Acushnet Bulls Eye Putters

Salvaged three Acushnet Bulls Eye putters that were going to Goodwill. Are they worth keeping? Should I restore and sell them? I believe that they are essentially the original Titleist putter so maybe they're worth 20 or 30 dollars?

If you're looking to re-sell them, it would be likely be best to refinish yourself. You probably won't make 1/2 your money back if you have them done Professionally. I've done a few Spalding TPM putters myself and enjoyed the process , and luckily was able to resell, but bullseyes can be tough, but check eBay for realistic pricing.

If they're carbon steel, you can do a lot of cool stuff with the color with torching, plus you can oxidize with gun blue.

Have fun!

Yeah, I was definitely going to do them myself. All of them are bronze, I believe, so I am not really going to be able to do any other finishes. Thanks for the advice!

The brass heads clean up nice if their not badly banged up. I did a couple old putter heads, tumbled them in stone then glass beaded them. Came out OK not pristine but playable. My son in law has played one for years.

Could be a fun winter project. Brass or Bronze easy to work with.

If you get a chance post a pic or 2 of the TPM putter, always neat to see refinish projects and give guys ideas.

I did this kinda fooling around one winter maybe 8-10 years ago. Torched, naked carbon.

Pretty straight forward, but for the gun blue to work, it has to be a carbon steel head. You wanna polish the head to whatever shine/smoothness you like with high grit sandpaper, wash quickly with water, and dry with no lint towel. Then i did a quick rub with acetone swabbed cotton ball to clean and dry it. For the actual bluing, I put on gloves and squirted Birchwood Casey's gun blue gel/paste onto the head and rubbed it in with my fingers. You can use a cotton balls, too. After the first bluing, I do a water rinse, quick acetone rub and repeat the process second time. After the second blowing, you can hit it with a torch or heat gun just to make sure it dries out.

You'll want to seal it with a silicone cloth wipe or silicone spray and rub, then let it air dry for a few hours.

It's nice if you scratch it, you can just reapply some of the gel versus a scratched paint

I realize some of this may be overkill, but it's how I got my best results after several attempts
