JUST ARRIVED! - MacGregor VIP Forged Irons

We are going to be doing a BIG review in the coming weeks and the clubs are starting to arrive for the review. I hope you guys enjoy what we have in store. But until then here is one of the sets that just arrived at the office.

 

If looks were a barometer of how these things were scored they would be top notch. Can say what you want about them being sold to Golfsmith but the guys that we know who deigned these took their long history into serious consideration and have done a superb job on this set. The milling in the cavity was a nice touch to give it some texture and still be able to mix a modern look with a vintage design.

Just out of curiosity, what happens to these clubs after the review?

 

Kidding aside, those are great looking irons, and I hope they perform just as well.

They use to make some of the best irons around in the 60's 70's 80's but we all knnow how that's gone for many US companies. They do look traditional as always.

Nice looking indeed. Can't wait for the review. I have been curious about the MacGregor product since they were making a come back and now with Golf Smith buying them. Hope they do well. What kind of price range are they (If you allowed to tell before your review)?

Those are some great looking irons, definitely classic and a sharp departure from the "where can we stick another logo and more color" design school.

too bad the purchase of these gives money to Golfsmith. Ive had soooo many bad experiences with that store, I will never give them another dime.

When I purchased my 690.mb's it came down to the MacGregor V-Foil blades and the Titleist's. I've been very happy with my choice, but I won't forget how sweet those Mac blades were.

Going to take a little time to get data for all these golfers and all these irons. Should be in the next couple weeks and then we will put it all together for the article.

I picked up a brand new in the box set of older 1025CM a month or so ago. Great irons, the blades sit so good. Long irons, not flash looking, I ditched them and kept the ones from my older set of irons.

 

Looking forward to seeing the review of the new model.

I got to hit these new ones today. I gotta say, they are right up there with any other forged iron.
