fixyurdivot
Kind of a odd decision IMO. The course had received 7 inches of rain and was deemed "playable" but "not up to expected championship standards". So, the top six seeds automatically advance and the others just got dealt a pretty big $hit sandwich . I think it would have been much better to say the course was not playable. Lots of anguish from the parking lot area when they announced the decision. Looking at the pictures, no doubt there was standing water and things were soggy, but lift & place, casual water relief, etc. could be used to make the best of a lousy situation. All players have to deal with the same conditions/rules. For a good many players, it may well be the end of their golfing careers. ‘Thank you for ending our careers': Heavy rain leads to NCAA controversy (golf.com) GolfSpy_BNG, BKordon, IDontGiveAchuck and 3 others 4 2 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Official Review) AI-One Milled Seven T CH (Official Review)
tony@CIC
I agree - lousey way to handle this. Just because you're in the top six going in, doesn't mean that's where you end up. Lots of egg on the NCAA officials faces on this one. GolfSpy_BNG
Gotta say the ncaa really missed an opportunity to show that women’s sports matter to them. There are certainly some similarities to what happened during the NCAA Basketball tournament. The men had full weight rooms set up in a conference center and the women got a small rack of weights. A girl from Oregon pointed this out on social media and after a litany of excuses, the NCAA made an attempt to correct it. Bottom line, NCAA makes a tacit effort at best, if it isn’t football or Men’s basketball. These are the two sports that generate revenue. Everything else is a victim of bureaucracy. Title IX at least provides some opportunities for female athletes. tony@CIC 1 Quote Mizuno ST190, 9 degrees, Fujikura Ventus Black 6S Mizuno ST190, 14 degrees, Fujikura Ventus Black 7S Mizuno ST200 , 18 degrees, Fujikura Ventus Blue 7X Miura CB 301, 4 iron, Fujikura Ventus 9x Miura CB 301, 5-PW Nippon Modus 120S Miura K Grind, 52, 54 and 58, Nippon Modus 130s hand ground by Usher Golf Miura KM 006 LH

PMookie
Great tweet this morning stating that the LPGA cut a course down to just 12 holes in the Bahamas and played, and that’s true “championship” golf. There were a lot of options that they didn’t take a look at from cutting down the number of holes used, to moving to the TPC, etc. I would’ve thought they would’ve brought all of the coaches in and asked them what they want to do. Sucks, for sure. BKordon, fixyurdivot, M. JonMUSC08
Extremely disappointing to see. Especially with the continuous scrutiny & hot water the NCAA puts themselves in with women's sports that they would do this. Right after the fiasco from the womens bball tourney too. Not sure who's steering that ship but they make the captain of the Titanic look competent. fixyurdivot, BKordon, PMookie and 1 other 4 Quote Charleston, SC HDCP 13.0 Driver: M6 9* with 65g Stiff Mitsubishi Tensei Red shaft 3 wood: G425 stiff shaft 5 wood: Stealth 2 stiff shaft 4-gw irons: JPX 921 Hot Metal w/ X-stiff KBS 130gr shafts (soft stepped) Wedges: MG3 52, 56, 60 Putter: 34" Scotty Cameron 12.5 Ball: ProV-1x Tracked By: MGS Tester '20 - G710 Iron Review MGS Tester '19 - Precision Pro NX9 HD Pro laser rangefinder

M. Parsons
This sucks for those women golfers...however, I'm not sure why people keep comparing it to the Women's NCAA BBall Tourney, that was a completely different situation. College Golf doesn't really bring in that much money, regardless of men or women. I will admit that they probably would've handled it differently if it were the men's teams, but there's no real way to know that for sure. While yes, the situations were different, the optics are the same. It’s a bad look and when these examples continue to present themselves, particularly in the women’s arena of college athletics, the comparisons need to be drawn. This is the only way the narrative changes. This is exactly why federal laws like Title IX had to be implemented. The playing field is in fact, not level. fixyurdivot
So it now comes down to Oklahoma State vs. Ole Miss. I suspect this years national champions (a first for both teams) will forever have an asterisk attached to their hardware... completely beyond their control. OSU was really dominant yesterday and seems to be the oddsmakers pick. Grayhawk GC looks really nice for a Scottsdale public track.
