I picked up a used Gen 5 0311 XF 9° driver that looked brand new off of PXG_Express on Ebay for $239 + tax and free shipping.

I put a ball in play until it is damaged or lost. It can be one round or a dozen rounds. I make it a challenge to see how long I can keep one in play. It helps that my club  has a limited amount of cart paths. Usually right by the tee box and by the green in the cart parking area. So damage isn't much of a concern.

I don't buy new balls, let alone start with one...lol. Sometimes I get a whole round with one ball. Sometimes I'm on ball #3 after 3 holes. Just depends on how it goes that day.

I play a ball until it is lost.   I typically just grab a ball from my bag and off we go.  I can go 5/6 rounds without losing a ball or I can lose 2/3 in a single round.  Depends on course and season (lots of leaves this time of year).

It's very unusual for me to get an entire round out of a single ball. I did have one that went 31 holes last year, and just lost one last week that went over 36 holes - but again that's highly unusual. I usually lose 1-3 balls a round...🥴 In my defense, my home course has knee to waist high rough (second cut) in quite a few places, and fall leaves aren't helping right now.
It's very rare for me to wear out a ball. I have lost a couple that literally had one stroke, into the woods off the first tee...🤫

I generally play a ball as long as I can without losing it or sending it for a swim.  I play a tight course with lots of trees and very thick Bermuda rough.  If I don’t track a shot in the rough, it’s easy to lose one.  That said, until it won’t clean up or is bruised from hitting a tree or a cart path, it stays in play.  I have had a few that have made it through 54 holes.

I always start a round with a new ball. I'll toss scuffed ones into my shag bag and I'll only grab one of those if I run low on new balls, which thankfully is happening less and less.

Yep! That's me!!  I usually start a round with one slightly used ball and one that I don't care if I lose.  I'll play the good one on most holes and the other on the 3 holes where I could put it into water.  There is no OB that I could reach with my worst shot, and the trees are not so thick that you can't find the ball.  That's not to say that I haven't lost a ball in the rough!  Most rounds I will end with the same two balls.  If I lose the old ball, the newer one becomes my old ball and I introduce a new ball.  I have kept a ball in play for a month playing 2-3 rounds a week.  On the other hand I have lost both balls on the same hole... more than once!!!

I'm happy when a ball simply lasts a full round truthfully. Although it worked a little better for me this year where i had a few last 20+ holes.
Usually mine get lost rather than blemished to the point I can't use them.

I normally put a new ball in play every round and will keep it in play for the whole 18 (assuming it isn't lost or drowned during play).  I will take a ball out of play that has become scuffed from a cart path or otherwise damaged even slightly.  When I'm playing a more casual round, I'll often just grab one that has been played but still in good condition.  Scuffed or blemished balls will be tossed or added to a shag bag.   Before moving here, I used to take bags of used golf balls to the VA hospital for their course.

Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving Spies!  Hope your day with family and friends is pleasant, and your turkey comes out perfect (or nearly so). This year we're having my brother and sister-in-law over.  It's been over a decade since we've had Thanksgiving together.  Enjoy and mind the gravy intake 😉.

If you're over 4 feet tall, weigh over 85 pounds, and have at least a size 3 shoe you've passed the first set of criteria.
If you can pick up a golf club and swing it at a speed of at least 45 miles per hour you've passed the second set of criteria.
Most importantly is the criteria that you be willing to completely leave your traditional comfort zone and try an experiment or two that would have you immediately labeled as "out of your mind" to see what happens.  The good news is that these experiments do not involve gunpowder, hard to pronounce chemicals, or extended exposure to large open flame.
The final criteria?  IF you decide to reside in the land of Otto Phlex for one or more of your golf clubs it's imperative that you wait for the folks you play with to ask "what the heck have you done??" in relation to your increased distance, reduced dispersion, etc. before letting them in on your membership in Club O-PH.  Then and only then are you to direct them to this thread, wherever in the archive it might be, with strict instructions they should start with Post 1.

I don't think it is bad idea at all.  Most of the experimenters have dropped 2 flexes, but for me, dropping 1 flex produced better results.  I went with the Fuji Air Speeder 45 regular in a PXG 0311XF driver and a Fuji Air Speeder 45 senior (tipped 1") in a PXG 3 wood.  The lighter more flexible shafts feel easier to swing but I have to make a smooth transition.
