Rusty1885
Hi all I've been enjoying the articles and posts for months now, good stuffs. New to the forum, and new-ish to golf. I stopped playing for about 10 years, started again at the beginning of this year. I started hitting balls on Xmas of 2013 actually but it took a week to recover from the aches and pain:) Golf God has been very very kind to me this time around as I hit the same handicap before I stopped playing 4.2, in less than 6 months, the task which I gave myself 12-18 months to accomplish. I'm 20-30 yard shorter off the tee and 10-20 yard shorter on other clubs but gain a more mature outlook of the game. I kept it simple this time, carrying only 10-12 clubs in my bags depending on the set I'm playing. This time around I get to play a bit more, 4-5 rounds a week. Hoping to drop to scratch in the next 12-18 months.

STUDque
Hoping to drop to scratch in the next 12-18 months. Hello Rusty belated welcome. I didn't realize just how long you've been around. Did you ever meet your goal of getting to scratch? I enjoy your round recaps as it seems like you're always brushing up against par in interesting ways. Seems like you're pretty close just based on what I've seen. Rusty1885
Hello Rusty belated welcome. I didn't realize just how long you've been around. Seems like you're pretty close just based on what I've seen. Sent from #throwbackthursday Well I came close my last official hc was 1 a few months ago but I got sick then got lazy over the holidays, then came the video project I'm doing with my wife, hey now, not that kind of videos, I'm not out on the course half as much as I want to. Plus I just got a new drone which I'm really having fun flying. Unfortunately, both my home courses are near or next(literally) to the airport so I can't fly it there. It would have been amazing with all the aerial shots I can do on an empty course. Back to being a scratch, it's not only possible but not very difficult for me at this point at least at my home course. All I have to do is play more, 4-5 rounds a week would be sufficient enough to maintain par level golf at my home course(s). It's such a highly perishable skill(s) and mental skill to maintain the sharpness and focus. Sounds difficult now that I'm probably shoot near 77-78 but when I was on a roll I rarely let anything slips. Thanks all for the belated welcome. STUDque
Life just doing what life does. What kind of video project is it then? Speaking of videos, I'd love to see what you have a far as drone footage is concerned. I've got 2: a little baby one I can fly around in my house, and one that can turn forward and fly like a plane. I use the second one to get my dog exercise like he's chasing a frisbee lol. I wish I can do golf but there are too many school of thoughts out there though mine works well for me it may not work well for others. As for the drone footage, I fly as a hobby doing my daughter's video and one on the mountain bike trail. Wish I could get an aerial slo-mo shot of bunker shots. That would be cool.
