Going down to Ft. Worth next week for a family vacation. Looking for suggestions on a course to play in that area. Have to be able to play as a single as I believe I'll be on my own, and hoping to keep it to $75 or less with cart.

Doesn't have to be a fancy course, but I would prefer not to play a goat ranch either.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

It is a shame I can't join you.  I came to Fort Worth and played with Angry Hulk a couple of years ago.  And normally I would try to work something out but I am headed to Memphis this week for four days and have other plans next week.

There are a number of municipal courses in Ft. Worth that are nice, and it really depends on where you are staying on which is the best.  Hulk and I played Waterchase in far east Ft. Worth (Arlington) and it was very nice.  That course was built around a deep narrow river. It was a pretty nice course, although we played it in winter so it will be vastly different now.

I also have played Meadowbrook Golf Course near downtown.  That course boast the most terrain changes of any municipal in the DFW area.  It was a fun course also.  If you have a full day, you can go to Pecan Valley south of town where they have 36 holes and you have the choice between the River Course or the Hills Course.  You can play both these for less than $75 during the week.

They only one I would recommend against is Rockwood Golf Course.  They have 4 temporary greens at this time.  In all Ft. Worth has 4 or 5 muni courses that are probably less than $40 during the week.

My favorite place to play in the DFW Area is The Tribute and the Old American Golf Club courses (same place.)  It will run you $80 bucks and is a hike from Fort Worth and may take you an hour to get there depending on where you are coming from, but it has two courses.  One has replica hole of the Scottish courses used in The Open Championship, (The Tribute).  You have to drive over a trailer on 17 to represent the hotel on 17 at St. Andrews.  The Old American Golf Club has 18 holes from past US Open courses.  http://thetribute.com/old-american-golf-club/
