Keep the scores coming, as the race goes until the week of April 7th, 2024! Lastly, we are working on something for this winter that incorporates Virtual Rounds for all of you folks living above the frost line. Details to come... Popular Post RoverRick
Awesome. I have to say that participating in this all season has changed the way I play golf. My regular group can have up to 24 players of varying handicaps. We have a $10 low net and a $10 net skins (1/2 handicap). So if you are a 9 handicap you get 4 strokes. In this format, we get full handicap so I am more conscious of this and strive harder to make pars through out the round. I rarely play the first 3 holes on my course very well. The first 2 are predominantly into a 20-25 mph wind, I usually can’t reach the corner on the second hole, and the third hole is a short but wicked par 5. Since joining this thread, I have played Hippocratic Golf. First do no harm. The goal is to keep the ball in play and work on my net birdies for this thread. Of course there is always the added benefit of winning money in the group. Overall this has not been a good year for me with golf. I seem to only be able to play well 1/4 of the time. My handicap has been as low as 6 and high as 12. But playing poorly is still better than not playing. Fortunately, I live in an area where I play golf 52 weeks a year. Golf2Much
@Ben Joest thanks for the update. It looks like a great leaderboard and I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays out from back in the pack! Just as a heads up for Virtual Championship Tour members, every point counts! I was fortunate enough to win season one by less than 38 points. That's less than 1.5 points over that 26-week season. So, play hard, play often and best of luck to all that play in this great tournament! I’ll work on getting it posted again, but the readers digest version is thus: 1st and ties pays out 500 points 50th and ties pays out 9 points There is a graduated scale for all places in between. Everything after 50th gets 1 point. Most birdies and long drive for the week get 150 points on top of the points earned for placing. In theory, the most points a player could earn for any given week is 800. But that would have to be one hell of a round. Mr. Mushball
Looks like I'm slacking this year and have fallen out of the top 10. For all of us high handicappers, it's not about always placing well, but more about getting something up on the board. Thanks @Ben Joest for this update. I was wondering where everyone was settling out given the huge turnout and some amazing play. I know the staff is really busy this year, it's nice to see some volunteering from the membership.
