Continuing the work re: reducing my spin with the driver. Another micro range session for lunch today. Focusing on staying back, swinging in to out and making contact on the way up rather than the way down. It’s a work in progress, but starting to see results.

Date 05/24/2023 Course Name Sulphur Springs Country Club Gross Score 80 Course Handicap 8 Gross Strokes over/under par 8 Net Score to Par 0 Net Score 72 Net Birdies or better 9 Longest Drive 260 I made a subtle change in my downswing move today and ball striking was great. 12/14 Fwys 9/18 GIR. Putter wasn’t “hot” but not bad with 31 putts. It was windy as heck and hit 3 balls into the hazards, resulting in 2 doubles and a bogey. 
 
The most important thing is I figured out my alignment issue I developed Sunday.

Tournament prep again today. Worked on pressure shifts and then did some variability drills to calibrate face strike. Learned with irons, if I focus on trying to hit the toe, I hit them more consistently. Driver, Worked on all out and then fairway finder swings. Also did some face strike drills. Ultimately with driver, if I really focus on wrist loading to start the swing, my consistency goes up and everything is playable. I am likely playing up at the white tees and a lot of my danger carries are 200-210, which i can easily reach past on fairway finder swings. Finally, I focused on a few tee shots I expect to play on Saturday. Hit really solid 4w and 7w off the tee. Irons also really solid, to the point I may be taking too much club in my planning. 🙂 

Today I practiced not spilling beer in the cup holder while driving a golf cart in the rough! Turns out if you hold it it spills less

Well after my last round my irons really let me down so i went out to the range and hit every iron in my bag still cant figure out why I'm hitting what feels like every other shot fat but all I can do is keep practicing 

I took a trip to the range after work today and honestly should have aborted the plan after my wife asked if I could run by the store for some oil to use in cooking tonight. I was riding the entire time I was there and didn't have too good of a range session. 
I did hit some good wedges and the hybrids were awesome again. I fell back into old habits with the irons and shanked way too many shots. I finally straightened that out about the time I was hitting my last 5 or so balls. I discovered I was too tense and once I loosened up, I hit some beautiful 7 irons. I'm not going to complain because I at least ended on a high note.
I'm enjoying a little extra distance when I hit those puppies pure. 

Good day of wedge practice.  I had one of the two short game greens to myself this morning and the crowd was fairly light so I got the opportunity to practice from a little longer range than I usually do.  I've been fairly competent with my wedges inside 25 yards lately getting up and down a lot from that range...  outside 25, not so much.   I picked a single flag, set up some tees at 5 & 10 feet then used an alignment stick as a landing target based on how far out I was -- starting from 30 yards then working my way out to 60 before finishing inside 25 with some work on short sided flops.  I mostly focused on playing with trajectories/spin combos and how much rollout I saw with each.  I'm wasn't exactly throwing darts but I was putting a reasonable percentage inside 10 feet.  The highlight of which was at 50  yards where I put 4 inside 5', 1 in the hole, and 5 more inside 10.  I'll take 25% landing inside high percentage 1-putt range and another 25% landing inside maybe 1-putt easy two-putt.  Short side practice was also excellent.  The wedge game may be turning a corner.... it only took two-years, probably ten thousand practice strokes, and a complete swing rebuild.  😆

Date 05/24/2023 Course Name Elma Meadows Golf Course Gross Score 97 Course Handicap 24 Gross Strokes over/under par 27 Net Score to Par 3 Net Score 73 Net Birdies or better 1 Longest Drive 192 Double triple EAGLE single double to start the front 9 and could not get a par to drop after the 2 hits on the 3rd par-4.  Hit driver from the seniors tee 189 and then 5-iron from 143 that bounded up to the green and rolled towards the pin as I have seen many times before but this time it disappeared which I am used to seeing end up over the back.  But the others said they thought they saw it drop so I kept from jumping to conclusions, finished measuring the shot and then changed the phone display to camera handing it to my regular partner before seeing my OnCore Avant with my purple mark in the bottom of the cup.  Didn't drop my handicap down much because there was plenty of "normal" golf going on for the other 17 holes.

Date 05/22/2023 Course Name Lakeland Golf Club Gross Score 102 Course Handicap 18 Gross Strokes over/under par 31 Net Score to Par 13 Net Score 84 Net Birdies or better 0 Longest Drive 247 First round after a two year healing break and it was cart path only.  Two holes with decent drives. Two irons shots to the front of the green,two chips and two one putts = 2 pars. Everything else about the round shall be erased from memory 😂😂

I did play today, but it was at the local pitch 'n' putt.  Wound up net -5 on a par 27.  Was a good walk too.  I would have done better, but I flew a few greens.  
I have a round at a regulation length course tomorrow.

Normally, I wouldn't answer the phone but one was concerning my LASIK procedure on Thursday and the next call was from my new boss who I will be reporting to starting next Tuesday.
I managed to right the ship though and fired a 39 on the front nine! 1 gross eagle and 1 gross birdie on the day as well!!!
Actually stuck the approach for the eagle after a big drive and a solid 8-iron to a front pin!

Another new course for me. Good takeaways are that my minions were good. However my putting was very bad I had 10 3 puts and a four put this round.
