Need a couple of alignment rods and some elastic bands. The video showed the chopstick drill and using the alignment sticks for alignment references. I watched the video and came here to comment about the "chopstick" drill. I've been taught what looks like a similar drill, but instead of rubber bands, just grabbing the spot they cross with thumb and forefinger of each hand. Taking strokes like that locks out the wrists and gives a feel for rocking the shoulders. You can then hold the alignment sticks and a putter all together to take practice strokes. On the flip side, I've seen some putting videos where they suggest you have at least some wrist flexion and extension during the swing as wrist movement is helpful for distance "feel". I'm curious if there is a majority view on this. I personally have found I do better on short putts with no wrist movement, and better on lag putts if I use a little wrist movement, but this could all be mental on my part influenced by what I've heard. cksurfdude, Rob Person and cnosil 3 Quote Rick Driver: Callaway Ai Smoke TD 10.5 Denali Black 60 Stiff 3 Wood: Cobra Aerojet 15 Kai'li Blue 60 Stiff 3 Hybrid: Cobra Aerojet 19 KBS PGI 85 Stiff 5 Hybrid - Mizuno 220 ST-X 220 Aldila Ascent 50 Stiff 6 Hybrid - Mizuno 220 ST-X 220 Tensei CK Blue 70 Stiff Irons 5-Gap: Mizuno JPX 923 Forged, Recoil SW 780 Stiff Wedges: Cleveland RTX3 V-MG Cavity Back 50 turned to 52 and 56/11 Putter: Odyssey 2 Ball
cnosil
Day 1 drill: Balance place two alignment sticks on the floor and stand on them with the arches of your feet centered. You can rock a little; balance yourself heel to toe. Mistake is players get to into the toes and have to recenter during the stroke. When standing on the sticks get into posture; you don’t want to go into the toes or heels. Get yourself balanced. Make some practice strokes and maintain the balance. Then make some actual strokes. Sense the even balance/pressure between balls of feet and heels. cksurfdude, RickM71, Rob Person and 2 others 5 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: Paradym AI Smoke Max HL 16.5* w/MCA TENSEI AV Series Blue Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Render w/VA Composites Baddazz Backup Putters: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe, Milled Collection RSX 2 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017

cnosil
Day 2: pelvis stability lay an alignment stick on the ground parallel to the target line. Insert an alignment stick through your front belt loops. Back up so that the alignment rod presses against a wall and make some strokes Ensure you are setup parallel to the rod on the floor and during the stroke make sure the rod doesn’t move on the wall. On backstroke it shouldn’t press more against the wall, it shouldn’t move left or right which indicates and sway, or come away on the through stroke. cksurfdude 1 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: Paradym AI Smoke Max HL 16.5* w/MCA TENSEI AV Series Blue Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Render w/VA Composites Baddazz Backup Putters: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe, Milled Collection RSX 2 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017

cnosil
Follow up QA session this morning after last nights webinar to get to the questions that weren’t answered. some high level things that stood out to me. the putter won’t make you a better player work on skills speed control requires consistent rhythm there is no single ideal stroke type just putting at home rolling putts across the room on a mat probably isn’t helpful. Work on rhythm, setup gates, etc. do things to get feedback. Torque, forgiveness, lines, etc are fine tuning elements and won’t fix your putting Systems for reading putts need to be explored and experimented with. length, aiming, loft, lie angle is the order of preference for fitting a putter. lead hand low can help with body alignment issues. as putts get longer you will need to leverage arms and hands more in the stroke. Shorter putts are more torso. anyone can putt at the level of a tour player. Ou need to understand concepts and work on key skills. another webinar to answer questions will be at 7pm uk time. cnosil
Day 3: 100 foot drill and torso movement drill: setup 4 balls around a hole with a ball at 5, 10, 15, and 20 feet with a variety of slopes. You will do this at 5 holes for a total of 20 putts. Goal is to make 100ft (or whatever you baseline) first putts. So if you make the 5 and 15 at the first hole your total is 20, torso movement: this drill requires a little setup. Using a box to elevate the first alignment rod set it up at the lie angle of your putter and tape the top to the wall. With the second alignment rod use elastic bands on your arms to secure it to your chest. Back into the vertical alignment rod and make strokes to ensure the rod goin across your chest stays on the vertical rod through the entire stroke and doesn’t press harder into the rod or come off the rod. Your are trying to evaluate if you have the correct posture and matching torso movements. Per the description it is importantly to consider your posture as it will impact your ability to match the shaft plane. If the plane feels steep forward bend more and see if that helps make it feel more natural. Vise versa if it feels too flat Edited October 11 by cnosil cksurfdude 1 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: Paradym AI Smoke Max HL 16.5* w/MCA TENSEI AV Series Blue Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Render w/VA Composites Baddazz Backup Putters: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe, Milled Collection RSX 2 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
cnosil
Day 4: arms on plane. using the same setup as day 3, move the bands and stick down to your forearms. You should be able to see if your arms are aligned. When making a stroke the rod should move up and down the plane stick. If it is moving away, you are moving arms away from the plane. If you are push8ng against the rod and feel tension in the bands you are moving inside. Goal is to stay on plane through the entire stroke. cnosil
Day 5: chopstick drills. put a band around the bottom 2 alignment sticks. Separate the other end and put them under your armpits and put adjust the height so you hands fit in the V. When making a stroke you should feel the torso movements and your hands and arms should be taken out if the stroke. You can then get you putter; put you putter on the outside, let the shaft rest on the V, and make some putts. after I did this drill and stopped using the chopsticks I felt like a ghost control of my stroke. The things I didn’t like was that I get excessive putter droop on the backstroke and then hit all over the face. I felt like I accomplished the other drills pretty effectively. Not sure what is happening with this one. cksurfdude
@cnosil these are all great and THX!! for taking time to write it all down and post! Monte is also big on the stick thru the front belt loops to check for turning the hips. Interestingly he's also a proponent of a firm grip on the putter (not too tight but definitely not loose). rkj427
One thing I found out is that I am able to save the emails from Phil related to the 5 lessons, and when I open the link to the lesson/videos themselves, if I save them as a "favorite" in my web browser, they are available for me to review. EDIT: This information is for those who DO NOT use Facebook to access his lessons, but rather receive a daily email from the initial sign-up. I have practiced some of the lessons, hoping to get a few more sessions completed indoors while the weather here is wet, and then go to the practice green at the course nearby where I can attempt to 100 foot drill. Thanks @cnosil for posting this link to the 5 Lessons here, as I am certain those that view them and practice them should see improvement.
