TS-4.   I really believe the TS-3 in the end is the club for me.   I just have this itch to try the Rapport Core Blue graphite as I believe it is a sleeper.    I have considered pulling a TS-1IM and building up a TS-4  test club.   I probably won't-- I will buy the 6-GW--  I just played the new TC Pro IST   #4 hybrid yesterday as my future #5 iron replacement..  Very promising.    Reminds me of a club I built over 20 years ago.   INFINITI ROLL FORGED--

What I find odd.. but it's golf so really there isn't any right or wrong.. is that he didn't love the feel of the TS4's. I'm guessing that maybe his swing just doesn't jive with the 4's? They demand redline speed in order to even get them interested in hitting a ball.. but when you give them what they want, man do they feel great!

Either way, I've probably watched this new video 40 times. Yeah.. I'm a freak like that.

That's gotta be it, like you said it's pretty subjective. It's just crazy because he usually likes the more players irons style like the TS4.

Distance for me was not a problem at all. If anything it went slightly further than my TC Tour 2 hybrid with an 85g graphite x flex. The main thing for me was the feel and consistency. The feel off the face is soooooo pure. And consistency across the face is a testament to the club. Maybe lost 5 max 10 years on toe strikes. But the steel shaft just kept the dispersion down immensely. I hit it about 270 which is where I want to be with my gaping and I could probably put 3 balls within a 10 yard circle. Never had a club so good to me.

I was hoping Gabe was going to get his hands on the TS3's. I really don't need new irons, but I'm drawn to these. I need to have a 7 iron built up to demo.

Distance-- very good.  I hit it four times on the range and three times during my round.  I picked up the #4 to possibly replace my #5 iron.   I believe it is my  solid 190-200 yd club.  I play to a 6 handicap @ 63 years old.  Distance is fading.   This club will be excellent from rough.   I would be curious to see the #17 degree in action.  Could be a nice fwy replacement..   I built it with the MPF hybrid shaft in R-flex at 39.5".    

I need to swing weight it.  I gripped it 30 minutes before playing!!

I'm curious about the shaft choice. Just wanting to match your irons? Usually hybrids are graphite shafts, but curious as to why you went this way. Thanks.

I'm looking at the same hybrid in either a 20* or 23*.

I'm looking at the same hybrid in either a 20* or 23*.

I have a fairly fast swing speed and strong transition so I always need something a little stronger. I acquired a 100g flex hybrid shaft that I put into the 3 FDI. Love the setup with the heavier shaft but couldn’t get another one. So I thought why not just use steel. And GW has those shafts on sale for $20. It’s a great shaft and a steal for the price. I like the stability of it now that I have been playing with it over graphite.  I have significantly less toe hits.

@Shrek74 thanks for the info earlier about the vibration dampeners. I am not rushing to change anything yet b/c eventually I do plan on replacing my Maltby MMBs (circa 2007) with a newer set. When I do I will probably go get fitted at their HQ (I live in OH about 2 hrs away) in which case I will test out different shafts to see how those feel. The Titleist fitter put me in a TT AMT Red R300 a few weeks back.

I wonder what Maltby iron would be closest to the Titleist 350s? Or the T200? I am thinking the TS1-IM model.

Cool. I did see them on sale and may have to pick up a couple (dozen) if I do decide to build the TS3's with some dampeners in the shafts. I've used the full weight LZ 6.0's before and did enjoy them. I play DG120's, and the LZ's were very similar in weight and feel.

I have the same shaft in my 4 & 5 irons. I have a blended set with TS1 IM in the long irons and TS4 in the 7-PW. The shafts have a good feel with mid ball flight. I like a little lighter shaft in the longer irons. And I normally play X flex but the 6.0 is more of a S+ as most Project X play slightly stronger.

I'd love to make a trip up there. I'm originally from Lebanon, OH and am very familiar with Newark as my step-mother is from the area. So a combo trip one of these days may be in order.

My guess is the TS1-IM is a direct comparison to the T200. Not exactly sure what would compare to the T350. Maybe the TS3, even though it's a different construction. The MPF is somewhat close.
