Extension or Soft step?

Recommended Posts

Alright newish and ready to experiment. My current irons are playing 1/2" shorter then I prefer. 6i is currently 36". I have a spare 3i shaft that I do not use and was debating soft stepping to gain that extra half an inch. I also have added extensions to my irons in previous sets. I know soft stepping will make my irons slightly less stiff which if anything I need slightly stiffer compared to my last fitting.

Help me learn what do you all think is best?

I say soft step and see what it’s like. I did it with a set of LZ shafts and didn’t notice a difference. You can always pull them and extend if it doesn’t work out.

Another note from a club ho’

Soft stepped shafts are easier to sell than extended shafts for some reason. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Appreciate the comment. I didn't consider the resale aspect of the shafts.
