Prodigal Duffer
I am interested in practicing more but am more likely to do so if I don’t have to go to a range. I saw an ad for BirdieBalls and am very intrigued. I’ve got the space where I could hit these balls their full distance (claimed 40 yards). For anyone who has tried them, what do you think of them as a training tool? And are they durable? Thanks in advance! Tom the Golf Nut
They are extremely durable. I have a sleeve of three that I got at a trade show as a giveaway. Yhey are probably 5 years old now and still going strong. They do only go up to 40 yards. They also act like a real ball. Meaning they will go left or right if you don't hit it square. You really need a flat surface to hit them off of. They can get hung up in grass. You need to hit them standing up like a cup. They do make a unique sound as well. They are definitely a good training tool when you have Iimited space. I personally have a lot of space and still use them because I'm lazy and don't want to walk 100 plus yards to pick up real balls. cksurfdude, MGoBlue100, Stuka44 and 1 other 4 Quote Driver, TSi 1 S Flex 3 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 7 Wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 Hybrid King Tec MMT R Flex Irons, Tour UST Recoil 95 R Flex (6 - Gap) Wedges, Snakebite KBS Hi- Rev2.0 54* & 60* Agera 35" Ultralight 14-way Cart Bag

Prodigal Duffer
Thanks to @blackngold_bloodfor the box of Birdie Balls. Took them out this morning and had a blast. Love their flight and range. Did some research the other day and came up with some reasons I’ve been hard hooking the ball. Worked on some things and, mostly, had great ball flight. The best part of practice this morning was my 6 year old “caddying.” She was a great cheerleader and ball retriever. Best part was that her participation was unsolicited and totally voluntary. MGoBlue100
Pretty sure @GolfSpy Barbajo did a big write up on Birdie Ball in the not “too” distant past. vandyland
I have used Birdie Balls for the last few years and I would point out that in cold weather (sub 40 degrees) they seem to be more prone to cracking. But I agree they are a great substitute if you can't get to the range and you do need a rather tight lie to hit off of. I think they work best on 5i and 6i swings. Wedges are okay but they spin the birdie ball so much it is hard to get much of a sense of your ball striking. I only use wedges with Birdie Balls in the backyard .. exactly because it seems to magnify any small strike or clubface error! @Prodigal Duffer was gonna suggest using a hitting mat or pad. Also, if you have a dog don't let him/her uhhh "help" you practice .. ie. chew on them .. my original Birdies have a customized flight but thanks to @Kenny B I have a few clean ones! sirchunksalot and Kenny B 2 Quote WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ... Prodigal Duffer
Just got a strike pad for Christmas. Definitely a big help. I’ve found the balls helpful with all of my irons and wedges. The biggest challenge for me has been gauging when the ball flight is the result of me versus the wind (it is very windy here). My $0.10 solution has been to make sure I hit directly into or with the wind. sirchunksalot, cksurfdude and Stuka44 3 Quote 2023 MGS tester: OnCore VERO X1 ball 2024 MGS tester: Edel Array putter Driver: Callaway Epic Max 9* 3W: Ping G425 max Irons: Srixon JX5-MKII (5-PW) 48* Titleist Vokey SM9 52* Cleveland RTX Zipcore 56* Titleist Vokey SM8 Putter: Edel Array B-
