time to get strong and fast again

This discussion is so topical for me. Almost three years ago, I began a journey to transform my body. The motivation was threefold. Look good, be stronger and hit longer. I used Beach Body's "Body Beast" program, bought a pair of adjustable dumbbells (10-70 lbs, 5lb increment), and other basic gear. I've been through the program 4 times since. 2 times to completion and 2 times partial (due to injury. I was probably too eager for my 50 year old body). I was able to shed about 20 pounds and gain quite of bit of muscle. I dreaded leg days, but was able to fight through them because of the results I was seeing. (Ability to lift more). I usually don't go half-way when I commit to something so, this has been a big part of my life for past 3 years.

I was able to achieve 2 of my 3 goals. I looked better and was much stronger. But, distance gains were minimal. I was OK with this since hitting first 2 goals were rewarding enough. I just chalked up the lack of increased distance to.. I'm not sure what.

Anyway, fast forward to last month. I began Super Speed Training and boom. Increased distance... Go figure. This must be the 10th post of mine praising Super Speed Training. I assure you, I don't work for them!! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants more distance. This is not to take away the importance of strength training, especially your core for balance and prevention of injury.
