If I could climb to the top of the largest mountain in the world and scream this as loud as I could I would do it in a heartbeat:

YOUR HANDICAP IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE GOLF SCORE

It's just not.

you should only beat it or even match it 20 percent of the time.
that means 80% of the time you shoot higher than your handicap - sometimes a little sometimes a lot.

Be happy when you play well even if you don't 'shoot your hcp'....

Yes, based upon my 30+ years of maintaining a golf handicap that is about right!  The thing is -- when I shoot lower than my handicap index, it is often quite a bit lower, but it only happens about three or four times in a good season comprised of 50-75 rounds of golf for posting purposes.

I know this feeling. Have been trending the wrong direction recently and have only cracked 80 once this season. Been living in the mid 80s recently which just is annoying, but it's about what i should be doing with the system as it is!
