I will also note two differences in ball flight.  Most noticeably, the ball is flying higher than my typical ball flight.  I have always been able to flight a ball lower, but struggled to get the ball higher when I wanted.  I don't seem to have that issue with the AF Epic combo, and I can still hit a lower shot if I need (well, maybe excluding the punch shot at this time 😂

I am always looking for more height out of my driver as well. This could prove to be an expensive thread for me.

In my testing, I have intentionally hit putts from the toe and the heel, high and low, and found that the ball kept the line I was trying to hit. I don't have the technical knowledge to attribute the forgiveness to the milling, but I bet that it is a factor. At the same time, I can tell when I hit the sweet spot and when I miss it.

Interesting, I am seeing pulls on toe hits with the F-3. I think it's mainly me still getting use to a toe hang putter and over rotating. I definitely get feedback on heel and toe hits. It is not the softest feeling milled putter I have used, but it has a great feel and sound.

Quick update on my plans for the rest of the week.  Tonight my son has baseball practice so I have an hour to waste at the nearby golf course.  Hoping to get a little range work in and then head to the practice green with my Array F-2.

Rounds are scheduled for Thursday and Saturday this week weather permitting.

I'll also try for another round of at home indoor testing at some point; though I've noticed my F-2 seems to perform a lot better outdoors on real greens where it really matters.

I have seen similar results with the F-3. My head-to-head indoor testing was almost a push, but I seem to make more mid range putts than usual with the F-3 when I am on the course.

    Hi spies,

I played Papago yesterday and was paired up with push carters for the first time. I always had the idea that pushing would be slower, but quickly realized how wrong I was. By hole 8, my friend and I were already discussing getting push carts for our future rounds instead of driving carts because of how much better pace of play was for the push carters who didn’t have to rush to cart and scramble if one person hit left off the tee and the other hit right.

I sent a text to my uncle who started my golf obsession to ask him if he pushes and he said he does and has his own cart. He also added that some courses, including the course he is a member at do not allow you to bring your own push cart.

do any of my fellow Phoenix metro (Scottsdale, Phoenix, Cave Creek, Mesa, Tempe) spies know what courses in the area don’t allow you to bring your own push cart?

After yesterday, I’m on the verge of picking up either a Clicgear 4.0 or a Bag Boy Nitron this week so I’m ready to push my next round.

I can't help you with the Phoenix area courses, but I can say that I recently upgraded from a 10 year old no-name push cart to a Bag Boy Nitron and I absolutely love it! I'm sure the Clicgear is great as well, but all the research I did led me to the Bag Boy and I have no regrets.

  5. I had another one of those days yesterday where nothing was falling. I was putting last in a 4-man scramble, so I knew the line for every putt. I was just struggling with pushing and pulling putts. These were not terrible misses mind you, but it was frustrating none the less.

My round today has been rained out. I'm supposed to play Wednesday and Thursday, hopefully the weather cooperates.

I like the dual color, this is a sharp looking putter!

Is there a larger loft than you normal putter and also can you tell if there is a longer skid before the roll is normal?

I have been doing a lot of indoor head-to-head testing for my final review. When I am putting from 15 ft I noticed some skidding from my Bloodline Vale, but none from the Edel F-3. It's very noticeable because I can hear the skidding on my putting turf. The Edel has 1/2 degree more loft. I wouldn't think that would be enough to make a lot of difference, so I'm guessing it has more to do with the milling on the Edel face vs the insert on my Bloodline.

  7. I've been doing some indoor head-to-head testing between the Edel F-3 and my Bloodline Vale and the results so far have been pretty much even. On the course though I definitely see a difference. My lag putting is much more consistant with the F-3 and I always seem to make a couple of mid-range putts every round. Yesterday was no different as I made one from 12' and another from 15'. I missed a few in the 6'-10' range that I would like to have back, but I honestly feel like I have a chance to make nearly every putt I am standing over which is a great feeling to have.

  8. I walked another 9 after work yesterday and had my worst putting performance with the F-3 to date. Still, I made a 16' and 9' putt and also a 5' comebacker after I ran a 25' putt past the hole. I three putted twice which was a bit of a shock to the system as I have only had a couple of 3 putts in total before yesterday with this putter. The first one was the one that really bothered me, I left a 22' putt 4' short and then tugged that one left. The other three putt was from 50'. My distance was actually good on this one, but I misread the putt and pushed it causing it to end up 5' right of the hole, which I missed. I've been fairly automatic on these shorter putts, but it caught up with me this time.

  9. I didn't get to see most of this years Masters. Unfortunately Paramount+ only let you see the CBS coverage on Thursday and Friday if you have the basic plan. They make you upgrade to their premium package to see the weekend coverage. Peacock does not do this with the NBC coverage. I ended up listening to most of it on my SiriusXM app while working out in the yard.

  10. My answer is simply yes. I love burgers and eat them more than I probably should. I'm not even sure I have a favorite, I will dress them differently at home. Sometimes ketchup and mustard, sometimes bbq sauce, sometime mayo with either of those, usually pickles and onions if we have them, NEVER TOMATOES, but always american cheese if it's an option. At a restaurant, I will often order the royal burger (the one with a fried egg on top) if they have it on the menu.

  11. I walked 9 holes again tonight at my home course. I putted really good once again. I made putts from 12', 9', and 5'. I also had a 38' uphill put that I lagged to 18". I did have a 3 putt on the last hole from 63'. It was a complete mishit on my part. I took such a long backstroke that I actually hit the putt with a descending blow causing the ball to pop up in the air before it started rolling. The ball ended up 9' short and I burned the edge of the hole. That was the only putt I missed inside of 10' all night. While I never want to 3 putt, from that far away I'm ok with it. Since it was the end of the round, I rolled the putt again after we finished the hole and rolled it up to 3', so I still feel good about the lag putting work I did last Friday.

So how is everyone liking these so far compared to their gamers? Are they getting close to beating them out of the bag?

The F-3 is definitely staying in my bag. I have never been more confident standing over a putt than I am with the Edel. I really think it is more due to the fitting than the actual putter itself. I really liked my old gamer and putted well with it most of the time, but knowing that I am lined up correctly has removed a lot of indecision that I would have with my previous putter.

  13. I played yesterday with my Dad's group. This course has much faster greens that my home course, but I play here several times a year so I knew that going in. I spent some time on the practice green to dial in the pace and my lag putting was excellent all day. I made putts from 18' and 15', and only missed 1 putt from inside of 10'. This was a scramble format again, but this time I was putting last so I got to see a couple of putts before I putted.

I'm walking 9 after work at my home course tonight, hopefully I can readjust to the slower greens as quickly as I did the faster greens yesterday.

I also had an issue at one course I play where the layout had changed and needed to be remapped.  I searched online and found a remapping form to fill out and send to Garmin.  I filled out the form and noticed at the top that said they only do updates quarterly.

Just an update , I just played this course for the 1st time this year. After the gps located the course and I selected it I got a new map downloaded prompt on the watch. I am happy to report that they updated the mapping correctly, so I didn't have to repeatedly change the hole I was on.

  15. My scramble yesterday did not go as planned. I was the new guy in my group, so they had me putting first. I was burning edges all day, but didn't make one putt. One of the guys in my group did comment on how I hit the ball where I was aiming every time, which reaffirmed the feeling I had on my Friday round. It was just one of those days where you feel like your hitting good putts, but nothing is dropping. Such is golf.
