RED-NUMBER-RON
Hello All, A mid round discussion with friends the other day sparked an interesting observation about how golfers stock up on their must have items (ei gloves, balls, tees etc.) Some of the group said that they only buy on an as needed basis and hit the pro shop for a sleeve of balls or new glove before the round. Others, myself included, said that they always keep a stock pile of rations for things I know that I will use. I always keep about 6 dozen balls, 6 gloves, a bucket full of tees, a few fresh towels ready to go in my locker/garage. I usually try to deal hunt and buy in larger quantity for these items. I'm curious to see how others go about this. Are there any other staple items you keep on hand? Rob Person, Dead Solid Bogey, GolfSpy MPR and 1 other 3 1 Quote Link to comment
GolfSpy MPR
Putters? More seriously: I tend to be used AAAA golf balls (not refurbs) in bulk; I order tees in bulk. I also buy shoes whenever I can snag a clearance pair in the $25 range; I have shoes that I likely won't start wearing for another couple of seasons, or until my sons grow into that size, whichever comes first. Byrnzee
I would agree with @thundergun I think the Costco golf gloves are one of the best golf deals in bulk you can get. I don't usually buy tees (I take a generous donation anytime a course offers free wooden ones), but I'd say quality tees or balls are always good to buy in bulk as well. TMG_Golf
When Dicks has their sale on MaxFli balls I'm usually stocking up for the year. Last fall I bought a bunch for this upcoming season. I always end up buying gloves at Costco and way more often than I should. Occasionally I'll buy a box of balls as well. I'm not sure why I buy them as I have so many lying around but there's something about picking up a box of golf balls with bananas and cashews that I can't pass up. TSauer
The only item I buy in bulk is balls, and that's because I typically buy AAAA from eBay and try to snag a few dozen at a time. I've never been one to buy 5 dozen brand new balls. I'll sometimes buy a single dozen if I find a good deal and just keep them on hand for tournaments or more serious outings. BreakfastBall15
Gloves for sure. As a lefty its rare when pro shops have right hand gloves in stock. Tees and balls are others that I usually buy a lot of once at the start of the year or if there's a sale. Tazz3296
Costco gloves, golf balls when they are on sale. However with my most recent fitting I realized I might rethink that, I’ll still probably buy in bulk once I play through what I have. Lastly tees bulk buy about once a season. Dan Underwood
I agree with Jake F. when ever I find a good deal. But I like to look for grips, balls, tees, gloves. Sometimes you good deals can be found in weird places. my wife went to some store that really never has golf stuff and found puma golf gloves for $4 each so I got all 20 that they had in my size. I almost felt bad but my son seems to leave a glove somewhere almost daily. Pezza
I guess I'm like RED-NUMBER-RON, with one exception, I also have 2 pair of golf shoes. musicalmedicine
Recently I’ve been buying gloves in bulk and trying out a few different brands. The Callaway Tour Authentic has been my glove of choice, but last week I picked up a couple PGX gloves based on MGS ranking and have to say they’re awesome and may take the top spot. I also bulk buy TP5x my symbols balls. I would like to say it’s because I play so much and I hit them so hard that they have a short lifespan, but they usually find water, the golf course rainforest, or in AZ, a hole I’m not willing to risk sticking my hand into to see if the rattlesnake is home or not. Side note: To the lucky winners who find one (or more)of these at Stono Ferry or Dunes West in Charleston in the near future, you’re welcome.
