Haven’t had the chance to game it yet! Excited to get it all set up and ready to go. Seems like it will be a pretty easy install and setup.

@Paco Chan thanks for reaching out. I really use the Garmin s70 to map my rounds. Specifically driving distance. i do not have the club tags. Really using the garmin for the GPS aspect and taking my yardages from all shots to plug them into the DECADE system to get my strokes gained. It is more time consuming than I like but it gives me what i consider is good enough.

So maybe I'm just ignorant... Garmin gives you strokes gained data. What does Decade give you that's any different?

Just got the watch! Initial impressions are good. Tags are a little bigger than I imagined. They weigh in at 2ish grams. Crazy to say but I weight my grips to make sure they are all weigh the same. Any thoughts on adding 2ish grams to the club? I'd imagine the bigger Arcos and Garmin tags weigh more.

Yep, I watched the video and subscribed to the channel. I am interested in how it compares to Garmin. I guess one of the main things for me is that Garmin is a one-stop-shop. I wear it 24/7 for two weeks at a time. It tracks EVERYTHING I do- sleep, walking, biking, hiking, golf. There is no need for me to have a device for this, a device for that, and a 3rd device for whatever.

@VernL4 my Garmin S70 does seem to stay charged forever. It is a one stop shop for golf and pretty much everything else!

I will record a video of DECADE entry and all of the data that is shows me after the round. It is a lot to say the least. You can get shot by shot strokes gained on DECADE. I do not see that on Garmin. My Garmin golf app shows me a handful of bar graphs.

Here are clips of the strokes gained from the Garmin app on my phone and also the Garmin website. On the phone it shows the actual stat when you tap on a bar. On the website, it shows the number when you hover over a bar.

I am intrigued by the Decade system helping you choose WHERE to aim. At the same time, the ball often goes in a different direction from where I had planned, so I don't know how much that would help me.

@VernL4  example from a round in DECADE. MUCH more detail. It is time consuming to enter shot by shot. image.png.d6c739978edfdf2ea8ef06017a2546e7.png

Question for the testers. Is the watch waterproof / shock proof?

For example the Garmin S62 says it’s waterproof to 5ATM and the latest Apple Watch is water resistant to 50m.

I can’t find any similar specs for any of the ShotScope watches

Morning @Hacker60521,

I have checked this a few days ago and as far as I can see, its only water resistant, not water proof, this means they are fine to wear in light rain but not for showering or swimming.  In the manual it also states "If the device becomes submerged in a liquid, turn the device off, wipe excess liquid from the surface of the device and place the device in a dry area for 24 hours. In most cases the device should power up and function properly once completely dried."

Hope this answers your question. Please give me a follow as I will be posting a full review on the watch as a MGS tester

Have a great day

Good Morning, checked the shipping for the Shot Scope V5 said it has been delivered, so checked my cameras at my house and didn’t see it. Hmmm
After some investigation on the DHL site after not seeing DHL delivering to my house figured out DHL passed it on to USPS to deliver so it sitting right now in a secure mail box.
Just a FYI to the other testers just in case, check USPS if not delivered to your door,  so right now working but will take a quick look this evening and start my review process with an on course unveiling tomorrow.

Got home late tonight after work, meeting, and youth baseball practice. My package was waiting for me on the counter.

IMG_5063.jpeg.07ad1c80b59103fbf4168f7fab941db0.jpeg

I knew I wouldn’t have time tonight to do an unboxing video so I sat the box aside and took a shower, got the kid to bed and finally sat down for some dinner.  After my wife went to bed, curiosity got the best of me and I had to open the box and check out the watch even if I didn’t have time to film it.

IMG_5068.jpeg.0eca09ab49abd58c461dd360df9426e4.jpeg

Packed with a nice note from Shotscope, congratulating me for being an official MyGolfSpy tester

Packaging is nice, here’s a look.

