Has anyone demoed the utility clubs.  My 5 and 6 irons don't have a large enough gap so looking to replace my 5 iron with a utility iron.  At this point I don't want to put another hybrid in the bag.  The 5 utility looks like a good way to increase the gap.  The clubs looks better in the pictures in this thread than Sub 70's website.

I had a PING G30 I bought off ebay. The face cracked, PING told me to take it to Golf Galaxy. I did so and they called me in an hour to tell me PING would replace it, but they didn't have the G30 any more so would I accept the 400? I said "yes please!". Still enjoying it today.

    OK, here she is!

It's certainly thinner than the V2. I just finished the set up and firmware download. Can't wait to use it on the course tomorrow.

It came in! Actually came yesterday so I was able to build it last night.

KBS Tour 90 S flex 3i shaft. With the GW collared stock ferrule.

It's hard to know from the pictures on GW just how "players" these really are. Well this should hopefully give some perspective.

I know it's not a 1/1 comparison but they'll be relatively close. The W/S are considered "player's" game improvement irons. The DBM are a hair smaller. Both are 4 iron heads. The Cleveland is a 3 iron. The Cleveland Tour Action MB blade is probably one of the most compact blades ever produced.. that I know of. The TS-1 is right between the DBM and Cleveland.

This is truly a beautiful looking iron! Looking at it in person, probably one of the best looking on the market. Fit/finish and lines are just checking all the boxes for me. Top line and sole width are just spot on!

I'll try to get it to the PGATSS in the next day or so to see if I need to adjust lie angle. As always, I'll have the guys there scratching their heads and questioning their own existence when I bring in a club that they've never heard of or seen and looks like something they should be selling for $2K for set.

From Left to Right - Cleveland Tour Action 3i, Maltby TS1 3i, Maltby DBM 4i, W/S FG Tour F5 4i

    TS1 v.s. Cleveland

the more I practice, the luckier I seem to get..

I have been playing with one for about 2 years.  The stepped version really helps with consistent tee height and they last forever.   I just can't see how you could hit the tee before the ball and if you did the shot would be awful no matter what tee you used.

I can put it bluntly as I often do----- I have decided with thanks to all of you guys to use a push cart even if I convert mine---- I could give 2 hoots less what "stigma" someone associates me with.

100% a fan of a push cart.  I don't care if anyone thinks there is a stigma associated with using one.  My back really appreciates not having to carry my bag!

I use them for driver only since I have the stepped version and it is way to high for a fairway wood or iron.  Until a couple weeks ago I did not know they had a shorter version for fairway woods and irons.  At some point I might give them a try.

From left to right - Brand new glove, after 2 rounds in 90° degrees weather, and after 7 rounds in 90° degrees weather.

    Pros: Feels great and cost
Cons: Tends to stretch out after 5 to 6 rounds

    IMHO

Switched to yellow this year and really like it.  It is easier to see in the air and in the grass for me.  Currently I am playing the Z-star yellow and before that the Maxfli Tour matte green.   Didn't like how hard it was to keep the matte balls clean but would try to Maxfli Tour yellow in the future.  It seems like more of my golfing group are putting different colored balls in play.  A couple years ago everyone used white balls.

It was really fun to watch both of the videos you were in.  Glad to see they are as genuine as they appear online.  Back in the day it was really nice to have Matt on the MGS forum.  It really makes me mad that a couple of a-holes chased him away.

Oh Gawd, why would you punish anyone by making them watch this.....actually I advise the Iron fitting one first.  I was pretty beat by the Driver one and didn't get great results.
Seriously it was great fun and Ian and Matt were fantastic, played a round of golf with Matt the day before the filming and he is as long in real life as he is on the LM!   Ian was just such an incredible fountain of knowledge and helped with my swing a bit as you will see, I still go back to that tip/drill he gave me to help square the club-face, to this day.

mooremikea reacted to Popeye64 in HEAVY or LIGHT shafts which and why???
I was always on the heavier side till I did a 3 weight shaft study. 85, 95 and 105g shafts. I had 8 better players including me. Every one of them swore they couldn't hit the 85 at all. Yet every one of them. Hit it farther. Hit it straighter. Hit it more consistently.
They still said they preferred their heavier weighted shafts but couldn't explain the better performance away.
Many golfers are convinced they must play heavier shafts.
Right now the Xcaliber 75g Rapid Tapers are being produced and I'm doing a lot of player testing. I simply hand them the club and won't tell them what it weighs. They marvel at the feel, launch and the near perfect spin numbers without ballooning. They will tell me it does feel lite, they can feel the club head, it is responsive and controlled. When they hear how much it weighs they make a funny face and say its too light. Then they hit another 10 shots down range straight as an arrow.
The less weight obviously doesn't do well for better player when you get to wedges. But slower swings do exceptionally well.
Players are slowly realizing that shafts built today don't have to be 130g to perform.

I typically play later in the day so I have not played much in the morning to test the waterproofing.  I used to play early in the morning and having wet feet stinks.

I purchased a pair earlier this season and they are the most comfortable golf shoes I own.  There was absolutely no "break in" period for me.

Demo's arrived a few minutes ago! I'll hit the range with them in a few hours but the real test will be Saturday when I play a tournament at Innisbrook Copperhead... this time of the year the greens will be "firm-ish" so holding greens will be at a premium... traditionally, my 6 iron has be required to put in work at this course so I won't need to manage my way around it to get some quality looks at the performance. Initial impressions are as follows:
Looks - Sub70 for the WIN! That "traditional look" is very welcomed and I have to say sorely missed!

Top Line - ummmmm very noticeable and once again Sub70 for the win!

Soles - slightly slimmer sole on the Sub70 and this COULD be a welcomed change for turf action. I'm not a digger and there have been times where I think the RSi's sole tried to "help" where it wasn't needed and possibly has contributed to my getting steeper (or more downward attack angle) to reproduce that "ball striking" feeling I had with my Ping i10's that I miss so very much... for the moment let's call it a draw based on aesthetics alone because honestly I couldn't really care what it looks like sitting on the ground (can't see it) but more concerned with how it interacts with the turf! More to come later...

So I went ahead and bought a 52 / 58 to go with the Modus 115 wedge shaft. I built them up sooner than expected, thanks in part to Golfworks and the USPS 2 day Priority shipping for $1.99.
So without further adieu, here they are...Initial thoughts?  I love the headshape. Rounded teardrop and a very compact toe to heel. Looks play such a large part in confidence and they really catch my eye.

The feel has been very pleasant thus far. I haven’t come close to putting them through the paces so as far as initial yard-work shots go, the sole is very versatile.  Playing the ball down as well as floating on taller grass, the club plays well with the turf.
