Javs
I live in Texas and received an offer through the Texas Golf Association for Edison Custom Wedges. Claiming the best wedges are being built here in Texas. Has anyone ever tested, played or have these wedges? I was curious because with the Callaway Paradym Irons if they make my bag permanently, then I would have gapping issues. So, would need a new set of wedges. Hoping for some feedback. Hi @Javs - have been playing the new Edison 2.0 for about a month now, after spending the late fall and winter in the Cleveland RTX6 ZipCores - which I'm a huge fan of. The Koehler sole is unique and it takes a bit of practice to get used to it, but it's a very versatile sole and the logic behind it makes sense -- you can open it up and hit full shots, it's good from all kinds of lies and on a variety of turf conditions, especially the sand. The 5x forging process delivers a wedge that feels fantastic and the higher CG and mass properties help you flight the ball -- you can hit it low with plenty of spin or high with a soft landing. Last few rounds have been spot-on with them - and at this point, they're going to stay in the bag for the foreseeable future. Highly recommended. Let me know here or in a DM if you have any questions I can help you with. Here's a link to the intro article I wrote for the 2.0 models... Josh Ross
I believe they are the best wedges available but I may be biased as a contract employee of Edison. I've used every wedge Terry has made since Eidolon, they just flat out work and do what he says they do. I sent some to Ian at TXG for testing, one of the best unbiased review channels on YouTube. Terry says he's refined it a little bit for this edition - and I do like the way they play. I've only hit the 0311 wedges at a PXG fitting - did not pull the trigger on them, however. If memory serves, I liked them, but can't give you a head-to-head vs. the Edisons since I only hit them off a mat. revkev
No I'd think Terry would want a long time forum member and SCOR fanboy to try test them and report back. Seriously I have been back and forth with my Edisons - back and forth between them and my old SCORs - the biggest issue that I've had is that I have to work harder to flight them down than I did the SCORs. True or not the SCORs also appear to have a smaller footprint which in my opinion made them easier to open than the Edisons. I can hit the old one hop, stop shot with my Edison 54 better than any wedge I've ever owned - I really love that shot when I have it in the bag. And the 54 is a 53 bent weak. revkev
At the end of my driver fitting I asked some wedge questions - my fitter wanted me to just sign up for a wedge fitting which I'm not doing at Golftec - it's indoors, Even if they have some sort of probe that tests turf interaction I'm not feeling it so it makes no sense to me. Anyway I know how the V sole interacts with the turf - I've been gaming it going back to SCOR days. Based on what I gleaned, I'm convinced that I'm not properly fit into my current Edison's and that's part of my inconsistencies with them. Again as I've noted in that fitting post I'm playing with some mad money this month - so I ordered two 2.0's. I hope these give me what I'm looking for; greater consistency which ultimately will lead to more confidence in my wedge game and lower scores. MajorCavalry
Good morning, I thought I would share my preliminary impressions of Edison 2.0 wedges. Just a bit of background, I am a mid cap (14.0) whose major issue is putting. I currently have Miura CB57 irons 3-PW and no desire for anything other that a forged club. My previous wedges were Miura 1957 c grind 51, 55 and 59. I never thought I had a wedge "problem". I hit them well and was happy with the turf interaction. I did find distance and accuracy a bit inconsistent, Upon reading Terry Kohler's articles it became clear that perhaps these Miuras weren't the best choice for me. By the way, I was custom fitted for the irons and wedges. My irons and wedges are fitted with Accra iSeries i70 regular flex shafts. After speaking with Bill Totten, I purchased the 51, 55 and 59 with the KBS PGI 70 gm shaft. These are listed as A flex on the Edison website but R flex on the KBS website. My first round out with them was an eye opener although I realized this may be the honeymoon phase. First, I did not notice any change in well struck shots for distance. Everything I had worked out a la Dave Pelz did not change with the Edisons. This makes sense as one 59* club is subject to the laws of physics as any other. The KBS shafts feel very similar to the Accra shaft and were a good choice. They are playing to the flex I am accustomed to. What I did notice was an amazing improvement in accuracy and distance control! Shots were closer to the pin left and right and front to back. Evidently, even with slight mis hits, the ball was staying on a more accurate line and distance did not vary as much. The feel was very similar to the Miuras with a nice solid thunk I expect from a forged iron. I can't comment on the V sole, but I was able to make all the shots like I do with the Miura. If Miura made a game improvement wedge similar to the CB 57 cavity backs, this would be it! MajorCavalry
Just a brief update. I continue to be amazed at the forgiveness of these Edison wedges. Golf2Much
@Javs, I wish I had seen this post earlier. As you know, we've been a little distracted! I've been playing the Edison wedges for two years. I can say they are the best wedges I've played. Being short off the tee and hitting only 20% of my greens in regulation, I rely on pitching, chipping and putting to score. In March, 2021 I purchased 50-, 55- and 60-degree Edison wedges and they made a significant improvement in my game. Since then, I've put over 300 rounds on them. As publicized, they do have a lower overall trajectory. For me in Key West with our pretty constant winds, that's an advantage. From the fairways, I get pretty consistent yardages from both good and fair hits. When many of my playing partners choose to putt from off the green, I'll always choose to chip using my Edison wedges as I know I'll get consistent contact and roll. I typically get 3-5 up and downs every round from close approaches and one putting. As a result, my playing partners have given me the nickname "F#?$ing Norm!" The Edison sole is very versatile, and I get fairly consistent shots from the fairway, rough and sand. Their representatives are top notch and will go out of their way to help you. I'll be looking to update to the latest version in the not-too-distant future. Oh, and they pair well with the Paradym irons! As a result, my playing partners have given me the nickname "F#?$ing Norm!" Really great information. I am thinking about the 51, 55, 59 to go with the Paradym’s. Your review just pushed me closer to a purchase! Thanks!! Golf2Much 1 Quote Play like a champion today! As I have said before, well struck shots feel pure just like my previous Miura forged wedges. It the not so great hits where these shine. There is great feedback on less than stellar swings but the results are close to perfect. I like my Edison wedges quite a lot (I own 44*, 49*, 54* and 59* Edison wedges). However, with the Paradym irons in my bag, only the 54* and 59* make sense to carry, and even then, I am best off bending the 54* model one degree strong to 53* loft. I have been an “industry friend“ of Terry Koehler, founder, CEO and designer of Edison Wedges for about 25 years, through his time with Reid Lockhart, Ben Hogan Golf, Eidolon, SCOR, and now Edison. He’s a great designer, wedge savant, and really good golfer. As for his business acumen, I am not so sure! Maybe explains why he moves companies so much. Hmmmmm…… Guess I selfishly only need the wedges to be top notch. Ha ha funkyjudge 1 Quote Play like a champion today!
