BigTiny
My hobby list is starting to focus a little more. It used to include dirt bikes, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, backcountry skiing, horseback riding, rodeo, and horse team driving. Right now, my main hobbies outside of golf have narrowed to archery, hunting (big game, upland, and waterfowl), working with my dogs, fishing, and enjoying an occasional bourbon. My wife and I moved recently and I am working on building a workshop in our basement to contain all of the various accoutrements for my current hobbies. I am currently in final prep mode for the Dahlonega Total Archery Challenge next month. MN_Hacker
The sign holders I had the scouts fabricate fit perfectly in the minivan. We previously had wooden sandwich boards of roughly the same dimensions, so all 7 of these take up the space one wooden sign did. RetiredBoomer
I used to play the ponies, not for big stakes, just for fun, but Suffolk Downs, Rockingham Park, and Narragansett Park have all closed down and Thoroughbred Racing is gone in my area. Baseball, boxing, and Thoroughbred racing were the "big three" pro sports when I was a young boy. Times have changed more than a little, obviously. AndySP
The amount of motorcycle riders in here is cool. Maybe time to get a special MGS jacket made up? My other hobby is rock climbing, which I find less scary than a motorcycle. It actually used to be my job, but I now split my time about 50/50 between them. I’m a better climber than golfer, but I have a similar relationship to each. As much as I enjoy trying to get better, as I’ve grown older I’ve realized it’s the time you get to spend outside with your friends and family that’s most meaningful. It’s been awhile (fewer opportunities w/ the move from CO back to South TX) but I used to do a lot of bouldering. I also rode a motorcycle for a few years and IMO moving through a crux 30 feet up a highball is wayyy more nerve wracking. BTW - thanks for the Leukotape recommendation you posted last year. I used it as finger tape in my early climbing days but hadn’t considered it for golf. It’s now the go-to tape for my hinky lead wrist; and nothing else even comes close for stability and staying put when I’m sweating bullets. The route is called “Transworld Depravity” at the Red River Gorge. My favorite in the cave. I hope you get the chance to get out again! Bouldering is definitely scary, but more popular out here so often you at least get plenty of pads on the ground. I’ve actually never ridden a motorcycle, I’m too scared, haha. Glad the tape recommendation worked out! DKScott
About two years ago a friend got me started with Pickleball. I was reluctant at first thinking how much fun could that be? I was wrong. Like golf it is extremely addictive and fun. Nice part about pickleball is that you can play it at whatever level you wish.
10Hockey
I have played ice hockey all my life and I still try and go to the Scottsdale Ice Den at least once a week to keep up my hockey skills . 2 hours on the ice keeps me balanced. I can't play golf everyday because it would just become Groundhog Day for me. Need some variety and the gym 3x a week and 2 - 4 hours of ice time keeps in fun , interesting, and a good work out. JAYER38
To many hobbies and not enough time haha.... My 3 month old son is a top priority now and I cant wait till he gets a little older and can do things with me vs just being there hanging out. Have been racing karts for about 15 years now along with other forms of racing but this has just stuck and always been fun Vehicles from cars, trucks, & bikes has always been something I've enjoyed. If I had to guess I've owned around 50. All were driven to some extent but don't think I've ever owned anything longer than 3 years Cant exactly say this is last but Travel has always been something I've enjoyed alot. Be it to a different state, area, country, or just a quick getaway for the weekend.. Around this time last year is when we invited friends and family(whoever could make it) to join us for our wedding in Iceland..... Here a nice photo of when my wife slipped right before we took a dip in the COLD water to celebrate.
