  1. I don't know why the golf industry still hangs out in California. Or any business for that matter. Sadly Ca. is going down the crapper but quick. Virginia seems to be headed that direction as well. Pretty scenery but that's about it.
  2. Chisag hit on most points i'd have made. I don't cut my shafts although I've considered it a few times. My natural position with my left hand on a driver or any club is about 3/4" - 1" from the butt. And like Chisag said.... we used to all play drivers at 43" back when they were made from trees. But the heads were also about the size of a modern day 4 wood. LOL
  3. Hey divot... I like your thinking but looks like you missed the entire state of Alabama and the RTJ Trail.
  4. How about a shorter shaft with larger Turbulators? LOL
  5. Can you show some more photos? backside, sole, etc.
  6. That's great. You're a 10 hcp'r playing blades and shoot'n even par. Congratulations and welcome to scratch golf.
  7. Hate to be a dream crusher but.... there is already much stuff out on the market like you're describing. Have you looked? In one form or another. I'm not a customer for any of it. I tried a system a couple of years ago and learned it's not for me. I've been playing golf for over 50 years. Yes... I'm old. I use a lot of technology in my personal life and business that fits my needs. Golf stat tracking isn't one of them. I'm a low single digit player. But that doesn't mean I couldn't use improvement. We are always looking to improve our game. Right? There are a lot of guys in this forum that either use stat tracking technology or have a strong opinion about it. IMO you're trying to crack into a market that's already been cracked. And for those reasons - I'm out. Best wishes
  8. I ordered a doz. of each flavor. Tour and Tour-x Certainly don't need any balls but WTH. I'll bet they play pretty good. And with the MGS code and free shipping I couldn't refuse. $1.80/ball.
  9. I'm just not buying it. I don't even like the looks of "tabulators". Why not put some winglets on drivers like airplanes do? Sure, there is some "DATA" that says turbs work. However, I've yet to see anyone I play with that uses a driver with these features gain anything. Honestly, the only thing that has ever improved a driver that I've owned was the ShotMaker. Sadly they went out of business.
  10. boy... the greens at your course look a little shaggy.
  11. His swing looks very good. The question is; can you keep him off Tour Sauce.
  12. I guess I don't quite understand the process and what I might gain from it. Perhaps if I'd had an eye injury or something then therapy might be necessary or the answer. I've been playing golf a long time and for the past 25 years wearing prescription bifocals. My vision at the golf course is great all round. I also putt well. So for me it'd be a hard sell.
  13. I purchased a $3,000 gift card from Pebble Beach this past summer. It provided for 1-round for two players at each of the three courses - Pebble, Spyglass, and Links + two nights lodging at the Inn at Spanish Bay. No date or time restrictions. We raffled it off at a charity fundraiser. Not a bad deal. 3 rounds of golf + lodging. For two! (travel arrangements were left to the raffle winner)
  14. Can you first tell us a little about yourself? Who do you write for? Where will your article be published. When will it be published? Tell us how golf has impacted you.
  15. I just hate reading and hearing about stolen/thief of golf equipment. Especially when it occurs at a golf course. I just don't get it. Same with vandalism anytime or any place. There were some criminals dressed as golfers at local muni last spring. They'd hang around the putting green watching when guys with push carts were making the turn went inside - then they'd walk over - grab the cart and away they went to the parking lot and gone! In addition to the golf equipment they undoubtedly made off with wallets, watches, keys, stuff. Probably to a pawn shop.
  16. I personally don't see a debate. What's there to debate? If you like playing a white ball so be it. (I do) If you prefer anything else - have at it. A debate might be approprite if perhaps the USGA were banning the white ball or a colored one. But they're not. Carry on and have a nice day.
  17. Just curious ED. But, how do you feel about making a return on market investments that you can't control? Do you feel dirty - cheating?
  18. I've played 6 of the courses so far and I've enjoyed playing all of them. I found the courses to all be in very good condition and the staff at each course to be friendly and helpful. As for the politics and economics of the Trail I can't say and really don't have an opinion. To me that's the business of Alabama and their cross to bare for better or worse. Kind of like my neighbor. I like them and wish them well. But how they choose to manage their finances and support their lifestyle isn't any of my business. All states have issues as far their finances are concerned and especially with their funded/unfunded pension plans, etc.. But that's a debate to be held and discussed elsewhere IMO. For now I've enjoyed playing the RTJ Trail and would return again.
  19. I certainly don't have a problem with what companies charge for products such as this. It's still a free country for a while longer it seems. Custom & expensive head-covers are not my thing. But if it's your thing I say load up- have a nice day.
  20. As a prior user of a device like the SX400 I have thoughts about your ultimate conclusion... After a while and when the newness of a free gift wears off most of the testers will - if they keep using it; revert to a basic or perhaps default mode where the device automatically displays only the numbers for F,M,B of green as you move around the course. Most guys I know of anyway don't want to spend their time on course staring at yet another screen and fiddling around with much technology. As much as I enjoy having the usefulness of a cell phone at my disposal I only use a tiny fraction of its capability. I certainly don't spend my time walking around with the thing in my face all day. Same with this cell phone sized unit. So there you have it. I'll now follow along with the reviews and see how it pans out. Best of luck guys!
  21. I'm certainly not any sort of expert on shafts. Not by a long shot. Here's an experience and discussion I once had while visiting Club Champion in Austin, Texas... I was talking to a fitter in their store one day about their clubs and fitting process. Toward the end of our discussion I picked up a random head that were lining the walls of the fitting area and also grabbed a shaft and asked, "what would this driver/shaft combination cost me should I decide to buy?" He looked at my selection and said probably around ~$600+ not including fitting fee. Ouch! I asked the price of the head and shaft and he replied that the shaft alone was about ~$400+. I then asked wouldn't it be possible for him to fit me into a great playing driver if I purchased a shaft that only cost $150-$200. Absolutely he said.
  22. I guess I'll have to say chipping. In the last month that is. My irons/approaches lately have sucked. I've been all around the edges. But when one part fails you make it up another way and carry on.
