Golf Sandals?

Recommended Posts

Probably going to get some questionable looks or remarks, but what are your thoughts on GOLF sandals?

 Anyone play golf in them?

Pros? Cons?

I dont wear toe split sandals (flip flops), never could, just didn't feel good and very unsteady while walking. I prefer slides style sandals, but they have to be velcro flapped. Strap type are ok, but can really irritate my heel and bridge of my feet after a short while.

Have seen an ad for these several times now so checked out the website.

https://www.zoriz.com/

They offer spiked and spikeless sandals. They also have a HeyDude style golf shoes as well.

They have a menu option too for clearance,  blemishes,  etc at a deeply discounted price. Sizes were very limited

I also see FJ,  Ecco, Skechers, and quite a few other shoe companies offer sandals for on the course. Any comparisons that might help someone decide which brand?

Are they worth the price of $30-$120 !

I had a pair when I first started playing golf (about 12 yrs ago). While it seems like they would make sense especially in hot weather I found a couple of problems. One is the exposure of your feet to the sun - I got sunburned a few times. The other is sand from bunkers along with other debris from normal walking on the course - it seemed like no matter what I tried, I couldn't shake/clean the sand or debris out til I got home. Note: my wife whose preferred footwear is sandals gave up on golf sandals shortly after she bought a pair (same reasons). I find golf shoes just as comfortable as sandals, provide more traction and none of the issues I mentioned above.  Hope this helps.

I thought about clippings and sand too. Good points.

I neglected to mention the pros and cons of wearing socks with those sandals 😱

No Nada and Nope!!! I’m not the Lord Jesus and I don’t wear sandals 🩴. To each their own though.

I could play golf every day and learn something new each time.

@Rob Person I can’t imagine how sandals would give any grip to the turf. I just see me spinning my feet out of them during a full swing.

I too questioned this. Especially on super hot and humid days.

My wife (who no longer plays) loved her Footjoy sandals. We shared the same instructor, and he told me she was better with them because they had a wider sole. There is a guy in my league who prefers sandals, and he owns a chain of running shoe stores, so I'm assuming they're not bad for your feet.

I had a pair of golf sandals similar to the Footjoy design.  Living in Key West, I thought they would work in the heat.  My biggest issue was we play first thing in the morning and by the time I made the first green my feet would be soaking wet from the dew.   That just made my foot slip and feel clammy.  I tried them twice and them tossed them.

In our men's league here, we have two occasional players that wear them all the time.  It works for them.

I bought a [air decades ago prior to a trip to Hawaii. Wore them once and they have been on a rack since. Just felt uncomfortable,

I have a friend that plays in golf sandals all the time and he loves it. I wear sandals all the of time off course and wouldn’t mind giving the golf sandals a try. We also have a local par 3 course that is super low key and I walk that wearing flip flops quite a bit. If it makes you comfortable, do it.

Bought a pair and just like Tony found out they were a POOR choice.  I know we wear sandals at the beach but IN the beach on a golf course, you will not be a happy camper.

Sim2 MaxD, Cobra F7 3W, Ping G400 5W, Ping G425 7W, Ping G410 5-UW, Volkey SM-9 54,58, Taylormade Spider Tour (this changes periodically)

That may or may not be good or bad.
