Maybe that is emphasis to push him over the top. If he wins, and that's a big IF, that might be the confidence booster he needs. The course for next weeks event does not require you to hit driver all that much either. Last time that I played Plainfield from the tips I hit driver three times. Westchester is a fantastic old golf course but unfortunately the game has passed it by. It is not nearly long enough for the PGA Tour and was barely acceptable for the LPGA Championship. I play it a few times a year and the par 5's are reachable and many of the 4's are driver wedge at most. From the tips the course barely stretches to 7,000 yards and the greens are not as penal as say Merion. It is a shame since the course is just magnificent and a true old gem. Kenny B Posted August 21, 2015 Share Posted August 21, 2015 So, Tiger's round of -6 was a good round for him, but it looks like the cut is probably going to be -4. That means he can't have a bad round tomorrow. One quote I heard today is: "Tiger did not raise the bar for the PGA Tour, he raised the floor." All of the records and low rounds are still there, and haven't really changed much since the days of Tiger. What has changed is that all of the young kids coming up are starting out at a much higher level than when Tiger was in his prime. They got better because of Tiger, and now its seems that there are so many young guns that not only make the cut and the playoffs, but expect to win in their first year. Decided Tiger was a big enough risk. 3 times this year I made my picks using hotel WiFi and it turned out to not go through. Once I ended up with no one entered in the tournament. And once I had 2 guys. But they were on the bench Thursday and missed the cut. So I really have no reason to keep picking. Picking Tiger was not great risk since I am 30th or worse. I think Tiger can win this, however, him beating the bottom 125 or so players, many of which will be losing their tour cards is not that big of a story. Tiger winning this and playing well enough to win the Fed Ex Cup is freaking huge and would probably deserve to trump Spieth;s run. I am not saying that will happen, but I could see him extending his season for a couple (meaning 2) weeks. But I also would not be shocked if he fired a 120 (80 actually).
