Bubba1985
Went to Oakwing golf course about a month ago and got to use the Callaway AI smoke with a stiff blue tensei shaft.. Compared it to my trusty Sim2 Max and while it did give me a few more yards on mis-hits, just didn't hit the fairways or feel as good as my driver..Sim2 Max stays in the bag! I had never really heard about counter balanced puttters, but had me intrigued! My putting is so bad, I’m looking for any help I can get! Try cross handed with a face balanced putter. Spyder type, fang type, you choose, but find a face bal you like, spend a few hours practicing. Look at left Brian Harman, or the LPGA rookie winner last October Hae Ran Ryu. A fat grip helps. I place my front (left) hand almost totally below the right hand, index finger on the shaft. Mt right index finger and thumb barely touch the pad of my left palm. I think Billy Horschel does also. I never see a combo. But Matt Fitzpatrick putts and sometimes chips cross. For me, the longer the putt, the better I like cross handed. Short putts are where I need the right comfort level of size, weight, grip to make a straight hit, no twist. For some reason I find it easier to hit longer putts , maybe it is more head speed keeps the inertia of the putter going straight , where as on a short putt, there is less energy moving forward, so it is easier for a small unwantd wrist mvmt to ruin the putt. cksurfdude and Rob Person 2 Quote Drv: PXG 0211, Evnflo Riptide CB Senior, Callaway 454 TI (2004) 10 and an 11, regular flex. 3W: Callaway Steelhead Xr Tensei Blue CK 55 gram senior. Golf88
Just bought the ping g430 10K 9 degree w/ tour stiff shaft. Pretty good so far. Upgrade for sure from my stealth 2 but I still prefer my Rogue LS. However, I do notice about a 5-10 yard bump from my Rogue with a higher ball flight. I tried my buddies Qi10 on the range and I did find it to be a huge upgrade from last years stealth 2. I may venture to get one because I was liking the ball flight, accuracy and distance. I just purchased the new copper 790 irons 5-PW and mini driver copper. Should be here this week. I'm a little nervous because they appear to be more a players irons than im used to. I've always traditionally used a game improvement iron. cburins
Taylormade Speedsoft Review I recently bought the new Taylormade Speedsoft golf balls! I have been bouncing around from Bridgestone and Taylormade. First impression - I really like the overall feel of this ball. I went with just the blank white as the ink design might affect the look of my putting line, but I wouldn't be apposed to trying the inked versions as they look pretty cool. Not sure how they would work with on course visibility. I tend to look for softer golfballs as I find the feel of them coming off the face is more pure and revealing. Comparing current ball - I did notice that I was getting more distance than my usual Taylormade Distance+. Not sure if I was just having a good ball striking day or these golf balls were just compressing and giving more distance. It was a bit tough to gauge what club to use though and it somewhat threw my distances off. My 56 is my stock 100yd club and on a 110yd par 3 I carried it to the back fringe of the green. Would need to use these for another round and maybe different weather conditions to truly find out. Cons - The only downside to this golfball that I've come across is that my permanent marker line seemed to fade a lot more than other golf balls I've used in the past. Through 7 holes the line was very faded and I had to reapply the line to the ball. My initial markings were almost completely gone. This could be weather related as it was raining, but Ive never had this issue in the past. Overall - I think this might be the ball I use going forward. Great price point and great feel. My putting was amazing, most putts my weight was perfect and I felt the interaction with the ball was helping. Irons felt amazing as well, even with the mis hits it still had a good feeling and flight. The pic below was my drive off the tee of a par 5. Right down the middle leaving myself 175 to the pin! JY56
Looking to freshen the top end of my bag. Tried and fitted for Callaway, Ping and TM. All the drivers worked well but for me it was close between TM and Ping 10k's with the feel edge going to the Ping after finding the right shaft. 3W was between Ping G430 Max and Callaway Smoke Max and hybrid between Ping G430 and Callaway Apex. Gapping, ball flight and feel was more consistent with Ping for me. There's going to be 3 new Pings moving in soon. CM12
My driver is 11 years old now, and I'm finally looking to replace it. I've been trying lots of low-spin drivers such as Darkspeed LS, AI Smoke triple diamond, Qi10 LS, etc. With most of those I can get my spin in the 1800-2200 range, which is great. But with some other low spin setups I'm still close to 3000. Non low-spin drivers I'm closing in on 4000 and above. The weird thing is that I hit up on the ball by about 3-5 degrees. I'm not sure what is causing all this spin but I'd love to get it figured out. I'll probably end up buying a low-spin driver, but it'd be great to figure out why I can't keep the spin down otherwise.