Watch looks very nice  The face is a little smaller than I was expecting, but looks good on my arm.  It’s been a few years since I have worn a round watch.  I’ll have to get a size comparison with the Apple Watch tomorrow

I had planned on messing around with it a tad before I went to bed but it needed to be charged before it could update the firmware, so I decided to plug it up and call it a night.  The charger is the only thing so far I’m not thrilled about, wish it was a usb like everything else charges off of but I’m sure it will be fine. I’ll probably have to order an extra cable to keep in my truck. Can’t wait to get it set up and try it out!

  • GolfSpy_APH changed the title to Shot Scope V5 2024 Forum Review

Took a little over an hour to charge the watch last night.
ShotScope offers extra putter tags for people who have multiple gamers or a SuperStroke grip that does not have a hole! Great thinking on their part. I will let you know if the tag stays on the putter or ends up at the bottom of my bag 😂

I've had the sticky P tag on my SS grip for the last 9 rounds now without issue. I think the key was a clean surface on the butt of the grip and then setting the putter on the tag here at home for a few hours to let it "set." Time will tell I guess.

Why do people call emergency meetings at the end of day, I promised a review from a course yesterday for the Shot Scope V5 today. Well, sling shot engaged, Ricky Bobby helmet on and headed home like a nascar champ. In house, out house, course by Sunset, Phewww!

Tonight I got home late again after a long day at work and kid’s golf club. After eating, spending some time with the wife and doing a workout, I got the new V5 watch charged up and firmware updates installed.  IMG_5080.jpeg.c56bd07b008ec4f3470408da05b6ec57.jpeg

Luckily I live in a golf community and the course is close enough for the gps to lock on here in the house, so I could play around on the watch for a while and get use to all the screens, functions, and how to manipulate from screen to screen. Got use to it the buttons and switching screens pretty quickly.

IMG_5084.jpeg.478cd846cdfd95ab2031585ce40f2380.jpeg

I like the layup distances and dogleg distances screen! I’m pretty sure  my H4 doesn’t have this screen or yardages on it.

IMG_5085.jpeg.e25e5ae61c62d95dbb5c78adb1557b30.jpeg

Couldn’t get a good hole view on any of the holes

Here is a size comparison to an Apple Watch 7 45mm.

Unfortunately I won’t get to get a round in with the watch this week.  The only time I had to play was early Saturday morning, and called to get a tee time and there’s a tournament there that morning. Course is closed until after noon. Should get several rounds in next weekend weather permitting.

I am officially on the board for shotscope! Was able to get a full nine holes in with it. I like the lighter weight V5 compared to the Garmin. The Garmin band is a little more comfy. Also the V5 has the strap in the opposite direction so that took a little getting used to. I really like the app and user dashboard. Shotscope even has a strategy feature where you can input the wind to simulate your shots. It will give you a plays like distance which is great to know if you like to plan your rounds in advance. For instance hole 1 is dead into the wind and you normally hit your drive 250, but bc it is into the wind you will only go 225. App is good for a free subscription. Like crazy good for free.

A lot to digest on the app but dang you can have so many data points in the palm of your hand. Really impressed with that. Can even look at data averages over time on specific holes.
I had to edit a few holes after my 9 hole round. For instance pin positions and tap ins. App is clean! Maps are good.
Playing 18 tomorrow as long as the weather holds out. Will be curious to see all Of the data after a few weeks.

