GolfSpy MPR
So today, Shane Bacon made his pick for the PGA Championship: For those who might be unfamiliar, this is the Denny's Grand Slam breakfast, so Shane is picking Spieth to complete the career slam. But that raised a question in my mind: if each item on the Denny's Grand Slam corresponds to a major, which one is which, and why? My selections: Bacon: US Open, because bacon is 'murica Sausage: British, because bangers Eggs: Masters, because sandwiches Pancakes: PGA, because it's what's left, like the PGA Agree? Disagree? What are your picks and reasons? Shankster
So, what’s the butter? The Players Championship? For me it’s: Masters: Eggs, the breakfast Staple. Open: Bacon (the best thing on the plate) US Open: Pancakes, because of the rock hard greens.. I’ve had some bad pancakes. PGA: Sausage, not everyone likes it… plus if it is undercooked, or over cooked it is super nasty. GolfSpy_APH
Okay let's have some fun with this. Pancakes - The Open, for flat ish play brown burnt out awesome along the ground golf we see at links courses. Edit: Syrup can make it messy and sticky just like the weather that can often blow in... And just like the weather it makes it so much better! Eggs (sunny side up) - PGA, for the blazing hot conditions we had at Southern Hills last time around and we are back there this year. Bacon - The Masters, slippery greens (grease), various bumps ridges and slopes and the better the execution the better it is! Sausage - The US Open, a classic that is the hardest to do right. Overdone and it's toast, under and it's soggy and gross... Also can be a little bland at times. They closed up both of our Denny's on the South Side of the beach even before the pandemic. Which I liked some of their dinners but for breakfast type stuff I like Waffle House better. Like not in NY, NJ and New England states and only those who have traveled south and west have had the pleasure! Of course when travel is not on the table, Waffle House is too far to go for breakfast and from their locator map the same is true for Michigan, all the northern states from there to the Pacific including UT, NV and CA That needs to be fixed quick smart and in a hurry! tony@CIC 1 Quote In the bag: Driver: Darkspeed X 9° UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Blue 7F4 Fairway: Apex UW 19° & 21° Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black 5.5 Irons: JPX 923 HMP 5-PW UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: T-22 Denim Copper 48°, 52° & 56° UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter Sycamore 005 Wide Blade Bag: Fairway 14 stand bag Balls: Chrome Tour Cart: CaddyLite ONE Ver. 8 God Bless America, God save the King, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia! When I moved to the Grand Strand area of SC some 21 years ago now there was only ONE Waffle House on the whole Strand and that was in Little River some 25 miles from here. The next one they built was 2 miles down the road from me in Murrells Inlet. From all of that they suddenly exploded they are everywhere. Actually in a 5 mile radius of CCU there are now 5. Even the small town of Aynor which is 30 miles on 501 going into the beach has one. Technically I have 4 within a 5 mile radius of me now. Dennys we had 2 technically in Surfside Beach. One on Business 17 and the other one on the 17 bypass. For some reason I never heard they closed before the pandemic. I believe they still have one somewhere in Dirty Myrtle.
