ballplayer002003
So I am looking at purchasing another putter, this one is used, but it has the persons initials stamped into the back of the head. The question I have is, can this be filled in or fixed so it looks cleaner? Is this something that I could send away for or can I do it? I just don't know enough about this. Thoughts? hckymeyer
Yes, but it's not easy. Also depends on the putter and what type of material and finish it has. Generally speaking though the process would be remove any plating on the metal. Fill the stamp with weld and then grind and buff it smooth. If the putter was plated then you would need to refinish it after. It's a bigger process to get it done right. I would recommend calling a refinishing shop like BOS, Slighter or Lamont Mann and ask about pricing before you purchase if this is the route you are wanting to go. I could easily see this doubling what you paid for the putter. cnosil 1 Quote Driver: SLDR w/ Fujikura Ventus Black 3w: '16 M2 hl w/ Diamana D+ 82 5w: Launcher HB w/ HZRDUS Yellow Hybrid: 22 deg. ChitownM2
I can't imagine it would be economically feasible to do it. Unless you're picking up a circle T for a few hundred dollars I'm sure you'd be better off finding one that doesn't have to be refinished. It might be easier to make the punches deeper to press in the stamps instead of filling them. There is a risk of going through the finish, but using a punch you can press in the old stamped letters to be flat depressions. However, sometimes the story of who had it before is worth doing nothing at all. And, there is always adding more letters to make it your own. ballplayer002003
I appreciate the feedback, it sounds like it would NOT be cost effective. This is what I was thinking all along, just needed to confirm with smarter people than myself. I will keep looking. Thanks everyone. Rtracymog
Try Flanigan Bilt putters. I’ve seen him do some really impressive work, but I don’t know on the costs.Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Quote Cortex w/MGS Motore X F1 7X tipped 1" F5 17 degree hybrid w/Rogue Black 85X C300 Forged 3-5 w/C-Taper 130X FG Tour V6 5-6 w/C-Taper 130X Staff Model Blade 7-PW w/C-Taper 130X RTX4 52, 56, 60 w/S400 Tour Issue ER7