Good evening, 8.15pm AZ time.
So finally updated firmware and charged Shot Scope V5 golf watch.
Charged quickly considering it started at only 22% and firmware needed at least 25% to update.
Just went through some features, easy to set up, added all my clubs, makes and models. Was very surprised they had all my makes and models available.
Changed the clock face to traditional face, personally they have several to choose from but I’m a traditional type of person.
Allowed GPS and location service and it found all my courses close to where I live, didn’t have to select any as all were highlighted and check marked. Honestly loved that.
Will be playing golf on Sunday and before that will set up all the golf screw tags to see how that part of the tech works. They also have some type of reward tags, not sure how this works but will update everyone once it starts, I’m guessing it will do this automatically. IMG_2615.png.02653a487e8da2afe60f497a2912a4f6.pngIMG_2622.jpeg.ad47e55667a05e0488c657ad15211730.jpegIMG_2618.png.6a3537ab204301caca0c30fbbf3d8829.pngIMG_2621.png.b7b9791342bb13ce54483544988e83bb.pngIMG_2619.png.db53bae2fe30cfe41b619d082d8d3320.png

Watch lasted 2 full rounds. So far so good. I’d say the wins are the app, the tags, the watch weight. The club tags tag about 95% of the shots. It will miss approximately 1/20 so that is pretty solid. What needs improvement is the tagging of the pin. I have to go in after the round and edit the pin locations and the putts. Takes a little bit of time to do it on the app. I will try the desktop edits and see if that is faster. The yardages are right on point…Zero issues and they are accurate! Stats are funneling in so that is neat… can look at tee shots, approaches, short game, putting, etc. would be nice to compile all of the data over 20-30 rounds! Hopefully I can get that many in before the testing period ends.

I’m human, I’m not suicidal, so my golf brain was in full play golf today mode, my human brain was laughing at my golf brain.
All club grips have been tagged and ready to go. Only issue is my Super stroke grip will not allow me to screw in the tag, I know Shot Scope have tags that stick on top but I don’t need them.
I’ve been looking at the new Golf Pride reverse taper grip and will be changing over to that grip so that’s another added review on something separate to Shot Scope as I can screw into the Golf Pride.
So back to human, not suicidal!

My 18 year old daughter explained to me last night that playing golf on Mother’s Day was suicidal, I laughed and she gave me that look that said, dad you going to sleep with one eye open. lol

Managed to find a table available this morning, praying helped, off to lunch soon.

So my golf review on course sorry to say will have to start next week.

Golf tabs where easy to screw in and they are labeled on top for each club, if anyone purchases the Shot Scope V5 watch I would start with hold the tab and turning the club first for about half way and then screw in with hand tight pressure, that seemed to be easier.

Another round in today. Easier to edit the pin location on the desktop! Fun to see some of the stats start to trickle in. Will be great after a month to have the data on the app with the nice pictures telling you where you need to improve. Watch works fine for front, middle, back. A little learning curve pressing the buttons to figure out the other distances to bunkers, hazards, etc. The dashboard is well done. I like the visuals. image.png.09244bede4e2e0dfbc5853baf3becb30.png

Are there any specific types of shots that the watch is not picking up , like chips or just randomly missing some?  I’m use to the H4 where I have to tag my club to the unit before every shot, so if it misses a shot, it’s my fault.  The putting is kinda frustrating on the h4 also. I try to step off my first putt and write down that distance. I’ve seen 18 foot putts show as a 2 foot putt after the round. I do all my putt editing on the computer. Someone in the Shotscope group said it’s gps issues not necessarily the device.

@unccross I think when I play quickly / hit partial shots it doesn’t register. Might think it’s a practice swing.

Slow sales day tomorrow so I’m going to try to get in at least 9 holes in before work tomorrow. I was planning on just leaving my tags from the H4 in my clubs and use them but I noticed that the tags for the V5 appeared larger than the h4 tags. IMG_5099.jpeg.33b9183d4c4f3e525e0369d358cec20a.jpeg

After getting the tape measure out and doing some measuring, It appears that the tags for the V5 are larger in diameter and almost twice as thick

My assumption would be that the H4 tags are smaller due to having to touch the tag to the device for it to read, but that’s just a guess. Now I’m going get off here and take out all of the H4 tags and install all the V5 tags.

Here is a screen size comparison.

Do you utilize the Pin Collect feature when you finish a hole and grab the ball out of the cup? I use that and it's usually pretty spot on locating the cup on the post-round review.
