TR1PTIK
Perhaps this has been discussed elsewhere, but how much of a difference does the slope adjustment make for you guys that have used both iterations of rangefinder? Looking at purchasing an NX7 and trying to figure out if it's worth the increase in price. tony@CIC
There's one course we play that I use my PP (old HD which I believe is now NX-9) on. The course is very hilly and it can make a difference on that course of about 10 yds. If you play a course with little elevation then it's probably not worth the extra $$. It's worth it as even a minor elevation change can be a club difference (depending on pin location too). Now saying that, my game at times would just be happy to be ON the green in regulations but for the times when my game is on its great. You can always turn off the slope function for say tournaments. You can't add that function to a device that doesn't have it to start. I did an official review of the NX-7 Pro. I'll see if I can find the link to it. I still use it to this day! Edit: the search doesn't seem to go back far enough . I'll be glad to answer any questions about it though. MDGolfHacker What's In This Lefty's Bag? My issue is that I don't feel like I struggle a whole lot when adjusting for slope unless it's a dramatic shift in elevation. That's kinda my feeling on it. In all honesty there's only one or two courses I've ever played where the elevation change is significant enough to leave me second guessing club choice. I was just curious to see if anyone's had some sort of eye-opening experience with it before I pull the trigger on something. CarlH
Unless you live (or play) where the course has significant elevation changes, you may never really utilize the feature of slope. However, if you ever play courses where there are holes that have enough slope that 2-3 club differences are typical, it's worthwhile. There's a hole at one of our munis in the area that, if you just went by the stated distance number, you might be hitting an 8 iron. When in reality, it's enough downhill that you're likely hitting a PW to hit the green. On my home course, there are several holes where the slope is gradual, but it's a one club difference. Of course, you get used to a course you play frequently and using the slope indicator is insignificant. Bear in mind that elevation indication MUST be turned off for tournament play. It really comes into play when you are playing a course you're not familiar with. If you tend to play the same courses, you'll already have a feel for the elevation so the NX-7 Pro with slope isn't a big deal. MDGolfHacker What's In This Lefty's Bag?
