Copper vs Copper Plated

I've been throwing around the idea of buying a custom putter but I'm unsure right now, may or may not happen. Anyways my question is what's the difference between a putter made entirely from copper and a carbon steel putter with copper plating? I've never tried a copper putter or even one with a copper insert for that matter. I've tried PING BeCU putters but I know that's not the same. Here are my concerns/curiosities

- differences in feel?

- is copper or copper plating too soft/loss of feedback?

- does copper plating soften the feel of a carbon putter much?

- what are your experiences with copper? good or bad

Also, there's the option of getting a carbon putter with a copper insert, is that a lot different in feel compared to solid copper?

Thanks a lot, sorry for all of the questions.

Options (recap)

- carbon with copper plating

- pure copper

- copper insert

Copper plating is to look pretty, solid copper is a feel changing choice (softer and quieter click), copper inserts soften the feel over carbon while retaining carbon durability for the majority of the club.

I wouldn't waste money on a custom with a copper insert. Several manufacturers already offer them that you can buy in the head shape you're looking for. Tad Moore, Scotty, etc... If you're going custom, get a one piece head and talk with the maker about what you're looking for in terms of feel and let him help you select a metal choice.

Copper is softer than carbon steel.

Copper has a more muted sound than carbon, so it feels softer yes. The metal itself, at least for every solid copper putter I've ever had, was as durable as any other putter I've ever had. I've seen reports of dinging easier but that hasn't been my experiences
