Paul Carlson
Just wondering if MyGolfSpy has evaluated iron sets from DTC companies such as Takomo, Sub 70, PXG, etc. if so, where can I find those ratings/evaluations? IndyBonzo 1 Quote Link to comment

Hioharald
I actually also thought about this to. I think that these brand don't get enough exposure on these websites, PXG irons are my favourite! Bossfan
I would also read threads on these companies. Good to read what people’s experience is with these companies products and customer service. I know there is a long Sub 70 thread that helped me make my decision. Byrnzee
I would love to hear if anyone's had experience with direct to consumer irons and how they've affected their game. I personally think they have been a great addition to the golf equipment industry. Additional competition of high-quality brands usually leads to better overall products for consumers. I can't lie... those Takomo irons look so clean. PXG is up there as well. New Level, Haywood, Takomo, and Caley are still pretty new and haven't been through as much most wanted testing. Sub70 has the best customer service by far.Sent from my Samsung Note20 Ultra 5G using Tapatalk. Donn lost in San Diego
I don't know if Indi Golf is considered DTC, it is a small wedge & putter company in Carlsbad. There is a article here in the forum started by RevKey, I added 2 comments, I heartily recommend trying their wedges and I am normally a Mizuno GFF guy. Indi offers several models and several grinds and conforming and non conforming grooves on every wedge. I spent about 20 minutes in their indoor bay. Like em a lot. I used to hit a lot of different clubs before I would purchase anything. Now I just set up a fitting tell them what I’m looking for and it’s worked out great. biggolfguy1990
My 2 cents: Starting off, my general consensus is that DTC brands are great for the game, but have to prove themselves first. Currently gaming Haywood Driving Iron and Wedges. I chose them over the other brands because of how clean their clubs look. Customer Service was great considering I called 3 times with multiple questions. Driving Iron is a rocket and wedges are awesome. The Black has barely worn off after 25+ rounds. Irons may be next but I still can't give up my Muira's. I do Love how their Driver looks, but still wanting to see more on them review wise before I consider it. Think DTC brands need to prove their woods more than their irons. I tried the Sub70 Driver and wasn't overly fond of it which is why I have this view. Love the way Takomo looks but when I went to order some wedges, I couldn't get a hold of one person after trying 5 plus times. From what I have read all over the web / forums, they seem like they have a decent product, but have almost no customer service. Have also read they don't touch their own clubs, meaning a factory in China assembles everything for them so there is no quality checks whereas both sub70, haywood and New Level custom build all their clubs. I didn't like the fact I couldn't fully customize my order with Takomo but its a great option I'm sure for those wanting to find a new set for the least amount of money and don't care about the clubs being fit. A 5 round a year players dream. New Level is also an option and have heard positives about their products and they have a couple of senior tour guys using them which is a positive for sure. I have read on here multiple times though that they raised their prices and are more in line with big brands now, so not too sure how big of a factor it is for you. BallsLeon 1 Quote Link to comment

Your comment got me thinking and thus I needed to go look at some prices. Oh, New Level also has Chaz Reavie and Ryan Moore on the regular tour as well, FYI. Sub70 659CB 7 iron set with Modus 105S is $1015. New Level 902-OS 7 iron set with Modus 105S is $910, currently on sale ($1050 regular price). Haywood CB's were $1019 for 7 irons and Modus 105S. PXG 0317CB's are $1316 for 7 irons and Modus 105S. Golf Galaxy has Mizuno Pro 223 7 iron set with Modus 115S is $1312 (923 Forged same price). Wilson Staff CB was the next "cheapest" at $1150 for 7 irons. ZX7 MKii are $1200. i230 are $1312. And up and up in that more Player's category. GI and PD are a bit better for most DTC's but not by a ton. Costs have gone up for everyone, even DTC's due to material costs and shortages and such. Sub70 and to some degree Haywood have a network of fitters around the country where you can go hit them and get fit. They all pretty much do virtual fittings based on back and forth discussions with their staffs and the caller, as long as the caller is being honest and/or knows details from previous fittings from other companies. So it's less of a gamble these days than it was just a few short years ago. I do like the fact that New Level, Sub70, Haywood, and even PXG build their clubs in-shop verses outsourcing the way Takomo does. I bought a set of Takomo 101 heads only and built mine locally with my preferred shaft, so I felt a little better about it. I likely won't go that route next year.
