Chip Strokes
i searched but couldn’t find anything on this topic... does anyone remove the shaft stickers from their irons/wedges? everyone loves minimalist club heads and no distracting branding, so i’m curious why most people leave a big sticker on their iron shafts. I would say people generally focus more on the head than that far up the shaft. I don’t notice mine but many shaft manufacturers have the logos pointed down so you don’t see them. Removing could be difficult since some are actually paint like Nippon shafts. Here is an article from MGS about how ping moved their putter labels. https://mygolfspy.com/rd-tools-eye-tracking/ MGoBlue100 and GaDawg 2 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/:Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe Backup Putters: Milled Collection RSX 2, mFGP2, Futura 5W, TM-180 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017 Link to comment
MGoBlue100
I don’t mind semi-gaudy iron heads (unless I have to see it at address) and I sort of like to advert my KBS shafts. (I’m a BIG fan) So... no I wouldn’t spend my time & effort stripping the labels off. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Chip Strokes 1 Quote "Where'd it go?" "Right in the Lumberyard..." Buffly
Over time, taking the club in and out of a bag, rubbing against each other, years later they come off naturally. This usually reduces the trade in value if the shafts can no longer be identified. I wouldn't bother. I wouldn't bother. i care very little about trade in or resale value, especially since there aren’t a ton of people who have the speed to game DG X7 shafts in their irons. more a question of curiosity Quote SIM2 8º | KuroKage XD 70TX SIM 3W 14º | Fujikura Atmos Black Tour Spec 9TX SIM2 5W 18º | Fujikura Ventus Black 10X U500 2i | Fujikura Ventus HB Black 10TX T100 4-PW | Dynamic Gold X7 SM6 52* SM8 56* SM8 60* | Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 DW | BGT Stability Tour Link to comment
StrawberryShortCake
I personally don't care about resale or the stickers. I like clean very clean so I usually remove the decals when they start fallling off. I play a couple times a week and the in and out of the bag usually wears them off pretty quickly. Chip Strokes
@StrawberryShortCake i also prefer things clean and unbranded. i shaved all the badges off the back of my car, removed all the decals from my motorcycle frame, etc. gonna strip the wedge shafts and see how they look. wd-40 makes quick work of any leftover adhesive silver & black 1 Quote SIM2 8º | KuroKage XD 70TX SIM 3W 14º | Fujikura Atmos Black Tour Spec 9TX SIM2 5W 18º | Fujikura Ventus Black 10X U500 2i | Fujikura Ventus HB Black 10TX T100 4-PW | Dynamic Gold X7 SM6 52* SM8 56* SM8 60* | Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 DW | BGT Stability Tour Link to comment
Nateyeight
I was actually looking into this the other day. I have blacked out wedges and was looking at putting a wrap on the shaft to black it all out. I found only a few companies that do it. I have noticed that people don't like stock shaft stickers missing as it can lose value. To be honest my wedges will be used until they die. Some of these wrap companies have images and various colors too. Appreciate the tips. I didn't even think about the added weight. Thanks for the heads up! Any guidance is much appreciated it turned out fine. i took all of the stickers off of my wedge shafts. any residue came off no problem with some wd-40 on a rag. then just wipe clean with a dry towel. i haven’t done my irons yet. the decals seem to be less of a sticker and almost printed on. tough to explain but here’s a pic. they’re very tight to the shaft and none of the edges seem to be lifting after being taken in and out of the bag a bunch. since they’re facing down at address, i haven’t bothered trying to take them off. CRW
The DG/PX shaft bands are stickers. My last set had PX labels that were worn/torn from use and I removed them with a heat gun. I used goo-gone for the left over residue and you couldn’t tell they were ever there. aerospace_ray 1 Quote Ogio Woode 8 Hybrid Stand Bag PXG 0811 X Gen4 @ 6* - Fujikura Motore X F3 7X PXG 0211 @ 13.5* - Fujikura Motore X F1 8X PXG 0311 XP Gen3 3i-PW - PX LZ 6.5 PXG 0311 Forged 54/60 - PX LZ 6.5 Scotty Cameron Special Select Newport 2 Link to comment
